Good
Chicken
Rice
is
very
subjective.
Most
would
have
grown
up
or
grown
older
with
their
favourite
chicken
rice
haunt
somehow
or
somewhere,
and
this
would
largely
be
very
family
or
parent
influenced
selection.
For
us,
a
good
Chicken
Rice
will
need
only
3
things....and
not
in
any
particular
order
-
how
fragrant
and
'mouth-watering'
is
the
rice
-
the
chilli
sauce
...
level
of
spicy-ness
and
taste
-
the
chicken
itself.
In
Rawang
town
i
chanced
upon
a
dedicated
Chicken
Rice
shop
operating
for
the
last
15
year
(as
told
by
the
owner-boss)
and
they
have
curated
an
eclectic
mix
of
patrons,
largely
Chinese
and
Indians
(surprising
isnt
it?).
Now,
the
rice
is
fragrant
and
'mouth-watering'
as
they
have
added
the
right
amount
or
garlic,
and
you
know
its
gonna
be
good
when
the
rice
dont
have
the
margarine
infused
taste
and
smell.
I
am
sure
they
used
chicken
fat
and
chicken
broth
to
cook
the
rice.
The
secondary
star
of
this
dedicated
shop
is
the
chilli.
It
has
a
real
kick
with
the
right
proportions
of
chilli,
garlic,
and
hint
of
vinegar....and
to
top
that,
you
know
they
have
taken
great
pride
in
their
chilli
sauce
when
the
consistency
is
not
runny
or
watery
with
the
right
amount
of
kick
to
elevate
the
taste
of
the
chicken.
Personally,
i
am
more
a
roast
chicken
rice
person
as
i
hate
the
sight
of
oozing
chicken
blood
from
the
bones.
This
shop
is
set
to
change
my
mind.
The
chicken
here
is
doubled
blanched,
rested,
and
bathe
in
cold
water.
That's
the
secret,
as
told
to
me
by
the
Owner-Boss.
His
wife
takes
great
pain
in
her
work,
and
the
result
is...
the
chicken
is
soft,
succulent,
juicy,
and
'glistening'.
Ahaaaa,
we
learn
a
thing
or
two,
dont
we?
As
a
side
dish,
i
am
quite
impressed
with
their
meatballs
and
fishballs.
Dont
think
they
are
shop
made
but
still
good
quality.
If
you
are
ever
passing
through
Rawang
town,
this
shop
will
not
disappoint
a
growling
stomach
...as
what
happened
to
us
on
the
way
back
after
the
voting
in
the
Selangor
state
elections.
The
shop
is
clean
and
spruced
properly
with
many
tables....and
worth
the
quick
pit
stop
for
the
growling
tummy.

31/8/2023
We
revisited
this
restaurant
for
brunch
since
it
was
a
public
holiday
to
test
out
our
review
with
some
foodie
friends.
Surprisingly,
we
found
out
2
things.
Firstly,
our
foodie
friends
agreed
with
our
review
and
assessment.
Secondly,
we
realised
that
the
rice
itself,
though
chicken
flavoured
and
cooked
with
chicken
broth,
didn't
cause
an
MSG
explosion
like
many
chicken
rice
outlets
with
their
'amped'
up
flavour
profile.
The
flavoured
rice
is
very
much
a
closely
guarded
trade
secret,
and
many
outlets
have
that
turbo-charged
taste
profile,
leaving
you
busy
gulping
down
water
within
the
hour
and
an
'oile-greasy-slightly
nauseating
after
taste'.
This
restaurant's
rice
feels
fresh,
clean,
and
not
ever-bearing
on
the
tummy.
So
yeah.....we
had
a
pleasant
drive
back
after
lunch
enjoying
the
green
backdrop
of
Templer
Park
area.
