Management here is abysmal. Oh it's the weekend afternoon when a lot of people do their shopping? Awesome, let's make sure to never have enough cashiers and give our customers a horrible checkout experience as lines backup well into the aisles. Oh you want to get in and out quickly? Too bad! Our lack of adequate staffing will force you to wait in line to check out for longer than it took you to shop! Enjoy!

On top of all but DOUBLING prices in the last couple of years so they can extra-gouge customers, they have persistently kept pay low and REFUSE to hire sufficient workers to service the store. Lines are a constant issue and they never open more than three registers. To add insult to injury, they are now attempting to enforce receipt checks at the door. Not only is this COMPLETELY not supported by the law (meaning that yes, you can absolutely walk straight out the door and they can't touch you, receipt check or not), they're blaming thefts for this disgusting policy change. HIRE. MORE. WORKERS. Staff the actual store. STOP GOUGING CUSTOMERS. I won't be returning to this store and I'll be avoiding all Fred Meyer stores in the future. This level of greed is absurd and destructive, and there are a hundred other places I can get what I need without being treated like a criminal on my way out. Oh, and if your grocery store has a problem with people stealing food, your grocery store IS PART OF THE PROBLEM.

How long do you think the customer should wait to get access to the product? 1,2,5 minutes!? I had to wait 25 minutes for someone to open the window for me. I approached various employees three times. But no one could help. The answer was "This is not my department", "sorry, I do not know". Terrible service!!! I can't imagine how much time Instacart can waste in your store, I just feel sorry for them. The inscription on the window says "Press the button!")) a non-existent button))

Awful customer service in self checkout. Just purchased groceries and the bag ripped while I was walking out. Asked the woman who was the line attendant if they had any extra carts around because my bag just ripped. She literally just laughed and walked away and stood watching me while I struggled to carry my purchase out. Really going to avoid shopping here unless I have to

I don't give one star reviews lightly, but this store has real problems. Maybe it's the continually "out of order" elevators and escalators (literally for YEARS, all working at the same time very rarely) so navigating between floors is difficult or impossible. Or the fact that today employees were packing up Christmas related items (c'mon tomorrow is the busiest shopping day of the year and you have NO WRAPPING PAPER?). Or the passive aggressive checkout people who decline sales because the items don't have a tag and won't call a manager to price check because they are on a break, or if they are asked to double bag because previously mentioned elevator is out of order (again! WAS WORKING 15 MINUTES AGO). There is no way I can get items to my car in the lower level garage without going outside in 23 degree weather with icy, slippery, sloped pavements or carrying them down a flight of stairs. I want double bags because I choose the stairs over a broken hip or leg. Don't give me "that look." This store is a constant disappointment, it used to be really nice.

My partner and I were greeted at the store by a silent security guard eyeing us up and down, equipped with a firearm. I will not shop at Fred Meyers again until this foolishness is resolved. They had decided as a company that they are willing to use lethal force as a security measure. Shameful and pathetic. I have been shopping at Fred Meyer for 30+ years, and they just lost me.

So if you're not already super familiar with this location I would advise staying clear of this mess! Aisles are super unorganized with some running diagonally with no way to get out of the other side. Then comes finding what you're looking for. We started to approach an employee but then realized he was complaining to another employee that he was quitting on Friday and would be in a bad mood so we left him alone. Found another employee to help locate bread and toilet paper. Bread wasn't in the typical same type foods nor was toilet paper in the personal care/toiletries area. We were directed to one aisle (pic 1) labeled condiments and pickles but it was just paper towels. We found toilet paper eventually, see pic 2, it was in the aisle labeled dog treats. Obviously makes the most amount of sense. Then for the bread we were directed to aisle 1. See pic 3 for why that was confusing. Then to top it off out of 10 lines 1 was open. With one person in front of us it was 15 minutes as the cashier just stood there making casual conversation with the couple in front of us. Is what it is I suppose but would definitely recommend going elsewhere if you're thinking about going here.

Zero stars. The customer service here is insane. Specifically a worker named Renee. I don’t think she usually works with customers and it’s no wonder why. The company tries to hide her awful disgusting body but I had the unfortunate event of asking her for assistance. She refused to help me find an item I was looking for and then continued to treat me hostile and belittle me. I hope my call to corporate about this specific person gets her fired because she is the worst customer service worker I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if her dog died but it should never be okay to treat a paying customer this way. I will never go here again and I hope she learns her lesson. And management clearly does nothing about her because she didn’t even seem to think twice about her disgusting comments to me. Will be filing a complaint to corporate. DO NOT GO HERE

Unfortunately, this Fred Meyer is now very unsafe: there is very aggressive pan handling in the parking lot, people yelling at you in the store, the street outside is chaotic. Even though the Fred Meyer in Ballard is in a pretty industrial section with lots of RV camping around it, it might now be safer than the Greenwood one. This is even ignoring the run down state of the store, which I don't really mind much. As long as you don't bother shopping downstairs, the unreliability of escalators and elevators doesn't really matter much (and the downstairs is empty whenever I venture down there).

