After many years of plantation most of the bunkers and pill boxes now have poor visibility. If refer to the old photos we can find that the bunkers have good firing angles. Unlike what is told in propaganda, the redoubt was indeed built to just DELAY invasion from north and let the main force of army to retreat to HK Island.

Location of the Shing Mun War Relics Trail which includes part of the “Gin Drinker’s Line” fortifications. Scene of one of the Battles of Hong Kong in 1941. Many intact tunnels which can be entered. Part of Maclehose Trail Section 6.

Built and used during world War II they are still in great shape and safe to walk through. One section is flooded and caved in but the rest are in fantastic shape.

(Translated by Google) When you see the sign on the sixth section of MacLehose Trail and walk uphill from the direction of Jinshan, will you find some special artificial buildings? It turned out that these ruined defeats were one of the remaining wartime remains of Hong Kong during World War II. The Chengmen bunker is part of the defense line of the drunken line and is located south of the Chengmen Reservoir. Because the bunker is located where the line of defense is the weakest part of the entire line of defense, the British army built the bunker on the hillside with steel bars and cement. Although the city gate bunker is expected to be able to stand for two weeks before the war, the Japanese army finally captured the bunker within a few hours. The bunker and the entire Drunken Bay defense line, combined with the Japanese air raids, led the defender to retreat south to Hong Kong Island. . The gate bunker still exists today, but only part of the tunnel has been blocked by sand and mud. If you walk into the tunnel, you will find that it is named after the London place name, street name and hotel name (Original)

(Translated by Google) Bring a small flashlight on Sunday to explore the dungeon with the children and fight monsters. Chengshui Reservoir ~ Chengmen Trenches ~ Maijing Section 6 ~ Jinshan Country Park. The whole journey is about 7 kilometers, and it takes about 2 and a half minutes to walk with the children. The trenches of the city gates have an expedition feel, which extends in all directions, and the entrance and exit are unknown. Some entrances are half a person's height, and you must be careful to enter the cave. Of course, if you want to know more about it, you can go to youtube to view the information first to understand how the British army was captured by the Japanese at that time. After that, I went to the sixth section of Mai Keng to look at the Tsuen Wan area in Kwai Chung, and it was easy to get there. When I went to the section of Jinshan Country Park, I saw a lot of monkeys. Of course, don’t bring food to feed them.
