Simple, unpretentious and delicious. That’s the short description of Zao. They tick all the boxes for a successful restaurant - keep things simple, be it the decor, menu and pricing. Just give good food to your customers and they will return. Housed in a shop lot bordering SS2 and Section 19, the simple store front greets you with the main kitchen on the left and the entrance to the dining area on the right. Very smart layout since they minimise cost without having to hire wait staff, and can also serve takeaway orders as well, it’s basically self service here, but you won’t mind since it helps to lower prices. The menu isn’t extensive, with a choice of different breakfast platters, sandwiches and such. There’s even options for those who are vegetarian (not vegan). The inside decor is also kept simple and clean and lends a relaxed atmosphere. I enjoyed my bacon sunny side up sandwich. It was fresh, tasted very good with fresh vegetables and their delectable mayo spread. Will return again soon for their weekday specials which include rice dishes too!

Good big breakfasts. Coffee was so so. It's a self service cafe means you take your food from the counter and put it back to kitchen trolley once done. Having that being said, I hope they do clean the tables regularly within the day...

Great spot for breakfast super early in the morning. They serve hearty breakfast sandwiches here with simple ingredients like scrambled egg, hashbrown, sausage, etc. Cozy environment and reasonable pricing too. If you’re a big eater like me, you can always add on items like eggs or sausages to your sandwiches.

One of the early open breakfast place, surprisingly alot of people at 9am. Great ambience, ample of parking space. Food and coffee are ok, taste just fine without surprises. Little open kitchen and ordering counter makes it an action stall and absolutely cute. A small green corner with coffee brewing station spread the coffee fragrance, makes the whole place absolutely inviting

Delightful place, delicious food. The kimchi pork belly is so we'll balanced that I find it taste despite the fact that I don't like kimchi. The fluffy shrimp omelette is light and well seasoned. The rose flower tea is a tad strange though. I didn't finish. Very friendly staff. The clean white interior is relaxing

One of the few places that opens early if you want to have bacon and eggs breakfast. Limited space. Self service. Food was very tasty. Bread used for sandwich was fresh and flavorful. Good food.

We love coming here with family and friends. Quality standards are always consistent, bright place for photo taking, clean and comfortable atmosphere. A nice place for catching up with friends with great and healthy meals 🍽️❤️

Self service and pickup. Uses qrcode on the wall to view the menu. Very busy cafe during breakfast time over the weekends. Variety of sandwiches available and they even had rice as part of the choice. Kind of unique and delicious. Parking abit difficult to find on peak hours. Price range around rm18 to rm29+.

Today breakfast at Zǎo-Breakfast Anytime, located at Jalan 19/3, Petaling Jaya (near SS2). They open quite early, and you can have breakfast here as early as 6 a.m. Zǎo is an amazing breakfast place beyond your imagination, with a wide variety of choices. The prices are a bit on the ATAS side 🫣. I think their sandwiches are popular, but I didn't try them. I ordered the Fluffy Egg-Shrimp and it cost me RM26. The fluffy scrambled eggs came with a refreshing mixed salad and bacon. The eggs were really smooth and delicious, although I think the shrimp could have been cooked a bit crispier. They only serve regular coffee here, but that's alright. Overall, the staff is friendly, and the food feels healthy in a comfortable and clean environment, but it's a bit over budget. Definitely not a place to have breakfast every day, 😅😂🤣

A very cozy and spacey breakfast place, very hard to find such breakfast place which open that early. Decent cooking and plating, would love to see more fresh protein options hopefully, too much processed protein like ham, sausages, luncheon meats, bacon… Milk coffee can be thicker/richer, nice sides like the eggplant. Will try the sandwich next time :)

Decent zen breakfast place on a weekend. I enjoyed their bacon and egg on a chia seeds toast. Whats notable is that their bread is pretty light so it was pretty easy to finish one portion on my own though i initially thought it was wayyy too much

New to this area and Zao is my top favorite place for quick n easy no fuss meal to kick start my day. Food is delish! Hearty wholesome food, small menu but they do what they are best at. Their grilled Portobello mushroom is one of the best I've ever had. I like that they are not pretentious, self service, self sufficient concept. Love to support this kind local biz👍🏽 Friendly staff.

Arrived early here around 7.45am on a Friday and there already a few tables waiting for their order. Had the mushroom mozzarella and cheese hash brown ham grilled sandwich. The hash brown sandwich is top notch while the mozzarella was quite good, perhaps more suited to those who like heavier cheesy taste. Completed the meal with a black coffee and it was quite a nice place to start the day with a hearty meal. Would've given 5 stars if they improve the ventilation of the place. The smell from the kitchen permeates into the dining area and you smell like bacon and eggs after dining here.

The best early breakfast cafe in PJ, nice food & quiet ambience. Quality maintained as good as the first time I came in 2017 and now.

A great place for breakfast. Delicious and very nicely done meals. Good price also. The only downside is the ventilation, i could not sit there longer due to the cooking smell.

The food was quite good with big portion but not fantastic to me. Mainly self-service but good ambience for gathering with friend. The shops can be quite crowded during peak hours. No fancy coffee (like latte flatwhite cappuccino with coffee art) but their americano/kopi-o was not bad.

Would give this place 3.5/5 stars. Menu is given at the counter to the left when you step in. Ring the bell if there’s no one there. You order and pay immediately at the counter. Food is a nice portion. Not too much, not too little. I had the fluffy egg shrimp and added on a hashbrown. There was a generous amount of shrimps and the eggs were nice and well flavoured. The hashbrown was crispy. My only critique is that the bacon was a bit too hard and chewy. The atmosphere certainly has the smell of fried foods that lingers. Nothing much can be done about it as they do have multiple air purifiers around. Just have to withstand the smell for a bit.

I enjoyed the “Happy Belly” breakfast with black coffee.. the fluffy scrambled eggs was lovely. A bit pricey and hard to find parking tho (had to circle around to the field behind to hunt for parking).

Food is ok and reasonable. Staff is very friendly and supportive when you ordering. The downside that i think would be better improvement is finding ways to remove noise in the dining. Very uncomfortable feeling especially you just wanted to start your early morning.

Overall a nice place for breakfast with limited option.. the food taste good and fresh. They don't serve coffee here. One of the shop that opens early if you looking for English /sandwich kinda breakfast
