The evening through overnight nursing staff were not only cold and flippant, but the level of care provided was subpar to say the very least. Following admission, I was forgotten at every meal and ended up eating nothing but one prepackaged turkey sandwich 2 days in a row. When answering call bells, 90% of nursing staff appeared bothered or interrupted. That aside, the dinning service employees were not only efficient, but had a delightful bedside manner and did a great job in showing patients consideration, value, and empathy. Lab services was also incredible. Very accurate, professional and prepared. They too are very bright stars amidst a dark depressing sky. I could go on and on regarding the employees of these auxiliary services. To reiterate, the nursing staff is not completely incompetent. I can individually name the best nurses in charge of my care during a very long, complicated, life changing stay and I’d like to think there know who they are. I’m sure they have earned themselves a reputation for stars of their profession. Aside from the positive aspects noted, my 14 day stay was awful, in all aspects, with the delivery (non-delivery) of care making it exponentially worse.

This was the first time I had an out-pt imaging done at Regional. Since I didn’t realize I was in the wrong building, a nurse who was just arriving to work, realized my dilemma, went out of her way and walked me across the road to the information desk. Everyone was polite and helpful. I was assisted by the person who checked me in at the CT unit in an unhurried but efficient manner. The tech who performed the CT explained everything that would happen and helped me to feel comfortable. The whole process from arriving at the hospital until I left took less than an hour. A definite 5!!

Being an Active Duty Military family and being stationed in Pennsylvania, we are not to familiar with how local hospitals operate here. We arrived at this hospital and was greeted fairly. After waiting for 3.5 hours to be taken to back, we sat another 3 hours waiting for someone to say something. After waiting patiently we ended up just leaving and making an appointment with an express clinic. There was no communication, direction, or leadership displayed by any staff member. I was truly lost and asked myself over and over what is going in here. Everyone seemed mad!! My wife ended up finding out she may have staph, she looked this up on the internet.

Dr Stopper performed a pacer implant on me. He's obviously a very competent surgeon and also a great guy. Everything went well, no complaints. The operating room staff and nursing staff were great! However I was a bit disappointed that I didn't receive a follow up call the day after. I've had many surgeries and this was the very first time someone from the hospital didn't call to see how I was doing. Sadly this is why it's a 4 star rating.

My appointment was at 3:30. I arrived at 3:10. I was not checked in until 3:45 and didn't have the Cat Scan until 4:00. I was late getting to work. There needs to be more than one patient representative checking people in.

I have personally never had a good experience with this hospital ER, and I will never go again after this recent visit. Unfortunately due to Moses Taylor closing the ER that was the reason for going there. I'm just so glad I paid for a visit to have the physician Assistant come back and say and I quote.. "we googled your rash and you were correct about it being due to your medication" so when you go to regional for a serious issue I hope they aren't googling how to fix it. Good luck 🤞

Had a horrible experience here Thanksgiving night 2021. The ER staff did their best to kill my husband as they watched him have an MI and didn’t bother to even give nitro or O2. The hospital stay was horrible, poor care, unbelievably inept. I wrote a detailed letter to the hospital management, NEVER RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE. They do not care. Last night I had to take my mother here because basically there is no other choice in this area. Although the ER care was much better, I cannot speak to her nurse this morning. I’ve called twice and waited an hour and 40 minutes. I’m rudely told, “The nurse is very busy with a lot of patients.” I really don’t care. An hour and 40 minutes and still no call back. I understand they’re busy, I AM AN RN TOO. The staff is so overwhelmed and overworked, they simply do not care anymore about patients or families.

