Tried out island food for launch. Jerk chicken was seasoned well. but for both roti and jerk chicken there were way TOO many potatoes. Also rice had little of an after taste. For the price the portion of jerk chicken was not worth it. Roti was pretty stuffed. They also offer in house sauce which is popular… staff is friendly !

I went to grab some take out for lunch. Busy but not crazy. The place was very clean. Staff were friendly and fast. Food was yum. If you like spice, ask for hot and it had good flavour.

In 2002 I lived near King and Dufferin, and I didn’t have a full kitchen. I ate the exact same meal at Island Foods constantly- sometimes 7 days a week. Boneless chicken dinner with an extra of Channa and spinach, and a plain roti with chicken gravy. That location eventually closed. But I always considered it the very best Roti spot in town. Much to my surprise, I was working in the East end and discovered that they have a Don Mills location. I just finished eating my original order (they were out of spinach so I tried the eggplant) and believe it or not, nearly 20 years later, it tastes exactly the same. It’s the same family, and they definitely have preserved the original recipes. Amazing!!!

Most arrogant worst service. Only 3 people working there. Young lady in the front is very polite and friendly. However, the female "Chef" also stands in the front and didn't even Crack a smile or say hello. Appeared extremely arrogant and was watching the young girl like a hawk. I seriously had second thoughts about making a u turn out of there after seeing the chef's demeanor and expression. I didn't feel that they valued or respected my business. I thought the food would be worth it, however as you can tell by the photos, the curry was a watery soup with no thick gravey at all The taste is exactly how it looks, bland and watery. The doubles as you notice has barely if any masala and is also bland. The thin fluffy roti as Trini's are known for, this is a big disappointment and is nothing like it. These ones are thick and RAW, take a look at the edges! People that claim this is the best west indian restaurant in the city, obviously don't know what authentic Caribbean food tastes like. Based on the responses from the owner from other reviews, I know they will be defensive when reading this. Perhaps this is part of the poor customer service, the defensive attitude and not being able to take constructive criticism. Everyone knows the customer is always right, and they say that for a reason. Perhaps it would be helpful to be open to customer's feedback. After all, they are the ones that make or break a business.

Literally the best roti hands down! I used to work down the street from the location on King Street which closed down. This was a family staple for me from going to the CNE and Caribana. Then when I started working in the area at least twice a month I would get roti for lunch. We had the pleasure of getting a roti recently and was not disappointed. My roti was a boneless curry chicken roti with slight pepper. I get this in a container with gravy on top and pepper on top as well. When I tell you this roti was full of flavor! It had the juiciest chicken and the right amount of aloo (potato) inside. I have tried several roti shops in Peel region and none of them come close to Island Foods. It's the most authentic West Indian roti shop in my opinion. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a good quality roti. Side note, their patties are amazing as well! The pictures I took do not do it justice. My roti is in the container which I eat with knife and fork as it's covered in gravy. The roti that was cut is one that comes wrapped. You could just open the paper and bite into it however it was for a child so I cut it in 4 so it's easier to hold and eat.

So the reason I gave 4 stars is because of the finished product. I will start off by saying the food tastes very good. However I was very confused when our order came and I got a roti in a plastic bowl and it seemed they poured the curry sauce all over it and by the time it was delivered to me, it was kind of a mess and the roti itself was....soggy? As a West Indian person I have never eaten a roti like this. I'm just unsure about why they decided to put the sauce ontop of the roti. Others at my work were also confused about this as well. The taste of the curry potatoes was amazing but the soggy roti really ruined it for me and if I knew this or had an option to not have it this way, I would have chose that. Still the food was excellent and perhaps if you guys could, please make this an option in the future. Update 4/24 Thank you for the response ownership. I have edited my review to 5 stars. I am unsure why we got it like that, I will make sure next time we order from here to request it without the sauce on top like this.

Used to order from here all the time but the last time the majority of the roti was all bread with hardly any filling. This place is getting cheap.

If you like Caribbean cuisine, this place is great. Awesome service, peaceful atmosphere, very good quality food at a reasonable price. I love coming here for a good roti, oxtail and goat. The staff are friendly and polite, the food clearly made with dedication and care.

I have been eating potato roti since I was a young girl. Thankfully, this location is still in operation and was quite saddened to see King/Dufferin location close up due to development. (same thing happened to my Richtree restaurant @ Bayview/York Mills corner) Update: today, June 2nd I was craving a potato roti since my last visit in Toronto so I drove all the way from north Brampton for one and a plain one for a 9 year old semi Trinidadian friend of our family. I am elated to know this family is the same one that serviced me & my parents from the time I can remember eating roti. They have both passed and I will keep our tradition by visiting more when I am able, I can't get over what I learned today and OMGOSH what a small world it keeps getting. See you soon daughter of father who attended same private school where I worked for almost 10 years.😀I added more photos for your customers, new & older to look at how everyone loves your menu!