The new rule to check the ID of everyone buying alcohol is mindless. If somebody is obviously closer to 90 than 21, perhaps some commonsense should prevail. I feel sorry for the employees that are being forced to enforce this new policy. Also, please get some more shopping carts. Just about every time I shop here, there are no carts available at the entrance. You have to turn around and go searching in the parking lot. This is especially difficult for the elderly.

They gave me a ticket for going across the street for something before going in the store. I was gone for 5 minutes, half the lot was empty, and I was not in a prime spot. Whatever, it's the policy and isn't that bad, but it just seems greedy to enforce it like this. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth and I don't want to worry about this kind of hassle when I'm running errands, so I'm changing my routine to go somewhere that feels like less of a shakedown. Also their fried chicken was a huge bummer whenever I tried it compared to other grocery store fried chicken (btw don't sleep on grocery store fried chicken, sometimes it's really good) Anyways, maybe they could tweak the policy so people who walk away from their car for less than X minutes before returning won't be ticketed unless the lot is Y% full. 1 star is harsh, but it's been one of the less pleasant experiences I've had as a customer and I can't really think of any aspects that redeem this place enough for me to recommend this location to anyone at this point, so I'm sticking with it.

Fred Meyer is the best grocery store in Seattle, and it also has the best electronics department anywhere. I live far from the Greenwood store, in South Lake Union. But I will gladly take the trip to Freddy's because I always know I will find what I'm looking for and the prices are very reasonable. The people at checkout were very friendly and helpful. I am so glad that I took that long bus trip to Greenwood last Wednesday, and will definitely go there again!

If you've ever been to a Fred Meyer, this is about par for the course. The supermarket is most of the top level and housewares are below. The supermarket generally has everything we need. There's a pretty good selection of basic housewares and a bit of hardware, electronics, and sporting goods. The downstairs has a few employees, mostly at the checkout and electronics, but if you need help toward the back, you're on your own. The staff are generally pretty friendly and helpful. This store has saved me many a trip to the outer suburbs when I need something basic, but the non-supermarket selection feels narrower than a Target or Walmart. My only major complaint is the escalator, which has been broken for years. You can take the escalator down, but the up direction and the cart mover seem to be permanently out of order. There is an elevator that will hold 2-3 shopping carts and people. There is a pharmacy, too. I had an experience with being crammed into a tiny space to get a vaccine and there was some anti-masker (during Covid) rambling about government conspiracies and coughing violently. Hard to blame the store for the behavior of the customers, but ugh. It looks like they remodeled the pharmacy, so maybe it's better, but I go elsewhere now, so I can't say. Parking is plentiful and there is some covered parking with an entrance to the lower level.

Huge Fred Meyer—takes up two levels and is really roomy, which was nice when the pandemic was in full swing. Is in a good location that’s easy to get to, and has lots of parking space. Fred Meyer almost always has what I’m looking for, except sometimes if I come by on Sunday night and they’re out of stuff. But that’s on me. Unfortunately sometimes the service at this location isn’t good. Some cashiers are friendly, but some don’t speak at all and look like they’d rather be watching paint dry. I recently came in just before closing and the clerk “asked” me to bag my own groceries—not because I had my own bags, but because he said the line was too long and they were about to close. Maybe this is partly because of the paper-bag-only rules in Seattle, or because of COVID, but it doesn’t seem like they should be asking people to do that. Instead of trying to shop everyone out the door by 10:00, maybe stay open another hour so more people have a chance to come in. But I’m sure Kroger doesn’t want to pay for that….

For normal grocery store items, they are fine. They used to be a awesome one-stop place that had a lot of things. Downstairs was were the apparel was. They moved it upstairs to a spot in the back which is much more inconvenient. I came just to get a couple of pairs of shorts, and all they had were khaki shorts that were way to big for me. Also, the men's section is tiny, the children's is ok, but the women's section is HUGE. Just because I'm male doesn't mean that all I want to buy is khaki shorts, and why are they selling all of this colorful stuff in the other sections while the most color in the men's is solid color polo shirts. I just don't get it, things used to be way better here, but I've just about had it with Fred Meyer.

