This is a small, chilling memorial to the more than 70,000 individuals murdered (“euthanized”) under the “mental hygiene” program called Aktion T4 (short for the address of the Chancellory office at Tiergardenstraße 4, where the memorial is now located). The actual memorial is a long, translucent blue wall (lots of interesting symbolism in that, worth looking up online). In front of the wall is a series of plaques with specific examples of individuals killed under this program and an overview of the program itself. The murder of individual citizens deemed “mentally unfit” (i.e. people with various psychological disorders, learning disabilities or tendencies to violate societal norms) is a significant but lesser-known chapter in the campaign of destruction and genocide perpetrated by the Nazi party under Hitler during WWII. This memorial is an important look at the way people on the fringes of society were viewed and treated in Nazi Germany.

Another exhibit in Berlin I found very emotional. This is the site of the headquarters of Aktion or T4. The organization coordinated the collection and killing of the people who had medical and mental health issues during the German Reich. The outside exhibit tells the stories of different victims and their condition. You also learn how many of the doctors and nurses were placed on trial after the war for their involvement.

(Translated by Google) The blue wall at the Philharmonie Memorial to the euthanasia murders Between 1940 and 1945 the so-called euthanasia murders were committed under the code name "Action T4". The planning center of the Nazis was located in Berlin's Tiergartenstrasse 4, where the Berliner Philharmoniker give concerts in their magnificent building. Today, a 24-meter-long blue wall commemorates the killing of 300,000 people who were planned and coordinated at the time because they were sick or disabled. The artistic design was taken over by Ursula Wilms together with Nikolaus Koliusis and Heinz W. Hallmann. They called their work “opposite”. Scientists from the Technical University of Munich have added historical content for the information desk with texts and images. 3,000 medical records of victims of "euthanasia" killings were historically processed.  The ceremonial opening of the memorial was in September 2014 and has been open to the public since then.

The brutal truth presented. I think it's great that the truth is shown well here and doesn't go into the filing cabinet. Very informative. We can all learn from this so that we can never tolerate it again.

A stark monument explaining how the infirm and troubled German people were removed from hospitals and murdered to make room for the wounded soldiers.

Simple and beautiful with some information about the time. There, a little away - behind the Berlin Philharmonic Hall - you can take your time to read everything and take in everything in peace.

A depressing memorial with a lot of information about the atrocities, the victims and also the perpetrators as well as a lot of background information. You should take about 3/4 hour to read all the documents calmly and let them take effect. Depending on your mood, a pack of tissues can be helpful, or a small bottle of water to drink if the impressions are making you feel choked up. It is all the sadder that despite these atrocities and the often quoted thesis "NEVER AGAIN!" In fact, in 2018, a state government passed a law on helping the mentally ill again, in which it expressly states in Article 38 "Based on this law, the basic rights to life, ... (and others) ... can be restricted ." With this background, you actually want to sink into the ground at the memorial site for Action T4, crying from the shame of others.

A beautiful monument dedicated to lives lost from euthanasia clinics during the holocaust. The location of the monument was chosen because the headquarters of the Aktion T4 program was the building that is behind the monument now (Tiergarten 4). The information in front of the display is in English and German with braille on the electronic information spots. Although the electronic information boxes were not operating today, the display conveys enough information to educate people on the topic of euthanasia clinics. The monument is very accessible for assistive devices of any size.

(Translated by Google) Great expression of how those on the same side look the same but those on the other side of the glass look different. Reason why many disabled people were killed in concentration and extermination camps. The memorial consists of a glass wall, with descriptions and information written out as you walk along it. It is worth visiting to learn what happened to disabled people during World War II.

Very interesting and important memorial. While Germany has done much effort to do not forget its past, disabled people victims of Eutanasia were not granted the same respect and attention from the country. The memorial was made only because of the public claims.

It's very interesting, but the glass plate needs to be cleaned again. It is covered in water stains and you can hardly read the writing anymore.

Simplistic but informative of a horrible part of history that isn't emphasized as much as the more dramatic death camps.

(Translated by Google) Quite impactful. Knowing that many health professionals helped to kill people they thought should die: children who didn't learn, schizophrenics, alcoholics, or who wouldn't be fit for work. How crazy these guys once had this power in their hands. I hope that humanity does not forget and always has its eyes wide open… (Original) Bastante impactante.

(Translated by Google) The memorial represents a part of the history that is known to few, or the extermination of the disabled; like all memorials it is useful if you know the story, even if some information panel is there and it is appreciable that there are aids for blind and deaf people.
