We happened on this area while driving through the town. There was a medieval festival going on. The area was absolutely beautiful with an old church ruin. The area would even be nice if there was nor a festival going on. Was a very nice walk. The newer church is also very beautiful. We were very glad we stopped by and checked out this very old area.

Another incredible historic site. No charge to walk the complex with the abbey, chapel, city walls and castle. Mix of ruin and refortified and in use. There’s lots of nooks and crannies to explore and huge trees. One thing that was really unique to this site was a map of the complex color coded by period of construction from the Roman to the Goths to the Renaissance on to present day. There’s a paid parking lot across the street and probably free street parking in the old city. The city of Calw is a cute little fairy tale village. There is a café on site but it was not open on the day we were there. Most of the complex is ADA accessible on cobblestones, cement and packed dirt but there are also some steps. Great for the whole family.

Nice place to be only thing is you have to walk a little if you don't show up early because parking is limited but it was worth the wait. I like the fact that the waiter New English. I didn't like the bees flying around but maybe that adds to the ambience. It was a good experience overall. Kenny Chicago

Beautiful grounds and a wonderful little Cafe as you enter. Can't beat the views or the history if you're interested in seeing it. Kids loved it and there was tons of courtyards (hof) all around.

It is very beautiful and free to the public. Parking is outside and is 2 hours for free I think. If you are within 30 minutes or heading into The Black Forest and its along the way def swing by.
