The hotel is very well located, perfect to visit stone town. The decoration is amazing, and the building actually rich in history. The room is nice and has a small balcony. There’s an AC and ceiling fan. Last but not least, the staff is super friendly and helpful. We couldn’t enjoy the breakfast which was included as we had to leave earlier to the airport, the staff prepared a takeaway snack (pastries) for us. I would recommend this place !

A boutique hotel in the middle of the city. You can taste the century old architecture. Staff are outstanding. We got upgraded to the suite on arrival. Location is central, once you step inside you feel disconnected from the outside world. Highly recommended.

Surprisingly we were given the honeymoon suite on the top floor (travelled with a group of 12 pax). The the lift was out of order. Poor guys that had to carry our suitcases up 4 floors!!! Normally after breakfast I go back to the room to brush my teeth. This time I didn't. The stairs to the top floor are very, very steep and unregular (it's an old Palace). Service was great, breakfast too. The room was very big and we had a bathroom with a shower "underneath the stars". The 4* rating in "service" is just because lift wasn't working. Would definitely come back.

Good: Nice hotel, good food, clean room, excellent location near to Freddie Mercury house, good looking interior, nice stuff on the reception. Bad: Bad smell in WC and shower pressure and water temperature varies.

Title: A Gem in Stone Town – Dhow Palace Hotel I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Dhow Palace Hotel during my visit to Zanzibar, and it was truly an exceptional experience. The rooms at Dhow Palace Hotel are a haven of comfort and cleanliness. The cozy beds provided a restful night's sleep, and the attention to detail in room maintenance was evident. The added touch of a mosquito net over the bed and nightly room sprays demonstrated the hotel's commitment to guest well-being. One highlight of my stay was the diverse and satisfying breakfast spread, featuring an array of fresh fruits. The centrally positioned hotel in Stone Town made exploring the area convenient, allowing me to soak in the rich cultural atmosphere effortlessly. The staff at Dhow Palace Hotel deserve special mention for their warm welcome and friendliness throughout my stay. Their genuine hospitality added a personal touch, making me feel right at home. The complimentary Wi-Fi and the provision of tea and coffee in the rooms were thoughtful additions that enhanced the overall experience. Furthermore, the indoor pool provided a relaxing retreat after a day of exploration. It's evident that the Dhow Palace Hotel goes above and beyond to create a comfortable and enjoyable environment for its guests. In summary, my stay at Dhow Palace Hotel was nothing short of fantastic. I highly recommend it to fellow travelers seeking a blend of comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality in the heart of Zanzibar's Stone Town.

The hotel with its location and decor makes a perfect stay in Stone town. Room is spacious and the furniture authentic. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast offers a lot of varieties. Highly recommend for a stay in the city :)

Very collonial and arabesque style hotel. Rooms were big with antique style furniture. All rooms had ac and fans. Room service was good as was cleaning. Front of desk staff very helpful. Rooftop area is beautiful. Corridors have something to look at at every turn. Lighting is very poor in the rooms during night too and maybe bathroom needs updating a bit. Otherwise the staffs customer service is lovely. Would come here again.

The hotel as a whole does take you back to the 19 century. Traditional decor and helpful staff. However food is simple and basic. There is a pool (would be nice for a section to allow toddlers to play in). The room sizes are spacious. The biggest downside was that I saw a lot of cockroachs in the room in and around the fridge as well as in the room (this may be due to the furniture but again no excuses). The WiFi is very poor especially in the room we were staying in only getting a little better when going outside in the hallway.

We had a very good experience ! The location is perfect in the old town, which everything is walkable. The breakfast was incredible with so much and the eggs bar is such a good idea. And amazing staff very helpful and kind.

Nice old hotel. You feel like a traveller of the XIX century. The roof terrace at sunset is a must even if you are not customer. You can enjoy there a dinner or evening tea

On a busy road but once inside very quiet. My room was very good and the facilities great. The only drawback was my room was next to the kitchen yard so the outlook was not great but then I was not in the room much. The menu is limited but very cheap and I recommend the Beef Sizzle. Service was brilliant.

