I found Dialamkoto’s description and review in booking.com interesting and decided to spend more time in Casamance in this eco lodge. Upon arrival I found a hidden gem situated right in the middle of a pristine landscape between Kafountine and Abene. Dialamkoto is a large compound enclosing a vast field of plants and trees, a big simple house of the owner, an open space restaurant, a pool and 4 bungalows for rent, each has a patio and a bathroom whose the roof is the sky. I woke up every morning in my bungalow to the sound of bird singing, reptiles playing and leaves rustling. Maria and Samba, who own the lodge and also run a NGO they founded, made sure that I have a memorable time. They took me with them on their errands to Kafountine, lunchout in a delicious local restaurant and to a nice party in the neighborhood. Through them I gained a much better look into the local way of life and got to know the interesting expat community in the area. Plus I was fed everyday with healthy, excellent food. Samba is an incredibly talent cook. He would suggest some options for each meal based on what available in the house at that moment. The guests would decide if they want meat, fish or only vegetable, the rest is up to the cook’s imagination. And it always exceeded my every expectation. Samba’s food must be the best food I ever tasted in Africa. Will definitely stay here again if I ever come back to Casamance. Thank you Maria and Samba!

Well maintained ecolodge in a beautiful garden full of birdlife. Nice, comfortable rooms with the little twist of an outdoor shower. Very good restaurant and helpful owners. Next to a bolong where you can kayak between the mangroves with boats from the lodge
