We were in Brussels researching about their Jewish Quarter and found this great museum that included photos of ancient synagogues in Amsterdam. This is part of our Semah de Valencia family investigation.

I am not educated on Jewish history, I visited this museum on the fist Sunday of the month where you can get in for free. I would only say that it is a small one, there is 2 movies you can watch. I guess you can finish it all in 60-90 minutes maximum.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful exhibition on the Jewish community, to do for this part! For the various other exhibitions it remains to be worked on, the house is beautiful and has great potential.

(Translated by Google) Entering the museum is an experience in itself. The metal detector is unfortunately a sad result of a cowardly attack. I was fascinated by the permanent collection. First floor was graced with religious Jewish music that immersed me. Temporary exhibition about superheroes was not my thing. The Moroccan exhibition on the upper floor also cost me some trouble. In both cases, the presentation was well thought out. A big compliment for this.

Free on 1st Sunday of the month. Museum is fair and a good way to acquaint yourself with Judaism. There are 2 movies as well beside the exhibition. For me, it was not that interesting except that you get to know more about suffering of jews in the past.

Very nice experience with a great guide for an ephemeral exhibition, she was very helpful, open-minded and knew her subject, it was more than pleasant and worth it! It is more than interesting even if pretty heavy. I totally recommend.

Currently closed for renovations (June 2017). I was very surprised to turn up and see the museum closed and two armed soldiers guarding outside. It would be helpful if the museum website could tell visitors when it will be re-opening.

For a city with a lot of Jewish history, the Belgium Jewish Museum is disappointing. The building is not well maintained and the exhibition is not very well curated and old fashioned. For those interested in Jewish history in Benelux, I would recommend the Jewish History Museum in Amsterdam.

I loved it. It’s informative and well presented. The most complex topics are explained, like festivals and their origin, in a way that makes understanding very easy for non jews. The temp exhibits when I visited where also special and worthy. I can say despite having read a fair amount about Jewish topics I did learn details about Jewish history in general and Belgian Jews in particular that I didn’t know before, which is great. The personnel were warm, welcoming and helpful. Special for me, was the work of Belgian (or with some Belgian connection) contemporary Jewish artists. I very much enjoyed it.

(Translated by Google) It’s important to spend time visiting the place, it’s full of history and humanity. Several exhibitions are presented. On the ground floor in the first building, there is a contemporary exhibition (painting, painting). On the upper floors, it's the Jewish exhibit. This exhibition is divided into different points; Culture ; life ; people ; values ; overseas. The second building is for temporary exhibitions, that's fine but there is a lack of depth, of content. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the premises (lots of dust).

(Translated by Google) This museum has concrete plans to move to a more modern building. We can only applaud that. Now our visit left us a bit hungry. Especially the temporary Lewy exhibition was beautiful. Small is beautiful. The upper floors showed various (permanent) exhibitions, including one on Jewish rites / holidays. This one was quite interesting, but the setup was very museum style from a distant past. But we are sure this will be better in the new museum. The reception was correct. Not a negative experience like some reviewers had here.

(Translated by Google) Very interesting exhibitions on various aspects of Jewish culture and (also more recent) Jewish history in Belgium. Security checks at the entrance are even stricter than those at the airport, which has unfortunately been necessary since there was a fatal terrorist attack there. When you get in there is a friendly welcome. The museum itself is small and manageable, when I was there there were only a few visitors. So you can let the exhibits take effect in a devout atmosphere. However, the whole ambience also looks a bit dusty. A refresh and a move away from the predominant display of objects behind showcases would be desirable, as there are many new approaches today. There is a display of many interesting books on the first or second floor, but you have to buy them elsewhere.
