This is our second visit! Unfortunately the ticketing system has changed.we paid 40.000 for two, to find out that’s just an entry to the front only not close up to the actual temple. We still have to pay again to enter the temple. This is not fair seem no one say about anything at the entrance. If they explain up front, we would have choices and we are ok to pay at full price for whole visit. Being honest upfront is best policy, especially when it come to visit a tourism spot

(Translated by Google) One of the most popular historical tourist attractions in the city of Semarang. It is known as a legacy from the admiral Cheng Ho who spread Islam in Java. The place is very good, easily accessible from various directions using private vehicles or public transportation. Large parking area with complete facilities such as a prayer room, bathroom, souvenir and snack center.

(Translated by Google) A new experience for me coming here (19 December 2020), the officers (from guarding the parking counter to entering the Sam Poo Kong area) were friendly when I was a layman and foreigner asking opening hours, where atm, where the building was located etc. They are more than happy to help me with a sincere posture. You can choose tickets, if you want to enter the outside area only. or want to use the overalls, you can enter the prayer temple area. Do you want to use a guide or you can't choose. Here we can see works of art as well as historical relics, and of course none other than for the purposes of prayer for those who adhere to them. For those who only travel and do not pray, they are not allowed to enter the pagoda: D Everything is satisfying There was only one thing I was annoyed at that time, ask all visitors to always keep clean because at that time they still found trash used for drinks and food that was thrown away carelessly. You may be thinking (ah, only 1, the cleaning service will also be picked up), please stop thinking like that. If 500 visitors a day think that all, try to imagine what it will be. You should be ashamed of throwing garbage, because besides being a tourist place it is also a place of worship.

Pro : well maintained, clean, historical kelenteng Cons : parking fee Tips : there are 2 types of ticket : IDR 20k and IDR 40k. At 40k ticket, you could see entire of kelenteng included replica of Ceng Ho’s boot and tree of anchor, but in my opinion if you just want to take picture, just buy IDR 20k tickets. Always follow my reviews, it's trusted and objective

Sam Poo Kong in Semarang offers an enriching cultural experience and a glimpse into history. The complex houses a temple that pays homage to the Chinese Muslim explorer Zheng He. Exploring the site is like stepping into the past, with ancient artifacts and relics displayed in a museum. Sam Poo Kong Temple is also known as Gedung Batu Temple due to its unique architectural style that resembles a cave more than a traditional temple. The temple itself is charming and architecturally distinct, with its cave-like design, intricate woodwork, and stone carvings. The large statue of Admiral Zheng He adds to the historical atmosphere. The temple also has a small zoo and beautiful gardens to explore. Visiting Sam Poo Kong Temple comes with an entrance fee, which is currently priced at 20,000 for adults and 15,000 for children. While these fees provide access to the temple grounds, it's important to note that there is additional costs if you plan to engage in religious activities such as praying in the temple, this additional cost is bit bothersome for us. While this fee may be unexpected, it's important to remember that these contributions often go towards the maintenance and preservation of the temple and its religious artifacts. It's a way to support the temple's continued existence and cultural significance. However, understanding the costs involved in advance can help you plan your visit more effectively and avoid any surprises. Useful Tips: 1. Wear modest clothing out of respect for the religious significance of the temple. 2. Exploring the temple grounds can be tiring, so bring comfortable walking shoes. 3. Visit in the early morning or late afternoon for milder weather, as Semarang can get very hot during the day. 4. Try the local snacks and refreshments available in the vicinity. 5. Engage with the friendly staff and locals who often have interesting stories and insights to share about the temple. 6. Purchase small wood board to write your pray/hope and hang it at Wall of Hope that located near the entrance

Watched a concert yesterday The temple is really cool. Every corner seems perfect for taking photos. There are some areas specifically reserved for worship, so we can't just enter freely. Some locations can be viewed by removing your shoes. There's also a service for taking photos in Chinese royal costumes

(Translated by Google) Beautiful and historic building. The Sam Poo Kong Temple is a marker or trace of Cheng Ho's stopover in Semarang. This temple area used to be Cheng Ho's shelter when he had to be "forced" to anchor in 1416, because his ship's helmsman, Ong Keng Hong, was seriously ill. When he docked, Cheng Ho took care of Ong Keng Hong along with the other crew members. However, Cheng Ho was forced to leave Ong Keng Hong because he had to continue his journey. The place is spacious and instagramable. * Old photo, circa 2018 (Original) Bangunan indah dan bersejarah. Very interesting and cultural place. If you want to visit I suggest you bring sunglasses or an umbrella, as it can get really hot. There are some great spots for photos if you are a traveler. The entrance ticket is also very affordable, but if you want to pray, you have to buy a prayer ticket and you can walk around taking pictures. If you only buy a tourist ticket, you are not allowed to enter the prayer area. The best option is to buy a prayer ticket when you enter the Sam Poo Kong area. If you like architectural photography, this place is a must visit!

