I visited these gardens in a beautiful sunny day and it was so relaxing that if I could I'd have spent here a week. The castle was close so I visited the small Chapel, the world garden with the annex green houses and then totally enjoy peaceful strolls through the gardens with my kids. They love it too. The area is quite big with a lake on one side which makes the whole place even more peaceful. There's a small cafe as well where to buy simple things and drinks. What I enjoyed most is the wide garden (the arboretum) with big trees from all around the world, including a ginkgo biloba (dinosaur tree). Small bridges connect to other spaces across water lines. You are literally in the nature. if you are a nature lover, this place is for you. I thought to find more flowers but probably I choose the wrong period (beginning of May). Not sure but I guess that probably beginning or middle of April could reserve even a more spectacular show of flowers!

It’s ok overall, but not sure it would’ve been worth the admission had we not had free entry through our Historic Houses membership. The world gardens were interesting, the wooded walk was brief but ok, but the house is a little disappointing. The gardens were decent as it had various world regions represented like Australia, North America, Japan, and more. There were many different types of plants and the signs were good. The downside was some paths were overrun so it was slightly tricky to walk through at points, but interesting. The house was a disappointment. There are only 8 rooms, and no real signs though one or two volunteers inside. It was a bit lackluster in objects and presentation so we were in and out in about 10 minutes. Toilets at the front were adequate but everyone can hear you as walls only go up halfway to the ceiling (awkward). We didn’t try the cafe, but seemed to have a nice rented area with several options.

Lullingstone Castle is one of England’s oldest family estates, dating back to the time of Domesday. The World Garden combines plant heritage with cutting-edge horticulture. Set within 120 acres of beautiful Kent Countryside, Lullingstone Castle is one of England’s oldest family estates, dating back to the time of Domesday. The present Manor House and Gatehouse dating from 1497 have been home to the Hart Dyke family ever since.

We had an excellent walk, The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The world gardens are worth a trip if you are into plans and trees from around the world. I enjoyed a good coffee and a cake, unfortunately the house was closed but that did not detract from the visit. Good parking. Dog and family friendly. Good place to stop for a tea.

It was a really nice day. The kids loved it seeing the gardens and all the different sections with funny looking flowers as the kids put it. Would highly recommend a great day out for the whole family!

WOW! Such an amazing place. A real gem just along the road from Lillingstone Roman Villa. There is a lot to see here but the highlights for us were firstly seeing The World Garden itself, which was designed and created by Tom Hart Dyke, the well known horticulturalist and on the day meeting the man himself. His story of being captured and held captive in South America, while exploring plant species, is quite amazing. Then, while in captivity, he conceived the idea of the World Garden and set about designing it. Luckily, (for all of us too!) several months later he was released. That was in 2000. Since then, the gardens have become well- established. We were particularly excited to see the Mexico garden but there are plant species from all over the globe and the collection is being added to continually. It's possible to buy many of the plants too. Tom and his team do an amazing job. On the day we visited, we were able to chat with Tom. The enthusiasm for what he does oozes out of him. Such a great guy. I would definitely recommend a visit. We will be going back very soon.

Such a lovely little find. Looking forward to going back as didn't realize the house is only open on event weekends. My son and I enjoyed the gardens so much though and was worth walking up from the Roman Villa. Super cool to know the owners son designed the garden whilst being held captive for 9months in 2000!

Beautiful place, pity one didn't get to see more of the inside. The world garden was ok. Little disappointed as a English Heritage member it mentions on the Lullington Castle and the world garden, Heritage members one is free and the other pays. The lady at the entrance was rather abrupt and told us that the website is not always correct. That I did gins misleading....didn't argue but paid...

Such a beautiful place. Staff are so friendly, helpful and knowledgable of the Castle's history. The gardens and church are equally beautiful and the tea tent is a great place to sit and get refreshments.

A really lovely place for a stroll and the focus on plants from different parts of the world makes it a bit more interesting and informative than most gardens, on top of being beautiful.

A strange place that has a rather poor website. The website fails to tell you that the main entrance is closed on Thursdays resulting in you having to go back to Eynsford and driving along a small one way road. The world garden was fairly interesting but there wasn't much else here to interest anybody. The castle only opens occasionally and looked in a sorry state.

Lovely gardens, such a shame to see many plants scorched from the heatwave. Great tea room with sandwiches made to order, beautiful church and grounds.

It was a lovely place to visit, despite being closed and not allowed even into the grounds. But other than that it was clean, it was beautiful, well kept and very authentic. I would totally recommend, but if you can get in, even better!!

We went to Lullingstone to spend a quiet day away from the hussle and bussle of life and it did not disappoint, the grounds we're kept in brilliant condition and the views over the lake were so tranquil we wish we took a picnic because the weather was perfect on the day and with a lovely walk around the gardens it was just what was needed, highly recommend going
