The workout is ok and there are some good instructors who are good at motivating with the right music. However, I booked one class using Gympass (similar to Classpass) and checked in on the app. I also saw my spot assigned and class synced on the Barry’s app so went ahead to take the class in my assigned spot. I was pulled out of class 3 min in and was told that I didn’t “check in” at the front desk and the spot is assigned to someone else. The front desk person told me that I would get one class reimbursed, which never happened. So similar like the other posts mentioned, it’s an intense workout in a sweaty and crowded environment with not enough light. There’s a chance of getting hurt as the instructor doesn’t have enough attention span to correct your movement and the movement changes every 30 sec so I’m not sure how effective it can be. Thanks to the class incident, I decided to stop going to Barry’s after more than 15 classes. They’re good at using marketing skills, Instagram famous instructors and the club music vibe to make you believe that the workout is worth $30+ per 50 min. But after all you might just burn more calories and fresher air running around lake union two blocks away for 50 min instead, and totally free with no chance of someone stopping your workout 3 min in :)

Great way to start the day! Love how quickly this goes by. The instructor was okay. I did not like the way she exclaimed over the speaker, "Your other left, closer to me." I felt humiliated in my first class. I could not hear you say "right side" because of how loud the music was. I recommend using earplugs if you come in often. Otherwise your ears must adjust over what I consider to be appropriate for a concert. On the flip, it's great for pumping up your energy. Soon after you stretch, the cleaners waste no time to come right in while you're wrapping up to stretch. I felt like there was no room to stretch and breathe. At least they do a thorough job cleaning the room full of sweat after class. Not the friendliest people on the planet, except this one girl who explained how things worked at the gym for first timers.

First, there is a lot of boutique fitness out there, I frequent at Soul Cycle which I love - HOWEVER. Your body gets plateaus with cycling, I now do it for social aspects/good for mental clarity. Which is just as important! Barry's, however - WILL transform your body if you keep it up a few times a week - will never plateau. I find that it's one of the only group work outs that is actually worth your $$. You also actually learn a lot about working out that you can use at home gyms etc.

Good workout. I was unhappy to find us sharing equipment during the class (particularly during covid) If you have tread and weights at home, you can likely get the same without the social element. The instructor is very busy directing folks on the floor and tread simultaneously so there is little coaching.

I’ve done Barry’s in so many different cities and although I live about a 25 minute drive from this location, I was happy to make the journey because I love both the workout and the culture of Barry’s. Unfortunately this location doesn’t deliver on either front. The staff at the desk were rude, unkind and dismissive when we arrived last weekend. It was embarrassing because a friend of ours was trying Barry’s out for the first time after we raved about what a special and uniquely positive workout experience we have consistently had at all the other Barry’s locations we’ve been to. This was not the case here and I doubt our friend will be back. I also don’t find their weights to be very inclusive- every other location I’ve been to has 4lb weights which I need due to a medical condition, but not this location, so I have to bring my own. I’ll use the rest of the pack I bought but then will have to find a different workout facility or hope that a second location opens up in the area with a better, kinder more inclusive staff.

I’m really disappointed with this location as I was a regular at Barry’s denver before recently moving to Seattle. The cleanliness at this location is poor and there have been no cleaning wipes at all in the red room on more than one occasion in the handful of times I’ve been. This was never an issue in denver. I am disgusted by the fact I’m expected to lay in someone else’s sweat on the bench. I (politely) mentioned it to the staff and that I can’t focus on anything else when this happens and it seems to be common at this location. They were pretty dismissive and said “yeah we go through a lot of wipes in the room.”

I am from London and have been going to Barry's there for ages. I am in Seattle for work for a week so decided to come here for my workout and when I walked in, completely jet lagged, I found the best welcome and felt at home. Barry's has the best workout and the best people❤️ #fitfam

Think Soul Cycle, but with a treadmill and workout bench. $33.03 for 55 minutes of instructor lead classes in a dark room with loud music and a scented towel as you walk out. My instructor wasn’t very good at communicating the floor exercises and had most of the class looking around in confusion throughout the session. The facility is beautiful and the staff is super nice/enthusiastic to be there but I can not justify the price for the level of instruction received.