If I could put a zero star, But since it isn’t an option, I’m gonna put one. Terrible is not enough to to describe the experience that I had there and it’s not the first time. I blame myself for going there after having two similar cases before with my husband and with my brother. Arrived at the hospital at 8:20 PM and was there until 1:30 AM with a eight month old baby who had a rash. After two hours of being there, I went nicely to the desk and asked the girl to please check on the back and see if somebody is gonna come and check on my baby, all careless, she said, ma’am you gotta sit down. They’ll call you when they’ll call you. At least 10 people that came after me got seen before me and I know this works in a matter of how urgent I need is but I’m talking about Eight months old baby in here. After more than three hours and me going multiple times to the front desk asking to be seen because my child was crying I was taken by this woman And again on the inside corridors, while the nurses and all the staff were sitting on the desk chitchatting, laughing, drinking coffee and making fun of the patients. I asked multiple nurses while I was on the inside corridors. When am I gonna be seen because it was after midnight my baby was so tired and sleepy. The woman that took me inside the corridor, shouted from the corner you’re freaking child, has a rash just sit down and wait for somebody to come or leave!!!! I told her that I wasn’t talking to her because she didn’t have a nurse badge on, but she claimed that she was the person in charge, but refused to tell me her name when she saw that I wanted her name to report her. This hospital sees reviews like this all the time, but never do anything about it. This is to warn people that go there. Please go somewhere else. Unless you wanna be made fun of marked and treated like garbage. When you don’t have compassion for a little baby, why are you in that profession at all? Dirty place, Rude and untrained staff, just catastrophe!!! Shame on you, if the services were free, people shouldn’t Have been treated like that let alone that they Have to be on dept all their life to pay the bills the come from your hospital.

As vulnerable as this is still leaving this review because I care for others & hope I can prevent someone else from having a similar experience. My mother died here and although she had underlying conditions I from the bottom of my heart contribute her passing to the lack of care she received at this hospital. While in ICU she was treated golden but she was sent to a discharge floor and that's where it went south. She had been intubated & was doing PT (they told us for each day under she needed 3 days of therapy to regain strength). Somehow nurses on that floor couldn't manage to take care of her. They allowed her to stand up twice within 48hrs of being on that floor, would hand her bed pans as if she had the force to grab one or put it under herself, I was shocked by the lack of training. I witnessed my mom trembling in weakness trying to assist with her mental strength alone because her physical was unable to match. They allowed her to "attempt to walk to the restroom" which triggered a coughing spell and forcing reintubation due to hypoxia. The nurses admitted to me multiple times that she should not have been placed on that floor and required more attentive care. I demanded a hospital transfer for days on end but was met with excuses. She died after being reintubated. I understand my mom passing due to her condition but her death certificate reads respiratory failure -- my heart shatters when I re-live the experience in this hospital. I live with that feeling thinking that had she not gone to this hospital that day she would still be alive. This is a small town hospital and it shows. If you CHOOSE to go there, PLEASE watch and record everything!

My daughter was in and out of the hospital due to pain from being pregnant and having endomitosis. Well, today she started to miscarry and we went to the hospital again. Well all 3 days we were there it was at night and boy let me tell you. There was only one nurse actually working but very cold. All the other nurses sat there talking bad about their patients. It was when I overheard and told them that was illegal is when they stopped. Doctors, we had no clue where any of them where. We were there 7 hours before we could get my daughters ultrasound results and no one ever came in to check on her. When she first got there nurse jayda ripped out my daughters iv like it was nothing. They told me they put people back due to how serious the issues was but Everyone who walked in after us got seen. My niece and sister had to raise hell for anyone to do anything and when we went to use the bathroom. It smelled like a NYC train station nothing but pee. You guys are a hospital and need to do better and coach your staff. People go there when they aren't feeling well and that is when someone is most vulnerable and they should be taken care of and treated nice. I get not everyone has a good day but whoever works there chose that job and knew what they were getting into. Please develop a better night crew. Oh and we were there from 6 pm to 3 am. Oh and the only nice person with compassion was the nurse charge named Julie. She was amazing and had a heart. We appreciate her kindness truly. But do better regional.

My mother was in the emergency room at regional last week and all of the nurses and the doctor was fantastic. I specifically need to point out the technician that helped my mother, her name was Jennifer and she was amazing. She had my mom smiling and laughing every-time she saw us. My mom has been so depressed and scared for weeks that to even see her show any kind of smile or laugh was the most unbelievable thing. Jennifer went out of her way to check on us the entire 6 hours we were there and even one time when I left the room and came back she was in there sitting beside holding my moms hands because she was so upset. I’ve never seen someone so compassionate and so amazing in a setting like this. It was a wonderful hospital and I’m so grateful.