If you are a non Buddhist, things you can there are sight seeing, trying the food stalls around, and taking pictures at some spots. The place is clean, the parking lot is spacious. The location is easy to find, on the side of the main road. You need to buy another ticket to enter the "praying" area inside. At some times, they held some events on the main stage, such as drum band, karate dance, etc.

A famous temple in Semarang. The temple is spacious. Aside from the prayers section, people can go around the temple as well since there are lots of picturesque spots. Other than that, there are lots of food stalls and souvenir shops inside. I went there at ~3PM and unfortunately, the food stalls are closed. If you want to pray there, many friendly staffs are ready to guide you, so you do not have to worry.

Visiting Semarang is not going to be completed if you haven’t visit this temple. Sam Po Kong temple is the oldest Chinese temple in Semarang. This temple is not solely for Buddhist or Tao, but rather functions as a place of worship for people of various ethnicities and religious groups. This temple is painted with a magnificent red color and crowned with a triple-layered pagoda-style roof, typical of East Asian culture. Really beautiful... It’s worth to make a visit at least once when you’re around.

(Translated by Google) The Sam Poo Kong Temple is a place of worship which is also a famous tourist destination in Semarang. You must come here if you are on vacation in Semarang. Open to the public every day. The price of admission is affordable. There are different tickets for domestic and foreign tourists. The difference is not much, still normal. If you come in the afternoon when it's hot, prepare a hat or umbrella plus glasses. Because if you don't, you will feel hot around. Try to explore every corner. Many interesting things to see. There are public toilets and a dining area. There are several food and beverage vendors. So you don't have to worry about hunger and thirst here. Great and beautiful temple. Karena kalau tidak akan merasa kepanasan berkeliling. Coba jelajahi setiap sudutnya. Great and beautiful temple.

(Translated by Google) Apart from functioning as a place of worship, it also has a role as a tourist destination in the city of Semarang. So you are advised to stay orderly and calm when visiting, to respect the worshiping ummah. Having a typical Chinese architecture provides a special attraction for visitors. For those of you who like taking selfies, this place provides suitable spots to add to your IG creations. The manager also provides old Chinese-style costumes. A temple dedicated to Semarang's Chinese heritage. Tells the story of the Chinese Muslim admiral Zheng He, who visited the city with his fleet on a diplomatic mission. Great site to learn about the history of the city in general and the Chinese Indonesian community. Ask the keepers for instructions to pray and get your fortune told/translated.

One of the temples you can visit in Semarang. Great place to pray (sembhayang) and one of tourist attraction in Semarang. Tickets needed to be bought before entry, range from 15 IDR to 50 IDR (local tourist ticket price is cheaper than foreigners). Local guide is available. Additional service of ‘readings’ consultation and advices are also available.

I had a wonderful experience for my first visit. But, I was a bit disappointed because the place more like commercial place thn religious place. The place was crowded with tents for selling different things. It's more like a market not place for praying. Anyway, it's worth it for visit and get different experience. The ticket from the main entrance is only for outside area, meaning different tickets you should purchase for entering the temple. They served Chinese traditional costume for rent as well. I would love to try for my next visit. I would recommend for this place if you visit Semarang. ❤️

Multiracial issue is not appeared here at all. You can learn about Cheng Ho and his journey to Indonesia. I love the way it stands on the main area of the temples. It has both Chinese and Javanese couture. People who come here are not supposed to pray only, but also do the bigger thinks. Sam Poo Kong is so beautiful yet full of awesome historical story. Come here if you want to go to Semarang.

(Translated by Google) One of the most extensive pagoda complexes in Indonesia. There is a field that allows many events to be held at the venue. In addition, the price is also quite cheap to enter, only 12 thousand (as of February 2021) while the special area for praying is 50 thousand. The temple complex is also clean and cool on the edges because of the many trees. What should be noted is that the existing parking fees still have to be added to parking controlled by local residents who ask for money as they want. It should be 1 of the existing parking fees.

