Sehr sehr sehr zu empfehlen. Online reserviert (mittags für abends) und wir saßen aufgrund schlechten Wetters drinnen, wo es eine sehr schöne,schlichte Einrichtung gibt. Die Karte ist übersichtlich gestaltet. Es gibt ein 4 Gang Menü für 48€ (hier wäre eine Auswahl für den Hauptgang perfekt) und ein 12 Gang Überraschungsmenü für 99€. Die a la carte Speisen sind aber auch extrem gut. Das gesamte Personal war sehr aufmerksam und nett.

A mid-priced restaurant producing delicious and adventurous dishes in a pretty river-side location. In good weather you sit on the terrace by the river in the shade of an apple tree and a fig tree. The menu is sensibly short, but every dish is carefully crafted and beautifully presented. The staff are kind and attentive. On a hot day I would recommend the delicious iced paprika-papaya soup. The area around the restaurant, Nikolaiviertel, is one of the few parts of central Berlin which survived the war-time bombing and gives a taste of how lovely pre-war Berlin must have been.

This restaurant is an excellent place! We decided to take the mushroom menu with wine on the terrace which offered a nice atmosphere. The whole staff was always there and fulfilled extra wishes where possible. In the end there is just one little drawback: The dessert was not even slightly comparable to all previous dishes which was a shame. Even without it I would have been happy to pay the price for the rest. So please go there, enjoy it and kitchen team of Balthazar work on this small disappointing part!

Essen war sehr gut. Wir hatten das 4-Gang-Menü, das hinsichtlich Qualität für den Preis hervorragend war. Leider hat der Service später etwas nach gelassen: Wein wurde z.B. nicht nach geschenkt, etc. Insgesamt aber immer noch prima.

A delicious fusion fare you won’t forget. Full of surprising twist of worldly flavors, this place will awake your tastebuds. It has completely changed my view of German cuisine. A must visit for those on a hunt of exquisite food!

Balthazar is a fine restaurant with a superb location. It blends a very cozy atmosphere with good food. The menu is daily, and specials are truly special. What we need from this restaurant like many others in Berlin, the adoption of 0km-farm to table/farm to fork concept/policy where we can trace ingredients and eat seasonal/local/regional/fair trade/ sustainable produce/products. I think Berlin deserves this.

The best fusion food I have in Berlin is here. Great taste and delicious food. Great staff and very professional top class service. Tiny small portions and bit expensive but who cares when you enjoying all.

Very nice experience. Kind and very helpful service. Pleasant atmosphere and good location near the river. Food was descent, but nothing outstanding. From what I ordered only the desert stood out. Overall a strong 4 stars with a great potential for 5.

Lovely restaurant overlooking the river, location is lovely staff and food where fantastic and at 15€ for a 2 course lunch was excellent value. Visited twice on my last trip very enjoyable.

The food was okay. The atmosphere of the restaurant was okay - they could have put more distance between our table and the ones beside us, which led to the waiter having to nearly stand directly beside me while serving the table beside us. It was a nice experience as a one-off, but I doubt I’ll return as I don’t think it was worth the price.

Pretty good overall but maybe a bit too salty, would have expect something more elaborated and healthy. Maybe I just got the wrong expectations from the restaurant description ! Still a good experience.

Unbearably rude. I urge to stay away. I have lived and ate all around the world (and berlin). Never in my life have I had this bad of an experience. Edit to answer your comment: It’s all fine if the place is fully booked. I am not complaining for that at all. Your staff kicked us out when we were simply asking to get a table. And we did not even insist on it, we entered and just asked for a table…We were in disbelief of what had just happened. There is no excuse for treating people like this, let alone customers. You should consider retraining your staff from 0. One good note: The young guy was actually nice and trying to explain the situation before the other dude bullied us out.

The location is exceptional, the service is professional and the food is delicious. We tried their chicken, schnitzels and kopf salad- they were divine. We had a unique evening there- on the bank of the river, under the branches of the fig tree, in the light of the lanterns...

Enjoyed the food, wine and service on a technical level, but we didn't feel very welcome. The waiter felt agitated, distant and like he was having a bad day.

Excellent food and dishes. Staff is lovely and we had a very pleasant experience with the 3 dishes course.

Uneven. The soup was fantastic, the trout fish was great, the burrata salad was good, the pork filet was good, the wine was excellent, and the chocolate dessert with ice cream was boring. For what it pretends to be, it doesn't make it.

We tried 12 course tasting menu, which made the dinner an over 3h sitting. The food is excellent, the portions surprisingly big especially when one's accustomed to meagre London portions.

The big shame to this place. The worst experience I ever had in Germany and even Europe! Your waiters try to trick your guests! We are from Ukraine. We traveled a lot before the war. And for the first time in Europe I faced the situation when waiter tried to take 9 euro more for our order! And even worse. He asked me if he needs to give me the rest from 50 euro, when our bill was 42,5 euro (and in reality in was 34). The waiter didn't want to accept his fault! Thanks God, one of our friends speak German and she helped us to manage this issue. We don't have any income now and we saved this money more than one month to have nice evening with the friends! Not recommend this place!

The food was good, but they took over 1 hour and 20 minutes to bring the dishes to our table. The party of 10 in front of our table (party of 4) came after us and got their food delivered before us. I must add that at least 2 of them ordered similar if not the same dishes, meaning that cooking time was not a factor. Moreover, the waiter was not friendly and even rude. We are definitely not coming back and wouldn’t recommend it.

The meals were outstanding. Fancy and original in a classy manner. High-level waiters. Considering the overall quality, the price are very low !

If you like great cuisine, professional service and the unique atmosphere down by the Spreeufer canal in the evening then you have come to the right place. Two days in a row we have eaten here and the conclusion is overwhelmingly positive. The Balthazar is the place to go in Berlin. No doubt.

Looks maybe a bit like a tourist spot, but do not be fooled. The food is outstanding and at a good price. The service is so professional, attentive and friendly. I have not expierenced anything like it, unless it was a Michelin star restaurant. I will recommend this place to everyone I know and will from now on allways eat here when I am in Berlin. Thank you!
