Fine dining and Santa Cruz don't usual go hand in hand, but Persephone might just change that. Saying the food was amazing is an understatement. Loved the food, loved the service, looking forward to going back.

We went for the first time ever yesterday and LOVED it! I couldn’t take a picture of everything we ordered because I was too excited to eat but here’s the breakdown: Overall Experience -Staff are sweet and friendly -Plenty of parking around the restaurant -We sat outdoors and had a beautiful view of the woods below but there’s also indoor seating What we ordered (the menu changes!) -Budino with Roasted Grapes: excellent -Caesar Salad: great dressing -House Made Sourdough Focaccia: standard delicious focaccia but the hummus stole the show -Boneless Beef Shortrib: pictured below and it was amazing. I loved every bite and even the broccolini was addicting -Fogline Farm Stuffed Chicken with Spaetzle: my partner ordered this meal and I only got ONE, albeit delicious, bite since he ate it so fast and didn’t share -Brownie ala Mode: I don’t even like chocolate but loved this -Seasonal Sorbet Trio: Incredible. The kiwi flavor was outstanding as it had the perfect balance between the sweetness, and tangy tartness of an actual kiwi We’ll be back, see you then!

Quaint spot perched overlooking the trees out back (never mind the road in front). Food was very good, and the staff is terrific.

Each plate was made at the restaurant by the chef-owners, absolutely fresh and a taste explosion. The “Beet Cured Gravlax Fresh wild King salmon filet, beet cured, thinly sliced and served with favetta, soft boiled quail egg, scallions, big sur sea salt, and Wild Poppies olive oil. (Salmon served raw)” was amazing and I took on to go after lunch. The outside seating is lovely, great ventilation and so much greenery and flowers. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and appreciated the wonderful service by Tony! Thank you!

I have been here several times and never a single time I was let down. I usually order the 3 course menu ($60) including appetizer, pasta, and an entree. Yes the portion is smaller than a la carte, but neither my partner nor I felt we needed to order more. The Chef is also good at making soup. It’s so good I was seriously considering order a regular bowl. Wine by glass is quite pricey, usually between $12-15/glass. We decided to go with a bottle that fits within the budget we are more comfortable with. It’s a family owned restaurant so maybe that’s why it feels even more homier. The paintings on the walls were painted by the mother of the chef. It does get busy on the weekends. It’ll make the whole dining experience even better if they can reduce the number of tables in the restaurant. Our table was really close to other tables it reminded me of my dining experience in Paris.

This is the biggest disappointment that I have had in the last two years. This can not be a 4.6 restaurant. Beef was overcooked and dry. Flavorless. The ravioli was ok. The only thing good was the potatoes. Please do not come to this place. Service is good though. It’s way to expensive for what you are going to receive.

This restaurant also changed hands fairly recently. Persephone used to be a wonderful place to go with high quality food. The last time we went, it was a SO SO experience. The service was good, but the food was not that great and not up to the menu and cooking standards it had before.

First time dining, we did a girls night on neighborhood night, which includes a salad, pasta dish and a dessert for $40...however their salad was underwhelming, it was mixed greens tossed in dressing, in my opinion you would need a few more ingredients to call it a salad. Our group had all pasta dishes listed on the menu, and all of them were great, same goes for the dessert, great sorbet flavors! We also ordered a Burrata appetizer to share (had to order 2, portions are small) and a bottle of wine, they do not have cocktails but they have an extensive wine list. Service was excellent, they were very attentive. I would recommended better seating, their chairs were uncomfortable for fine dining. Other than that I would recommended for a girls night, date night, very cozy place. I normally take pictures of my dishes but was so excited to dig in I forgot.

Excellent restaurant. Great food, atmosphere, and staff. All staff were very attentive but not intrusive.

😐 Location and proximity to the beach is what keeps this place going. Nice guy working the register, ladies slinging grease in the back, all the standards on offer. "It is what it is" (hate that tired stupid expression but it sums this place up perfectly). If you are hungry, don't want to drive and fi...