Sam poo Kong temple is a great place, the architecture is magnificent and you could feel how calm and peace inside there but maybe because I was there at the evening and the temple is almost close so only few visitor there . . And if you Buddhist you also could pray here..

  • 5/5 Cindy C. 3 years ago on Google
It was calm and not too crowded when we visited Sam Poo Kong. Such a great place to learn about its culture and history! To add it in, you got to take beautiful pictures for memento. Ticket is 10k/each (public area), 20k more to go further to the worship area. (Active) Food court is available but some vendors are not open.

This is an amazing place where you can learn and worshipping at the same time. The best place to healing, and the guides were really friendly. No matter what religion you believe you can visiting this amazing place and got the new vibes. There are also some cafetaria and souvenir outlet. The ticket is IDR 30.000 and you can explore the whole pagoda for Indonesian adult and about IDR 50.000 for tourist adult. It was the best place to release stress after the hard-work and study.

Icon of Semarang city, full of cultural heritage buildings and monuments. The parking lot is quite spacy. The officers are friendly and welcome. We can sit on the gazebo and hearing bell ringing softly by the wind. So relaxing. It is quite hot due to limited big trees on the field though.

  • 4/5 Ai S. 2 years ago on Google
This temple tour is really nice. We can look at history from past events. Tickets to this trip are pretty cheap. Access to the temple area starts at 10,000 per person and to access the main temple temple starting at 20,000 per person. This place is also used for public events like music concerts. There is food court and merchandise store here also.

Nice sculpture, historical site for Indonesia good for store telling, and helpful staff to guide praying activities... however surrounded by too many crowd, selling too many things...

  • 5/5 Suliyanto W. 1 year ago on Google
This place is so crowd, and pretty hot as sahara in hot season. Worship place with historical legend of Sam Po Kong. Bring your drink make sure dehydrated always.

A historic place cum praying site for religious. The parking area is well maintained by locals as part of their income, which is good as it can help the others. The ticket price is reasonable. Part of the temples are for prayers so out-limit for tourist-only. So we can only look for out side. We hope we can visit the place in the future

  • 5/5 Chrisna A. 1 year ago on Google
One of iconic Historical place in Semarang. Still an active prayer place. My friend said it's prettier to come at night, cause they turn all the lights on

  • 4/5 Simply N. 1 year ago on Google
Religious combined with historical landmark Divided into 2 parts, the outer ones where we can see the temples from the outside (visitors can't go in anyway unless you are going yo pray), rent kids car or bike and buy some food. The inner ones, is where the temples located. Those who wish to pray can go into the temples Behind the main temple, there is a relief explaining Cheng He's journey from China to the east.

  • 3/5 Ann 1 year ago on Google
The entrance ticket prices are quite expensive (referring to the benefits you'll get upon purchase). The food and beverages at the food stalls are pricey (for that level of quality) as well. At least the place (except the food court area) was clean.

  • 5/5 Ria A. 1 year ago on Google
Good for Cultural touristm visit. There is 2 areas here, one area for tourist and the other for prayer. Tourist area is good enough for visit, we can also visit prayer area by paying extra tickets.

A recognizable historical temple, Sam Poo Kong is one of the must-see locations in Semarang. Zheng He, a Chinese Muslim explorer, established it at first. The buildings there are well-kept, and the area is large. For visiting and for praying, the area was divided into two sections. There aren't many places in the temple, though, that provide historical information, so I suggest reading it online before visiting. I was very taken with this temple. The only drawback is the ticketing system; we must pay to park and enter the main area, and then we must pay again to enter the temple area.

  • 5/5 Lidwina A. 1 year ago on Google
Undoubtedly beautiful in architecture. Feels like in China! Love every detail here. Been here several times since I was a kid, this place still takes my breath away! The lantern, however, is more festive during Chinese new year.

  • 5/5 Fraire A. 8 months ago on Google
The place is great! The entrance fee was 25000 per person. When you wanna explore the temple inside, you have to pay 20,000 more. There’s a different rate for foreigners. It’s a good thing I look Indonesian and can speak very little Bahasa. I paid the local price. 😁

Things that you can put in to your bucket list when you’re in Atlas City, one of the top notch destination located in the heart of the city, pretty easy & affordable to get in. It also has a giant parking space so you don’t need to worry to park your vhcl.

This is more of a tourist attraction than a temple. 1. There are TWO entry fees 2. Merchants everywhere on temple grounds 3. Name of a local bank (BNI) plastered everywhere 4. The area is being used to hold concert every now and then I have never seen a religious building so commercialized. This place is a disgrace.
