I’ve never had a bad experience at Island Spice before in terms of food quality however the last time I went there was a FLY cooked up in my rice and peas. Absolutely disgusting especially considering the cost of the meal. I could’ve gone back and complained I would’ve but unfortunately I live far and didn’t see it until I was home.

Service with a smile does not exist here. I read the negative reviews beforehand but still wanted to try out the place. I ordered 2 meal takeouts: Jerk Chicken and Oxtail. The older lady had an extremely sour attitude. The cuisine was new to me and I had mistakenly said "oxtail curry" instead of just 'oxtail' and the lady corrected me rather curtly/rudely. I was also not explained that I can have a choice of 2 sides - was served macaroni for both sides on both the orders... would have loved to try the coleslaw. At the time of payment, I wanted to try the fried dumpling and requested for it. The lady reacted rather rudely as if I had offended her by ordering more food. Total came to around $40 with tax. The food was rather delicious but the experience/customer service totally ruined it for me. What a shame because the food is delicious!

Went there with my wife we have a newborn so we had to go in one at a time watching the baby in the car. I asked about the menu and the older lady looked like she absolutely did not want to explain anything to me. I got a half answer so walked out so I could tell my wife and she went in to see the menu and had the same worse attitude. So I go back in because we really wanted to try the food and thankfully a younger lady comes and is extremely patient showing me EVERYTHING without being rude or impatient. Great, I order my food. Thank you young lady!! 3-4 people behind me all get their food before me, finally my turn and they ring me up, $50 for 2 specials? Apparently ox tail and curry goat dont come with the specials? Maybe I genuinely misunderstood but the whole experience made me feel really unwelcome and cheated. I walked out but I would not recommend to anyone that hasn't been there before. You gotta be from round there or know what you're asking for if you know what I mean. Too bad it was really busy so the food must be good. Looked good too but not for me to try

The bbq jerk chicken was immaculate 🔥. Not your typical Jamaican spot, the customer service was great. Definitely a must try. The chicken was so flavourful and juicy. The sides complement the meal perfectly.

Friendly staff and good food is a great combination. Everything I've tried has been on point. It's worth the drive and price. Highly recommended. They deserve more than 5 stars

I've had their oxtail and jerk chicken. The jerk chicken has a nice spicy kick and very tender. Got oxtail gravy on the rice and peas. I like that they offer two salads with the meal which not many places do. Coleslaw is so good! There's usually a line but the ladies work fast.

The staff is friendly, very accommodating and patient when ordering. Especially when you end up ordering more than what you came in for. The price is right for the portions they gave. The food is fresh not stale. The jerk has the perfect spice and heat to it. They run out of soup fast, so if they have it, you have to add it to the order - so good! They take debit, cash, credit card (not amex). $12 for rice/noodles, meat, and 2 sides. Pictures: Fried Dumplings. Jerk chicken, rice and peas with double coleslaw. BBQ jerk chicken, rice and peas with macaroni and coleslaw. Chow mein, fried chicken, with macaroni and coleslaw. Slice of mac pie. Tip: the parking lot gets busy and it's small, so try to come at off hours.

Simply put, just some of the best food you will taste. The flavour profiles, spice levels, texture, freshness, everything is on point. The Jerk Chicken is one of the best (I personally say the best) authentic Jerk Chicken in Scarborough, Toronto and GTA. The spice rub/marinade is the perfect balance. Savoury and smokey without being overly salty or too spicy. Its great that a variety of side salads are offered to complement the main. They also put real oxtail gravy on the rice and peas. Mmm, mmm. (Also, unbeatable price at $13) Oooo, now the Oxtail. This is a dish that will be expensive anywhere you go, so if you're looking to treat yourself, you'lll want to make sure it's worth it. Now, Island Spice Flava is definitely the place to go for this. The side of oxtail will run you about $23, but dont let the size of the container fool you. This will easily feed 2 hungry people. Whomever prepared this put some serious love into their cooking. The richness and decadence of this oxtail makes it a worthwhile indulgence. The flavour profile is deep and the thickness of the sauce is just right to get into every part of the meat and bone and still coat the outside. This meal(s) truly hits the spot. I always devoured it in my car in front of the store.

I had a delicious lunch here today! I ordered jerk chicken, rice and peas with goat gravy and plantain and was very pleased with the portion and flavours. They have offerings you don't typically see at a Carib restaurant like Mac and cheese and what looked like cornbread muffins. The line up was annoying and there was a bit of confusion with other peoples orders before me but it was worth the wait!Authentic flavours and everything was hot and fresh. A my style dat!

This is what I got for $23.00. The food has a good flavour but not worth it. Literally 5 pieces of oxtail and 3 are juat fat. It's all rice and the rice tastes stale. 😩😩

1st time visiting this restaurant and I must say, absolutely love the layout, I love that I can see the food choices without having to ask what’s available. Staff was great as well. The food was really good, fry chicken was seasoned, coleslaw was great. I’ll definitely visit again. Can’t beat the price of the special either, good value for my money.

Wonderful take out food in Scarborough. They are already busy because the food is so good . I enjoy the curries , chicken and goat . The bbq chicken is very good . They definitely give you a generous portion. The jerk chicken is juicy not dry . Been going there for many years .

Got take out for the first time. Jerk chicken was juicy, the rub had alot of flavour and a good level of heat. Noodles and sides were decent. Will be back to try the other meats.