If I could rate 4.5 stars I would. I was so happy to round the corner of Aisle 21 and see a good-sized Bulk foods section, and an entire section labeled Bob's Red Mill. Exactly what I was looking for! Good Murray's cheese section, and fairly competitive wine section. Still irritated that they charge for Cash Back at the register. OK, it's 4 stars😜

First time at one of these grocery stores and went to get a card to get the discount but they were all out and wouldn’t apply the discount. So we ended up spending over $10 more on just a handful of items then we thought. I’ve never liked Safeway but at least Safeway would let you just sign up online and apply the discount there. Definitely made for an AWFUL experience! Do better Fred Meyer, maybe be more like Safeway.

This is an interesting Fred Meyer because it’s actually two stories and the non-basically most of the non-food stuff is downstairs so very different than most Fred Meyer’s. It’s usually very crowded as well.

First time going to this Fred Meyer. Had the worst most invasive experience here. I work a Mobil job, my brother and I both went in to use their bathrooms. I had some stomach problems and was taking care of what I need to. While I was using the bathroom, I guess there was someone in there smoking dope. They kicked those people out. And then they thought that I was smoking dope and came to my stall a few time knocking on the door telling me I can’t be in there doing what I’m doing and peeking through my stall while my private parts are visible and while I continuously told them that I was going #2. I tried speaking to multiple employees about it and the manager if I could speak to the employee who invaded my privacy. And I got no direct answer on who it was. I ended up calling customer service and they said that “they aren’t going to go and hunt down the employee and that I felt as if my privacy was that invaded call 911” so now I am filling a police report because my privacy was completely violated when that employee chose to look through the crack in the stall while my private part was visible. I am a woman and I got told it was a male employee. Who would want that to happen to them honestly. I’m not trying to be a Karen but I am also not going to do anything when I have a male looking through my stall because they think I am doing something that I would never do. I’m not even from Seattle was just stopping there to use the restroom. Not to have my privacy violated.

I just want to thank the pharmacists and the customer service representatives of how much I really appreciate your hard work. This pharmacy does a great job of verifying and getting patient prescriptions filled as quickly as possible. Sometimes there are long lines, but this is not their fault at all. They really do care about their customers. If you need a really good pharmacy to have your prescriptions filled and this Fred Meyers is near you, I personally would pick them!

This time the self checkout annoyingly did not scan multiple items because a reusable bag was placed in the bagging area. The whole order had to be rescanned. This situation is a Norman door. Although previous experiences here were great.

The liquor/beer/wine section has a poor layout. When ever i have shopped there, people are checking out their entire order at the one liquor section cashier just because they bought one bottle of wine. That cashier should only do booze purchases to keep things moving. Also outside of the liquor section the store seems like a zoo most of the time.

  • 1/5 Steven L. 1 year ago on Google
Do not use this pharmacy!!! They will drop your insurance without warning and not tell you until you come to pick up a prescription refill. They will force you to pay out of pocket and then they will make it difficult to transfer pharmacists. Please save yourself the trauma and do not send you prescriptions here!!! The store itself is fine.

Java Topia coffee is my preferred and I usually get decaf instead French roast for myself, and a dark roast caffeinated for my wife. However, the decaffeinated French roast bin is empty more than half the time. Please stock this in sufficient quantities.

Friendly service, clean as always. The 2nd floor hardware area needs to be more help we looked for 10 or 15 minutes trying to get help, but overall great store.

Convenient location but they are so often out of exactly the thing I need with incredible regularity and precision. Go in with backup dinner plans. They usually (usually!) have the basics, but that is an incredibly low bar to pass for a grocery so gigantic.

This place was weird at first; it's got multiple floors and a COMPLETELY different layout from every other Fred Meyer I've been too. But once you get used to it, it's just as good as any Fred Meyer, although I think that this one is focused more on food and groceries than EVERYTHING like most Fred Meyers. I just rarely go this far south to shop (I live in Mountlake Terrace).

I asked for a plain latte, but instead I got a green tea latte... I think it is because the lady wrote GR on the cup which she thought means Grande, when it means something else, apparently GR means green tea lol

Not quite as organized as other Freddy's, but plenty of items including a good outdoor and kitchen section downstairs. The outdoor garden seems smaller than the nearby Freddy's on 45th, but it's nice to have the two stores fairly close to each other - in case one is out of items etc.
