The
baroque
Wolfenbüttel
Castle
is
a
work
of
art
made
of
wood.
The
facade
was
placed
in
front
of
a
castle
complex
in
the
17th
century.
The
building
is
considered
the
second
largest
preserved
castle
in
Lower
Saxony.
Today
the
castle
fulfills
several
functions
and,
in
addition
to
a
school,
also
houses
a
museum
that
takes
you
back
to
the
time
when
it
was
last
actually
used
as
a
residence.
From
the
early
18th
century
onwards,
the
dukes
resided
in
the
new
city
palace
in
Braunschweig,
whose
new
building
is
now
a
shopping
center
after
being
completely
destroyed
in
the
war.
In
the
Wolfenbüttel
Castle
Museum,
the
ducal
government
rooms
and
dining
rooms
have
been
preserved
and
lovingly
decorated.
This
shows
that
everyday
life
was
busy
for
the
nobles
back
then,
because
the
absolute
rulers
of
their
time
had
to
submit
to
strict
court
regulations.
Not
only
the
Duke
as
ruler
had
reception
rooms,
but
also
his
wife
as
ruler.
A
visit
at
a
low
price
is
worthwhile
and
recommended.