I recently ordered an oxtail meal with spinach and steamed vegetables from your establishment through SkipTheDish on Monday, 17th April. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the quality of the meal as it arrived swimming in what appeared to be oil or water (picture attached below). While I understand that mistakes can happen, I was working from home and thankfully had alternative food to prepare. However, this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth, and I am hesitant to support your establishment again. As a new resident in the area, I was excited to try out some great Caribbean food. However, I was let down by the presentation and packaging of the meal. I implore you to take more pride in packaging your meals when sending them out to the public. Overall, I hope that this review serves as constructive feedback for your establishment. While my experience was disappointing, I am willing to give your establishment another chance in the future if improvements are made.

I absolutely love this restaurant! This is a family owned restaurant which is a staple of the community! Try the beef roti here you will not be disappointed! By far the best roti in the City! My family and I have been coming here for many years and it is still the best place that serves rotis in Toronto.

This place has some of the best Caribbean food I have ever had. Great Trini and Jamaican dishes. Best Jamaican patty and double I have ever gotten that wasn’t homemade. The chicken roti was also very good. Highly recommend. The staff was extremely friendly as well and new a lot of the customers. I will definitely be going back.

Never have I had take-out food store be so rude and not willing to admit their mistakes. I’ve came here before because it’s on my way home from work. Usually, I get off late and I like to grab something quick. I decided to grab food from here today, asked for spicy jerk chicken and was given something else. When I went in my car to eat my food, I noticed they gave me a completely different order. I went back and let them know, they got extremely defensive, got very rude, and said that they would not give me what I asked for because I ate from the food that they gave me, which I DID NOT … there is no reason for me to touch food that I don’t like. I asked for jerk chicken and they gave me some type of stew Chicken. I’ve never even had stew chicken. These ladies were so defensive, I knew I wasn’t gonna get what I asked for so I didn’t even bother arguing and just left. I’ve worked in customer service, I would never dare treat a customer or client this way. I will not be returning. I will be telling all my friends not to come back because of the attitude and rudeness of the workers. Very unfortunate. Hire people who value customer service. Do better next time.

Got the goat curry n rice. There was like 4 pieces of goat. Super plain flavor and no curry at all. I was literally starving and excited to try this place out. Doubles tasted good though but it was tiny. Ive had better doubles n goat curry else where. Probably wont be back.

Fantastic place. A friend did order "fixings" and some of them they did not have, but I don't know enough to know what exactly they didn't or did have or what exactly they were. I just read their instructions. 😂 I ordered the boneless goat roti and was not let down. Haven't been here in a while but when we're in the area, this is the place to go. And they are super friendly! 😊

This place is great, been going there for many years. The goat is delicious every single time and it’s not expensive for what you get. Very fast, not much waiting time. Love that it’s a local family business with the same lovely ladies behind the counter. Will order more often. :-).

Normally I love Island Foods food, service leaves something to be desired. The Chana Roti is crave-able for sure. My husband just went completely out of his way to go to Island Foods to pick up lunch, it's Friday Sept 3 before the long weekend, 12:00 pm, online says they are open today until 8 pm, only to find that the store was closed. Pretty brutal, it's a Friday at lunch time, yeah everyone needs a vacation, I get it (as I sit at my desk working), but then it should be posted online so people who are working don't waste their time. Needless to say, will not be going back.

The best rotis and doubles you will ever have! I have been going there since they were located many years ago in the Dufferin Mall!!! I am so sad that they had to move off of King Street. My husband is going to find his way up there to grab us some Rotis. Also the staff is so friendly. They are quite generous with their Portions!!!!

This is my second time coming here and both times the food was great! I ordered the curry chicken breast dinner and it was really tasty and flavourful with the perfect amount of sauce.

I was at Island Foods last Saturday. I just did not get a chance to write a review. I have never written a review actually. Best roti I have had in a decade. I cried tears of joy!!! A welcome taste of home.

I have to be honest. When Island Seafood was on King Street, they were absolutely amazing. I ordered a goat roti and doubles. The roti was good but I’ve had better and the doubles were fantastic. They must be doing OK cause they had a line up there for lunch. This review is just based on what I had that day. I’ll go back and try their ox-tail. I’m told that their ox-tail is really good.

Awesome little Carribean restaurant serving standard Carribean fare. Great for takeout, as they do have limited seating.

I have taken out meals from each location and now get it mainly from Markham. The roti is soft and pillowy and the channa filling is so tasty with beautiful spices. The food is made fresh to order and quality is consistent. The staff is very friendly and you can see that it is a labour of love.