I called Barrys to ask if my spot could be switched so I was next to my friend who was trying it for the first time. The woman on the phone was incredibly rude and told me that it was not possible since I booked it with class pass (even tho there were plenty of spots). She then hung up on me without asking for my name or what we could have done to resolve it. I was in shock and my friend who’s coming with me, had his jaw drop… I have been going to various Barry’s locations for a while now and I recommend it to my friend (who lives in seattle). Now we’re both taken aback by the whole experience and haven’t even stepped foot into the Barry’s yet. I find it crazy that one person could ruin my years of positive experiences with Barry’s… and make my friends first experience so miserable…

I really enjoy Barry’s workouts! They are always fun and upbeat. I think Ives is the best instructor! The smoothies are really good also! I will say, they’re quite sticklers if you don’t cancel. I was sick and couldn’t come with Covid and then they did not refund me because I couldn’t call before hand. That was pretty frustrating…I had Covid.

I joined Barry's on a whim and I am so thankful I did! I was really nervous because I am definitely on the beginner level. I worried I wouldn't be able to keep up with the workout. The few areas I struggled with I was able to easily modify the paces/moves, and I still walked out with a killer workout. I felt nervous walking in - but every person I spoke to was so welcoming. The Red Room is intense! It's upbeat and you are constantly moving. I've done similar bootcamp style classes where you rotate between the floor, treads, and rowers - and I was happy that Barry's eliminates a lot of the down time (no rowers at Barrys and the floor workout is more consistently paced). I walked out of a 50 minute class feeling like I got a 50 minute work out, not a 30 minute work out. The facility is even better! The equipment is great, and the fuel bar has a ton of options. I live next door, but the place makes me want to pack up my stuff just to use the showers and the locker room.

Barry’s is a world class workout - for a city that was long overdue for it. I firmly believe this gym is a catalyst for positive growth and change in our community.

I really like Barry’s for a quick and hard high intensity work out. I use class pass to attend these classes. The facility is clean, staff, friendly, and classes, effective. The music and lights really make the class good and the trainers always push and encourage the class . I always get a great work out in at Barry’s. They also offer smoothies after work outs.

I am big fan of Barry’s. It makes workouts enjoyable. Not all the instructors are great but when you find the great instructor with right playlist- it’s so much fun!

Stopped in for a smoothie yesterday and was extremely happy with the Barry’s brunch concoction they had. Quick, friendly service and the GM is offensively attractive.

It was my first time taking the class and Sarah was so amazing!! I was hesitant to try the class at first as I am more into personal training rather than group classes but wanted to get out of my comfort zone and it was so worth it!! The people in the class were super friendly and again, Sarah was so informative and allowed me to go at my own pace which I appreciated so much! I gave 4 stars though because of two staff that were at the front desk on the Sunday morning. They weren’t very friendly and were not very informative. They could have told me where the lockers were and informed me of membership details (totally would have signed up as I’m using class pass at the moment) but did not do so. It’s a Sunday morning early class so I understand it’s early but was a bit disappointed as I expected stellar customer service and a strong brand ethos. Either way, will be coming back for a class. Thanks Barry’s!

Never been to a Barry’s before, but I’ll be back. This is in regards to the Fuel Bar / Smoothie bar for now. Ingredients were great quality and was amazing! Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Good to know we have a healthy smoothie spot in town that in tailored for people who work out!

Barry’s boot camp is my favorite work out in Seattle! I’ve been to every work out class in the SLU area and it’s easily my favorite because of how much it makes you sweat. I love the combination of cardio and strength training and there’s a reason why classes are typically full. The community at Barry’s is heartwarming and you’ll always feel like you can keep pushing yourself to get stronger or run faster. I love the instructors and I can always feel the energy in the red room! It’s definitely tough if it’s your first time here, but it gets easier once you’ve been to more than a few classes. It’s expensive to go but I think there’s a reason for that! I’ve saved some money by buying a package which feels really worth it.

Fantastic first and second experiences! Oscar at the front desk was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Sara and Gina both led amazing workouts - phenomenal instructors. You are guaranteed to break a sweat. High energy throughout my visit, will 100% be back!
