👍👍 Pretty Dirty? Really please see the pictures! I think someone wants to write a poor review out of spite. This gym is cleaned, daily, please tell me another 5600 sq. ft. gym that gets mopped door to door everyday. Oh and if you need hand sanitizer, we provide it for free so you don't have to bring it... People often mention boxing, Duane, Pound, learn, class, workout, great, classes,

We recently held a corporate event at the Pound Gym for about 30 employees. This event consisted of 3 separate custom boxing sessions. Our vision for this event was that it would align with our 2019 company theme of "Sweatin' The Details" and be an overall a good time for our employees. Duane B and his team far exceeded our expectations! Our teams had a wide range of boxing experience. Duane did a fantastic job of adjusting his instruction to the individual needs of each participant and encouraging our teams to push themselves beyond their comfort zone. The Pound Gym facility and equipment was clean and in great shape. And the overall vibe was AWESOME! As someone who had never boxed before this event, I felt comfortable and welcomed from the moment I entered the gym. In addition to our corporate event, I also attended one of Duane's early morning sessions. The Box+ Basics session was perfectly designed for individuals with different boxing experience and has encouraged me to try boxing for fitness again.

Lotion and Q-tips in the bathroom and some of the best classes in the Valley. We cover all the bases, so if you have something negative to say, keep it moving we don't have time for frowned faces!

This is the best boxing gym I've been to! The class sizes are small enough that the instructor can provide individualized feedback and my boxing technique has really improved. The studio is well maintained/clean. The best part is that the people who come to this gym are kind and welcoming - it feels like a little community. Highly recommend!

I love boxing classes with Duane and his team. Even if you’ve never punched anything your whole life, you’ll be fine. You always get a great workout but the best part is that they take the time to teach you about the sport. Proper technique, stance, motion, etc. I am in better shape and more confident in myself because I'm learning how to be better at something. Great for all ages from kids to 60s and 70s. I’m 40 and often the youngest in class.

I have never stepped foot into a boxing gym before. I found The Pound Gym online and reached out. Duane was very inviting and friendly when I was unsure and had a ton of questions. I attended my first class at the beginning of May… I had no clue what to expect… and I’ve been hooked ever since! Everyone is very friendly and are all there to learn boxing and to get a great workout in. Duane has been very patient teaching the fundamentals to someone like myself that has never boxed a day in my life. He has been able to push and encourage me to do a little more and a little better every time I walk into the gym. I’m very happy I found The Pound Gym and am being taught the proper technique of boxing by a consummate professional like Duane!

Ruined my confidence with boxing. I really tried to avoid this review but after a year, I decided to write a review. I'm a beginner boxer. I came in on a Friday night for Boxing basics and it was taught by Duane. He decided to pair people up for drills. I'm 5'6 in my forties and he paired with a 6'2 guy in his twenties and outweighs me by 40 pounds at least. The drill was throwing light jabs to partner's glove to learn about spacing. My partner who is very "punch heavy" and loves violence kept hitting me in my face. It was a CLEAR advantage for my parter becuase he's much taller and with a longer reach. Duane saw this. It was supposed to last 2 rounds but Duane kept me and my partner to do the drill over and over again. He kept yelling at me to move my feet a certain way which was never taught to us in class and it was hard when you have a 6'2 guy throwing hard jabs in your face hard. He kept doing this drill with me and only him again, again, and again. It's to the point were the entire class just stopped to watch this man repeated punch me in the face over and over again. I understand that Duane wanted to me learn but my partner was trying to kill me and going full force. I obvliously have no idea on how to block and move my feet. AND Duane kept making us doing the drill again, again, again. So this is what happened, I get repeated punched in a face by a man much taller than me who's trying to knock me out, Duane screaming instructions at me and obviously getting disappointed, this lasted for 15 painful mintues. This was not a sparring class, it was a cardio, begginer boxing class to teach about the basics. Afterwards, I heard someone made a comment about me, "he likes getting punched in the face." I tried to talk to Duane afterwards to learn what I could have done differently but he didn't care and just wanted to go home. I quit boxing and I will NEVER come in again.

I see some reviews that have given the gym 1 star and I believe these are personal attacks from bitter people or competitors. The gym is immaculate. Please see the pictures I provided or stop in and see for yourself. I think they have several world champion trainers and the facility is the nicest gym I have seen in Scottsdale. The classes are busy but not over packed and the instructors really know what they are doing. I wouldn't believe people who leave one star reviews for almost every business they review, seems like hate speech to me! Enjoy The Pound!

Excellent Gym. Great coaches. Best place to learn boxing in a safe and friendly environment. This is not a fancy gym with lots of fancy machines. If you want that go somewhere else. Go somewhere else if you want to watch TV while you sit on a machine. But if you want to work and learn something, then this is the place. This is a place to learn boxing and get a great workout from great coaches.

The Pound Gym is by far one of the best gyms around. Weather you're trying to get in shape or learn boxing competitively, Dwayne and the rest of the staff are experienced and very educated. There are classes for all ages and all experience levels. You will definitely see an improvement in your childs discipline and self-confidence after a few classes. Great family environment and very clean. You can swing by and observe a class at any time.

I absolutely love The Pound Gym! I’ve been to a couple other boxing gyms previously and this is by far the best if you’re looking to not only get a great workout but really learn the punches, stances, and movements 😃. I love that the coaches push you to do more than you want to, to do your best!!!! I’ve recommended this gym to all my friends. ❤️❤️🥊🥊🔥🔥

The pound gym was my first boxing experience and I absolutely love it! Duane, the owner, truly cares about all his members and is so passionate about teaching! You feel welcome immediately as you step in the gym! Fun group classes and you burn a lot of calories. I highly recommend taking personal training with Duane too!

Joined a few months ago a completely out of shape jobber. So glad I did! Thanks to Duane and coach Castro my fitness has improved tremendously and my skills are slowly following suit. Classes are fun and challenging for any skill/fitness level. Duane is the man and is not only knowledgeable but cares about his clients. The pound is a great place to push yourself and be your best! You’d be silly not to try it.

A quick read through Duane’s background will confirm that his boxing credentials are legit. But it’s his skill as an instructor that really distinguishes the experience at Pound Gym. Duane is a an excellent teacher who takes pride in his work and pushes members to be their best. The vibe is inclusive and inspiring and I’m proud to be learning the art of boxing at Pound.

"I've been on my boxing journey for over two years, starting at a national franchise that closed its doors. This twist of fate led me to Duane and The Pound in Scottsdale. From the first intense and eye-opening workout, I was completely captivated. The Pound isn't just about breaking a sweat; it's a hub of genuine boxing knowledge where the trainers are masters of the craft. The focus on technique and the essence of boxing is what sets this gym apart. Each session is more than just a workout; it's a lesson in the 'sweet science', gradually refining my skills and pushing me beyond my limits. For anyone looking to dive into authentic boxing training, The Pound is the perfect place to lace up your gloves and learn from the best. Their patient and knowledgeable instruction ensures you improve with every jab and hook. Highly recommended!"

Here for the weekend and I wish I'd found this spot to go boxing earlier so I could've come more than once. Super low key chili vibes, instructor is legit, people are so friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend if you're in town!