I couldn’t have asked for better care from the emergency room, cat scan, transporters and the 9th. Floor nurses. Rick, and Jessica in the ER were so kind and nice. They put me at ease . The nurse (I forget her name) that put my IV in was great. I am a very difficult stick.. The nurses Jenny, Erin, Solly ( not sure of spelling) and all the other ones who entered my room were fantastic. Each one I encountered should be commended for being such great nurses

Waiting for 3 hours and still haven't taken blood work. Triage wouldn't let me tell them what was wrong, they just took a symptom or two as I was explaining what happened and shoved me back out to the waiting room. Repeated myself multiple times as they wouldn't listen. Kept putting words in my mouth. They "don't know when they'll get to me". I had a very scary experience that needs medical attention and they really don't care. It's been the same group of people in the ER for hours. No one is going in or coming out. I'd give 0 stars if I could.

All of the people that I encountered during my procedure from registration to the OR to post op and discharge were wonderful. However, I found the facility was NOT clean. My husband found that the tracking board was not accurate, ie: when I was discharged the board said that I was just getting to the post op area.

I have a new found hope in America's Health Care. All the true hero's are right here at Regional. Thank you all for knowing your calling. God Bless you all.

initial registration lady was very helpful obtaining my order from the physician office that was to be there. That telephone process usually takes forever. She accomplished it quickly. Insurance registration was quick as well X-ray, receptionist responded quickly. Whole process including a disc was short às well. Overall only about 1 hour in and out. Parking now easier with card or toll booth. Would recommend. I have always used RHOS since age ,11 now 71

Everyone was very nice and answered any questions we had. I was there for a colonoscopy/endoscopy with Dr. Sunday and I had not 1 issue from start to finish. I would definitely recommend having an out patient procedure here.

Dr. Frattali is an amazing doctor. I had a tonsillectomy done with him and am still healing. Although the healing process has not been easy to say the least, him and his staff have been very helpful and attentive in answering my questions or needs. Would definitely recommend him if you are going to get your tonsils out!

Dr. Stopper was beyond amazing. He provided clear, simple - yet detailed explanations of my cardiac issues, answered all of my questions, and was beyond professional. I left feeling much more at ease and confident that he is the surgeon that I want to help solve my multiple heart issues. The office staff was great as well - friendly and welcoming! I could not have been more satisfied or happier with my visit today.

I was told to be there at 7am to register for a 7:15 test. Well, there is only 1 person working the desk at 7, and the whole room was packed! The woman at the desk was great, but I was late for my test because she was alone. She called them to let them know I was there, and it ended up working out, but you should really have a 2nd worker there at 7am when it gets busy. The staff during the test was amazing, and they are always good when my dad has his scheduled procedures too. I will continue to come here for tests, just please get another person at registration for 7am, it’s needed!

Registration was efficient. Technician was very good and explained all details in full. The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 was that restroom facilities need to be updated and thoroughly cleaned.

  • 5/5 Bob C. 2 years ago on Google
Went for testing and had an 845 appointment. Arrived at hospital about 825, got pre -admitted and sent for test. The test started exactly at 846 am and the tech that administered it could not have been more helpful, cheerful and knew what she was doing. When I was finished she was the same. If all medical tests were done like that people wouldn’t have anything to complain about. Very good experience.

Office staff was was very nice, polite and professional. Very helpful. Dr C was extremely nice and professional. He explained everything to us. Answered our questions. Made us feel comfortable and treated us very professionally. He spent extra time with us and we did not feel rushed at all. We have a difficult road ahead of us and I know we are in excellent hands .

My orders for a foot exray could not be found in the system. Called my doctors office twice from Regional Hospital to send it over. Finally after close to 2 hours latter, I had my xray & was done. I've listened to at least 2 other people registering with similar problems. Thank goodness for the receptionist Allison who handled everything very professionally. She was kind, friendly, sympathetic & acted as a true professional. Although they were short staffed during registration, she did everything in a timely manner. Please know how fortunate you are to have such a dedicated & valued employee as part of your staff.

Covid restrictions are now called HIPPA rules. My son who has a processing disorder & was required to go in pre-op and post-op alone. I’ve been through several surgeries, my husband has had several, my kids have had many and never have we had to go through it alone. Discharge papers were blank. Not sure who dropped the ball there. No one managed the surgery waiting room. Left alone everywhere. Made coffee for the whole floor. It was a very disorganized and uncaring process.

