An extremely interesting museum on Léopold Senghor, his father and their works. The explanations, provided by Étienne in a tone of pleasant humor, are very interesting; we learn both the history of the family and the essentials of the life of the first president of Senegal (without being a surplus of information). The building, although in deplorable condition due to lack of government assistance, is superb. I went there without much conviction but came out delighted. It is undoubtedly a detour to make during your visit to Joal-Fadiouth! Open every day of the week except Monday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Price of 1000 FCFA per person.

Very warm welcome, interesting, dynamic guided tour suitable for everyone. It's a shame that there are not enough funds to maintain everything in good condition; the photographic panels are marked by the wear and tear of time.

The birthplace of the late first President of the Republic of Senegal Mr. Léopold Sedar Senghor. This house was built at the beginning of 1850 by his late father Diogoye Basile Senghor. The latter was an animist like most of the inhabitants of Senegal. It was after his baptism by Catholic missionaries that his name Diogoye Senghor will be Diogoye Basile Senghor.

The guide is great! Funny, friendly, educated... he masters his subject perfectly with his fly and mosquito repellent stick, you will recognize him at first glance. No entrance fee, just tip for the guided tour which teaches you a lot about the history of the former president of the Senegalese republic. Many anecdotes on the history of Senegal, the Marseilles, the flag, etc. An incongruous and essential visit at the same time for all those who want to leave Senegal with the feeling of not having just come as simple tourists…

(Translated by Google) Exciting explanations from the guide on site, cultured, a lot of humor... What a pity all the same that the Senegalese public authorities leave this place in this state of virtual abandonment. As if, in France, we disinterred Lariboisière in France.

(Translated by Google) Once there we unfortunately lack of maintenance and the dilapidated state of the building. No welcome and no guide.

I stopped in for a visit with 16 French teachers in late June with my Vive l'expérience group. We were delighted by the informative, clever, and funny tour by the curator who was there. We learned a lot and really appreciated the visit. The backyard includes a giant, lovely baobab which was a great place to grab some extra pictures. The location is currently being renovated but it is still definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend. And from here, it's just a few minutes to get to the bridge for Fadiouth.
