My
reference
for
a
5
star
Italian
restaurant
in
Singapore
is
Basilico
at
the
Grand
Hyatt.
4
stars
for
this
restaurant
is
by
no
means
an
insult
or
negative
criticism.
For
the
price
and
location
it
is
5
stars.
It's
located
opposite
a
construction
site
and
the
noise
of
the
work
was
a
little
intrusive
as
we
were
sitting
outside
in
the
evening.
The
area
was
spacious,
clean,
very
breezy
and
comfortable
with
appropriate
lightning.
We
had
the
antipasti
share
platter
which
had
an
above
average
sliced
meat
selection
and
a
slightly
less
generous
but
reasonably
good
quality
cheese
selection
including
a
locally
made
fresh
and
creamy
buratta
cheese.
The
platter
would
have
been
better
suited
to
my
taste
with
more
cheese(s)
&
less
meat.
The
Aperol
spritzers
were
very
generous
and
are
recommended.
The
Americano
(Campari)
was
a
good
strength/balance
but
less
generous
and
the
speciality
house
cocktail
Baci
Baci
was
an
interesting
gin
based
drink
with
fresh
salad
notes;
not
something
you'd
drink
often
but
worth
trying
for
its
uniqueness.
We
had
2
pizzas,
Neapolitan
and
Capriciosa.
The
pizzas
were
easily
enough
for
4.
We
had
extra
anchovies
with
the
Neapolitan
and
were
richly
rewarded!
The
flavours
of
both
pizzas
were
excellent
but
the
pizza
base
was
overly
thin
and
became
soggy
by
the
second
slice.
The
first
slice
was
HEAVEN!
The
bruschetta
was
very
well
done
and
the
table
olive
oil
and
balsamic
vinegar
were
above
average
for
a
restaurant
in
this
class,
very
flavoursome
and
full
bodied.
Our
desert
platter
consisted
of
a
very
generous
Creme
brulee,
Tiramisu
with
a
decent
alcohol
content,
a
lovely,
rich
and
smooth
Panna
Cotta,
a
sinfully
dense
chocolate
log
and
a
disappointing
pistachio
gelato
(size
&
lack
of
flavour).
Other
than
the
gelato,
the
desert
platter
was
the
star
of
the
meal
and
is
a
must
have
@$42.
Summary:
Generous
portions,
honest
flavours,
great
value
cocktails
and
very
pleasant,
friendly
and
unobtrusive
service.
I
would
recommend
a
visit
and
will
go
again
myself
during
these
sad
CV19
days
when
Basilico
is
not
100%
itself
and
for
a
casual
evening
out
with
friends.
See
you
there.