From the moment I stepped in, I was blown away by the impeccable and highly professional customer service. It's a rarity to find a place that genuinely values their customers as much as this gem does. Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the jerk chicken. Every time I order it, it's like a flavor explosion that never fails to captivate my taste buds. The oxtail gravy generously drenching the rice and peas takes it to a whole new level of deliciousness. What really sets this place apart is the consistent perfection in cooking the jerk chicken - it's always juicy and tender, never a hint of dryness. And the thoughtful addition of Coleslaw and pasta on the side? It's like they knew exactly what would complete this meal to leave my stomach utterly content. Move over, Chris Jerk, there's a new contender in town!

Great food, great price! Loads of selection. No seating inside, one of those meals you eat on your car, in your car or at home. Chicken was juicy, rice was soft, no need for gravy but you know I had to get it! Coleslaw is nice and sweet. Will definitely be back, I have to try the glazed fried chicken.

Ordered the lunch time special food 5 bits of shrimp and rice - they have cut the portions so much. Charging people $15 for this

Amazing food!!! But $2 for this amount of gravy is crazy…. Let alone us having to even pay for extra gravy? It’s gravy!!! Are you kidding? It should be complimentary with the way the pricing is set up. (photos are before I even poured it on to the food smh).

One Togo box is Big portion enough to feed One grown up man. We tried the peanut punch, which is toooooooopoo sweet. It’s really really sweet. It felt like drinking sugar, but worth to try if you want to see what Jamaica drink is like.

Food was really good and at a fair price. The reason for only 3 stars is the customer service. The server was inattentive and kept interrupting customers to have a personal conversation with a co-worker. I've been back and got the same server again and the same thing happened. I really don't want to go back for this reason, But the food is really good.

We got their jerk chicken and BBQ jerk chicken. The taste is great and very authentic! This is our second time coming to this place and look forward to supporting the restaurant more often. One tiny recommendation is to increase the portion size just a little bit more!

Kept hearing about Island Spice so I decided to give it a try. Had the stew chicken with rice n Peas and coleslaw. It was pretty good!! The choice of 2 sides is a good idea also. It was quite busy but the staff managed to keep the line moving. Very organized establishment. Will definitely go back and try something different next time.

If you value good customer service DO NOT go there! The service was very bad. They charge you to substitute for another side, even if you don't take any of the other items that come with the meal. Apparently you can't even ask why they do that because the response I got was very disrespectful. Poor customer service indeed. I ended up leaving and going to their competitor next door and got great service with a smile.

Too increase tips I would give the customer the change ENTIRELY first instead of separating the coins from the bills then asking with the audacity if that's what I initially meant to do..... After waiting in line for 15 mins and being served after people behind me. Good place for quick J.A food as long as you have patience

The food was really tasty and flavourful. We had BBQ jerk chicken, rice and peas, coleslaw, pasta, jerk chicken, fried rice, fried chicken, curry, mac & cheese and we all enjoyed everything. The price is decent, but we could have used more rice. The coleslaw tastes good but it's pretty sweet, they can cut back on some of that sugar

The food was great, I got myself a regular Jerk Chicken Meal w/ rice and peas and oxtail sauce on top. Their cole slaw was surprisingly very good and I definitely recommend getting that as a side. The Jerk Chicken was very well seasoned and tender. The meat itself was also very good and tasted high quality. The only downside is that the quantity of food I personally believe was very little for the pricing, I wish they put way more. I will definitely go here again.

We grabbed take out from Island Spice Flava recently. Overall, we had a good experience but, we could see why you may find some mixed reviews. Anyways, we had Curry Goat and BBQ Jerk Chicken with Rice and Beans, side salads and, an order of Fried Chicken. The side salads were kind of “meh” but, the meats with the rice were absolutely tasty! The fried chicken, although slightly on the greasy side, just hit the right spot!

This place is fantastic. Decent portion and the oxtail gravy is nice. I really enjoy the deep fried chicken. The Jerk is good too! Highly recommended.

Popular take out spot. Lunch deal is awesome, I got the BBQ jerk with coleslaw. Chicken is tender with a good amount of spice

Only disappointment is that I live in Mississauga and can’t eat this as often as I wish I could! Food was GOOD. I got the bbq fry w/ rice n peas & their two sides of coleslaw and macaroni. Let me tell you everything was seasoned nice! Chicken was seasoned to the BONE. And the lady who helped me was a little sweetheart. Definitely recommend and I will drive out of my way to keep going back

Jerk Chicken is incredible. Type of chicken where you taste the flavour throughout and not just on the skin. I’ve also had the spicy shrimp which were equally as great. This food tastes like it was made with pure love. :)

The staff were really friendly and happy to help, and make suggestions. I tried the chicken soup and it was delicious, it reminded me of the chicken soup that I grew up with in Jamaica. It was nice and thick and full of delicious green banana, potatoes, yam, carrots, spinners and lots of chicken. Definitely recommend. I haven't tried the escovitch fish yet, but it looks amazing and so does the black cake.

I been to many jerk chicken spots but is the BEST Jerk Chicken spot I ever been to! Their Jerk chicken and Oxtail are absolutely amazing! I wish they were also open on Sunday's because the cravings are real!!

Best Jamaican food around. Ive been all over the map but this one is a true hidden gem. Hot sauce is killer. The BBQ chicken is 🔥. In fact, you go there and I'm willing to bet there's not one thing you wouldn't be willing to try.

We ordered a large jerk chicken and rice tray for our Christmas party. We ordered it the day before, and they were able to get it ready for the next day. This amount of food could feed around 25 people. Everyone loved the food, but just keep in mind that it is a little spicy. For me, the spice was lovely, but for some who are not use to it, it could be a little much. Overall, the service and food was great. I will definitely be back to grab a single dinner dish. Thank you to all the staff for your hard work. You all are greatly appreciated. Keeping hungry people fed is a great honour. God bless.
