This church can be regarded as the Capital of The Archdiocese of Semarang. The cathedral is look stunning and beautiful. This church is also one of the church that maintain much of the Liturgy regulation. You can find an Eminent organ in this place, quite rare to be used in Indonesia. Have a mass here is cozy because there are Air Conditioners inside this place. Beside this church you can see and pray at a small park with quite huge Holy Cross and Pieta Sculpture. Behind the seats, you can find also place to pray to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to Mother Mary. This cathedral is easily accessible since located adjacent to several well-known place at the heart of Semarang, such as Tugu Muda, Simpang Lima, Jalan Pandanaran, etc. Many public transportation go in front of the complex, such as Trans Semarang and angkot. I am surprised that in the complex of the cathedral, I can also find several ATM.

Staff, very welcoming and so many worshippers singing in the service, so heartwarming. As a solo traveller from the UK, I was so happy to be here amongst the lovely people of Java and it reminded me of home. Thank you. Church itself is beautiful and spacious. The Service on Saturday was very popular which added to the wonderful atmosphere.

A beautiful and stunning church near Lawang Sewu. Had an afternoon mass at 16.30 WIB on Sunday and the health protocols are applied nicely. The Mass is in Indonesian language. The seat place made of wood and quite spacious. It’s cozy inside as there are AC inside. Near the entrance door, we can find and pray to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to Mother Mary. They have big parking spot, or we can park at the school field which is adjacent with the church.

Beautiful Maria Statue in one corner inside the church with an medieval wooden door next the statue surrounded by black stone walls. It's a small stone stairs that lead to the balcony.

Established on January 1927, this place of worship is located in the heart of Semarang. Originally used as a building of health, the church was blessed after completely renovated on October 1927. About 10 years later, the church became Cathedral because there was a special place for the bishop (Albertus Soegijapranata who was appointed as the first Apostolic Vicar in Semarang). . Just like the atmosphere of the Cathedral Church in Jakarta, the Semarang Cathedral Church is also Dutch-style architecture, dim and solemn.