From the moment that we entered the ER with symptoms of a heart attack, to getting back into the car after discharge, every Doctor, Nurse, Aide, environmental services and everything in between, Regional was beyond 5 stars in my opinion. My husband did end up having a heart attack and needed a stent, and as serious as it was, we were made to feel welcomed and informed the entire time. I wish I could remember all of the nurses names but special thanks to Johnson, Carrie, Liza and Kay. Nurses aid Toni and all of the others that were so quiet in the middle of the night hat I didn’t get or remember their name. Nothing was left unexplained and I wouldn’t go anywhere for health care

In Regional Hospital for two procedures; Chemical Stress Test, in addition to an Echocardiogram. Staff personnel were pleasant and competent and made me comfortable throughout the appropriate 1 hour I was in their control. Room and equipment were clean. No complaints.

Stayed 2 nights for a fast heart rate. The staff I interacted with was excellent! They did all the tests and everything they could to see what was going on. Nurse Alisha on the 7th floor was my favorite! She was super pleasant, funny, and checked up on me many times. I am a college student and have never stayed in a hospital overnight, but I felt as comfortable as I could be. I know to come here if I am ever in need again!

My daughter is 8.5 months pregnant and went to the ER after her on call OBGYN informed her to do so. She was experiencing pain and sat in the waiting room for 3.5 hours. After finally being taken to the back, she sat there for another 3 hours before even being approached by any medical staff to find out if she had been seen by anyone yet. The doctor and staff had no compassion for the patients that sat there for 8 hours with no answers. My daughter was finally released after 9 hours with instructions to start eating tums!!! Are you really telling me it took 9 hours for that!!! What has happened to our health care system. Do our insurance company pay hospitals for our care by the hour??!! SMH

Everyone from the nursing staff, especially Angel and Ben went above and beyond what it means to be a Nurse. The dietary staff made sure everything was perfect. The food was excellent. The cleaning staff kept things spotless , and always asked if you needed anything. Everyone I encountered made sure my stay was perfect.

My operation was fine. However, the recover was poorly accomplished. My husband had to wait 4 hours to find me as no one was keeping him informed no matter how many times he asked. I was later admitted to the hospital for observation overnight.

The nursing and cleaning staff amazing! My mom got awesome care and she said the meals were very good as as well..dietary friendly ...however...the heart failure Coordinator was misinformed regarding sodium in several food and beverages my mom consumes. She made ny mom stop eating cookies I bought her that only had 3%sodium but lunch was grilled cheese and tomato soup. She as well said my moms beverages she drinks daily were loaded with sodium..no..they have no sodium. My mom is elderly and now very confused. Anyone counseling patients need to be well informed before talking with patients.

It was the worst hospitalization I have experienced (and believe me I’ve had many visits much to my chagrin) the bed was extremely uncomfortable not only that I was starving I arrived there around 2:20 and never ate til 8:00pm and I had to make a rest room visit and I actually had to call the nurse’s station in ER to let them know. I’d wave to staff walking in the hallway & they’d wave back not ask what I needed

I wasn’t left sitting in a waiting room for a long time. Friendly staff. Dr.Roe was very professional, kind, thorough, and patient. He took his time explaining everything to me and answered all my questions. Most importantly, he listened to my concerns. Great bedside manner!

The employees I encountered were very nice and I had NO issues or dissatisfaction with any employee. The hospital itself was like a ghost shell of a place I have stayed in previously. minimal employees seemed like. Encountered only 1 other patient. Was surprised that I was at the place for the appointment with no one there in the wait room or at the desk- just a phone and message to call this extension to check in which I did and was told someone would be right there and someone did show up rather quickly.. I have never seen it so quiet and empty. Made me hope that this area has sufficient medical personnel to help a patient in an emergency.

The care and professionalism of everyone from the doctors and nurses to the dietary personnel to the people cleaning the room has been nothing short of outstanding. I would strongly recommend Regional to anyone who needs medical care. I have been hospitalized in 3 different states in my life and Regional has given me the best care by far of all of them.

