Beautiful, serene, informative. My mother, an artist, had been wanting to go here for 15 years. The look on her face said it all. She was inspired. I couldn’t help but feel inspired, myself. Weir Farm is secluded. You have to drive through rolling hills and wilderness to get there, but it’s worth it. My parents, my sister, and I went here in June and it was perfect. Everything was green. You can see why artists would gather here to create amazing works. The volunteers love what they do, you can tell. Take a tour through the studios and farmhouse. Everything is well crafted and faithfully preserved from Weir’s time here. I loved that they give you the ability to create a watercolor piece of your own - for free. It’s peaceful to sit on the grass and paint. Highly recommend going here.

Great historic park with hiking trails but it would be nice if we could see most of the rooms in the house than just the one shown

This is an unusual national park, as is showcases the life of an American painter. I recommend bringing a comfortable chair, your artist's materials, and a friend or two similarly equipped. Or your kids. I'll bet you've never done art as a family before! They do everything they can to encourage the public to come paint and draw. They've preserved many beautiful vistas, and they even have paints and materials to loan. They also have materials for kids, and workshops for adults, kids and families. It's also a really nice place to just go for a walk, and walk the dog and kids. It's all rolling Connecticut farmland, so it's not especially hard, and it is beautiful.

This is the most interesting National Historic Site that I have visited and I would recommend that you go on an adventure to visit this wonderful place. They have an extensive Jr. Ranger program that child enjoy and for adults there are many interesting exhibits, great tour of the Weir House, and hiking trails. If you have a camera or are an artist plan on spending a lot of time capturing the beauty of this site.

This is a very quiet National Park. It’s rather deep into the Connecticut countryside (I think) and that helps showcase where Weir wanted to be when he was painting. The grounds are very nice, but make sure to watch out for mud when it’s damp out! Also there are bears 🐻

Beautiful place to visit, hike, tour the homestead and art studios… they even provide supplies to utilize while there to create your own work of art!

We had attempted to visit over Christmas break, and the houses were closed. We were successful this week. The Visitor center was open, as well as the house and studio for pop-up tours. We didn't take the trail to the lake, but walked around the grounds. There is a lot of history and things for those interested in art and history.

There is a meadow which is pleasant to walk in. I like the bear wood cut outs. But as you walk into the woods the trails contain a lot of roots and rocks. It is mostly flat, so right after a good rain expect a little mud. Lots of mtn Laurel but not yet in bloom. Maybe in late may

This is my new favorite park to visit. Beautiful grounds and a lot to do. You can take the paint supplies provided in park (no charge) and paint outside. We really enjoyed our time there.

This is a beautiful National Historic Site with preserved Weir house, barn and art studios. When we visited the grounds we saw an artist painting and people enjoying the open fields and gardens. There is an Artists in Residence program that gives artists a month to live and work on their art while there.

I'm not much into art but it is Connecticut's only National Park so we stopped. THERE IS NO BIG RIG PARKING SO DON'T TRY! There is a school off of Danbury Rd and 7 you can park your 5th wheel in and go back up the hills. Very narrow roads and no parking on streets.

My disabled (needs a scooter) friend and I spent a few hours at the park, mostly at the house and the visitor center. We received an excellent guided tour of the house. At the visitor center we enjoyed borrowing art supplies and taking our own turn drawing the beautiful surroundings on a clear fall day. All of the staff were friendly and went out of their way to help us and whoever they saw who needed it (e.g., a driver who was being honked at by another driver).

I love National Historic Sites...they are all unique in their own ways. This is a tribute to an artist that specialized in Impressionism, and the Site reflects that.

I liked the grounds, lake and buildings around the Park. During the pandemic most seems to be outside. I can not wait to spend more time hiking around the property. We hiked around the Park a little.

A gorgeous spot for a short walk. December it’s very quiet and peaceful. The path around the pond is really lovely. Excited to go back in the summer time!

It's a pretty area and some interesting history, especially if you are into art. It was quite calm and peaceful when I went, but the visitor center was closed at the time and there were few people around. You could spend an hour or two here. The pond was not too impressive, but again the history and old structures are interesting.

I would give it 6 stars if I could...and I would spend an entire day here... beautiful and peaceful with inspiration all around. The house tour was awesome. Property well maintained. We could tour the studios and made full use of the painting kits they provided! SO FUN!!! Give yourself a lot of time here if you love art and nature!!!

If you're interested in painting landscapes, then this is absolutely the place to be for you. I have been here on weekends where talented artists make themselves available for advice while painting landscapes. At that time they provided watercolor supplies and paper for public use. What an incredible place.

👍👍 The trail splits almost immediately. I prefer the walk along the creek to the left. There's a steep-ish hill going down so be careful when the ground is wet. Those leaves get slippery. The right-side trail brings you more into a sandy pine forest. Parking is ample.
