Ma on Shan peak. With a height of 702 metres (2,303 ft), it stands among the ten highest mountains in Hong Kong. The mountain borders Sha Tin and Tai Po districts.  This is one of the best hikes I’ve done in Hong Kong and it is really worth you doing it. It is best to start the hike at Ma On Shan BBQ site.  There the trail leads up on the ‘family trail’   This will lead tp what looks like a dead end, ignore this and hop the fence.  The real hike will begin .  It starts off easy enough, with muddy but well defined path through the trees and vegetation. The trees disappear and make way for lush green vegetation and mountainous vista ahead of you.  Don’t stop, just keep going forward.  The trail was excellent, the wind blowing and the fresh air around you.  Invigorating Keep going up the path, youll come to a dead end and a barrier.  Igonore this, hop over it and continue going up. It gets steeper and more challenging as you go up but it;ll be worth it.  The views also get better and better as you go. The trail leads to what is known as Pyramid Peak, im unsure why I guess it kind of looks like a pyramid (maybe).  What do you think? The views from the top are simply awesome, and well worth the challengin climb.  You’ll be glad you did it To end the hike follow the signs and go back to a village and get the bus to Sai Kung.  from there you can get a bus back into the city.

Best place to hike and camp to see the sunset and sunrise! My recommended route it to get a taxi to the pavilion because there is no buses that go there. And then when you plan to back to the pier from the beach, I’d definitely recommend getting the speed boat. We got the speed around 6/7pm and there wasn’t many of us and we had to pay a bit extra to call the boat so do get it early. Our journey back was a bit bumpy because of the tides but it was one hella fun ride! Legit so fun! Defo going back again if I have the chance again.

(Translated by Google) The taxi from Sai Kung Market to Sai Wan Pavilion is about 100 yuan, and the journey from Sai Wan Pavilion to Sai Wan takes about 20 minutes. If you plan to take a minibus, you have to wait in front of McDonald's in Sai Kung Market, but there are usually many people. Some people take a green taxi directly from Pak Tam Chung Country Park to Sai Wan Pavilion From Sai Wan Pavilion, you must call a taxi on the way before returning to Sai Kung. Otherwise, there will be no signal at Sai Wan Pavilion.

Ma On Shan Country Park (The section closest to Yiu On Estate of Ma On Shan) A nice getaway from the city. Easily accessible either by hiking or cycling up the paved road, or driving or hailing a cab to get to the country park BBQ area. From there, you can just enjoy being surrounded by lots of trees with patches of blue and white right above you on a good day. A 20-minute hiking trail for families and beginners right outside the BBQ area will allow you to have some mild workout without breaking much sweat. For people who love adventures or more extreme form of hiking (but still without the need for eqiupment), there is a difficult trail which begins at one of the lookout points of the family trail and takes you all the way to the peak of Ma On Shan, if you can bear the steep climb.

This is a good hiking trail for beginners. I went hiking from Ma on Shan Park to Sai Kung on a sunny day. There’s some river stream along the way and some cows eating grasses.

(Translated by Google) Hikers should be careful about vehicle arrangements when returning. Minibuses are often full and waiting for a long time. Taxis have a good chance of charging on an uneasy meter (as if they charge more than 100 yuan per person to Saigon City) and wait for enough people before driving. (Original) 行山者小心回程時車輛安排,小巴經常爆滿及等候時間長,而的士有好大機會以不安錶收費(好似每位收佰多元去西貢市)及等足夠人數才開車

I went there with a couple of my friends, all in all this is a very nice hiking location, pretty of plantation, clean air, the weather that is is pretty sunny so we had an excellent time there. would definitely recommend anyone who want to have a great hang out hiking trip with ur significant others. one thing on mind tho, in some of the area you would get direct sunlight, so be sure to bring an umbrella or a hat.