I was very, very sick with sepsis. I have adrenal insufficiency and require extra steroids during times of crisis. I repeated this to doctor after doctor but none of them seemed to hear me. Finally, 26 hours later Dr Bensal knew that my steroids needed to be increased and administered by iv every 6 hours!! The other Doctors hadn’t even called my endocrinologist!!! It’s very frustrating to have doctors that just don’t listen to you!! Also I was sent for a ct scan first thing in the morning after a miserable night of fever and sweating. It was freezing there! The technician neither offered me a blanket or any kind of assistance getting on or off machine. I was not very steady on my feet. On a more positive note….I had the same nurse with me during the day and she was wonderful!!! The Best!

Horrible, rearranged my daily meditation to meditation counterproductive to my disease, ignore my disease and needs from my admitting orders. Placed on observation for a cardiac event, however, no cardiac monitoring as ordered in the admission. Asked mutiple times, no response, only , that's not ordered, however it was in the orders and h & p. That was the whole reason for the overnight admission. Cam to floor late afternoon, asked for lunch since I was not since midnight Tuesday 8/15, admitted @3pm Wed 8/16. Still waiting for the lunch. (8/18) . No assistance when asking for water or ice. No one checked in on me except at shift change. The students were the nicest ones there and the CNA Gina, nuecular stress(Dustin) and remote echo (Rusty). That's it. Would not take my dog back here. Absolutely horrible experience. Just taking up space and no assistance, these test could have been accomplished outpatient. No need for the overnight stay since they didn't do cardiac monitoring at all

I would give 0 stars if possible for the review. Don’t bring your child here. We were here for over 6 hours, never got to see a doctor, told to go home follow up with a specialists. However since it was Friday we had to wait until Monday. Well before Monday we were back at another hospital who actually cared and started a process for treatment. Please do yourself and your family a favor and go to a different hospital.

I had an appointment at 2. I got there at 1:30. Tammy came to get me at 2 and I still was not checked in. I waited another 20 minutes. The woman checking people in took forever. Tammy had someone else check me in. There were several people that were a half hour late for their appointments. It's sad that people show up early and are still late for their appointments. There has to be a quicker way to be checked in. That woman was so slow. I get you may be short staffed but waiting almost an hour on EXPRESS CHECK IN. I will think twice before I come back to your hospital for treatment. Lori Fisher

The scheduled appointment (for hyperbaric evaluation) was for services they could not provide. The doctor was retiring and there was no one to administer the treatments. I had to schedule a whole new evaluation at a different medical center and it took WEEKS extra to get NEEDED treatments. This was so bad for my health. They simply could have told me the truth about the absence of a doctor.

Everyone treated me kindly and explained everything that was going to go on prior and during my procedure. I have to let people know how wonderful Regional Hospital of Scranton was on 8/24 of this year. My husband had to go to the ER as he was having heart problems. I cannot believe how super fast they admitted him. I had dropped him off, went to park, by the time I came back, which was only a few minutes, he was already in the ER unit and being hooked up! The ER staff was friendly and kind, but also very professional. Special shout outs to Mary, Dave, Dr. Lim, Christine and Stacy. After his blood work came back it was advised that he have further testing in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Again, how phenomenal everyone was. Again, I need to give special recognition to Dr. Sethi (excellent Dr), Tom, Mark and Krysten. After my husband's testing Dr Sethi and Tom came in and explained (in a way we could understand) while also showing us the results on the monitor. They definitely helped ease our anxiety. It was determined that he should stay overnight for observation. Again, The Staff on the Telemetry floor was Excellent! The Nursing Manager Gina C really knows her stuff! She went above and beyond in making sure my husband was comfortable. She even had the kitchen bring me a meal along with my husbands because she knew neither of us had eaten all day. The nurses who tended to him through the day and night, Gina (another Gina) and Georgette were so kind and considerate. Even the person who brought him his meal, Angela, was such a sweet, kind person. I know this is a long review but this was the first time that I really had any experience with this hospital and it was outstanding in the care my husband received. These people work hard, they really show they care about the patients and their families. Will never hesitate to recommend this hospital! Thank you, Regional Hospital of Scranton, for taking such great care of us!!