Very central and beautifully decorated hotel! I chose a room with ocean view (Jahazi if I remember well) which was truly great with an open air bathtub and a huge rooftop area. Definitely worth the 20$ more. Nevertheless, I was given another one so I had to request the right one but it got solved very quickly. The mattress could have been more comfortable and I would have expected a turndown service with mosquito net installation for the standard and price! Breakfast was average with too much and not enough quality. Staff were globally all very friendly.

Overall amazing experience! Staff is on-par and super hospitable! We ordered Avocado Salad. They did not have fresh avocados so they sent someone running to the closest market to get some. Rooms with the pool view are BomB! Only thing you might find a little different is the food - but thats how it is there so…

The rooms are set in old style. Comfortable beds, bathrooms all that you need. Sometimes depending on the room it can be loud from outside but that's not the hotels fault. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is a buffet.

Sister hotel of Mizingani Seafront. Great rooms, food and staff. Ideal location for exploring Stone Town. Climb to the very top of the hotel for an outstanding 360 view of the town.

We had a wonderful time at this historical place, almost felt like living in a museum. So many lovely details and well maintained, considering the age of the building. It is definitely one of the cleanest hotels we've seen on the island. We had a massive, comfortable triple room with nice bathroom. The pool is great and breakfast was nice too. We particularly enjoyed the location in the heart of Stone town, but it was still quiet in the room. I would have wished for a locker inside the room, but you can use one by the reception desk. Highly recommend the place for a relaxing stay in the city.

We stayed in the main building (and not the annexe which is not the same standing at all, so be careful when you book to clarify if you are in the main building or in the annex). My rating and review concern the main building only. The hotel is well decorated and very well located in the center of stone town, very close to the shore. Perfectly located to visit and enjoy Stone Town by feet. The breakfast is amazing and really worth it. We ordered one time lunch and food was very good. The rooms are nice but not sooo clean and lot of maintenance are required. However we really enjoyed our 2 nights at the hotel. The staff is very friendly. They can also arrange airport shuttle for 30$ (1 way). The pool is nice and they provide towels upon request.

Precious hotel in the center of Stone Town. Has all the facilities you may need. I loved the room with the antique and beautiful furniture.

kind and sweet personnel, but the kitchen is very smelly. I mean we didn't eat there so I cannot judge the food, but just the smell of burnt salty fat was extreme.

Nice hotel in stone town. Location is nice, with many shops around. The swimming pool is a real plus, but the air conditioning in the room is very old and thus very noisy (100DB measured). For a $100+ hotel, I would have expected higher quality

Giving them a 4 star because this hotel had really good service. We were basically stranded on our first night when we booked with doubletree Hilton and they cancelled our booking last minute. I called around and dhow palace was very accommodating and fit us in. Good rate for a 2 night stay. It was a basic room with no view. The AC was very weak and incredibly loud so if you’re a light sleeper..probably wouldn’t be a good idea to stay here unless you’ve got really good earplugs.

Nice & friendly staff, great breakfast and incredibly beautiful rustic space of the hotel, that will give you a true African vibe feeling! The location is excellent - beach, Feeddie Mercury house, fish market, center all is few minutes walk :) We really loved our stay here!

Quite an interesting experience. Part of the building dates back to 1559 and it feels like a museum in some parts, with artifacts on display. Breakfast was disappointing, however. The room was excellent but the bathroom was also a little disappointing. The open air bath looked lovely but would take a LONG time to fill I fear. The shower over it wasn't working - at least, we couldn't find any way to make it.

Pool was nice, aesthetics of building good. Off a side street - so no external noise - which was nice. Room was fine, but bathroom left much to be desired. My partner felt an electric charge while in the shower (!!) and the bathroom needed some love.

😐 The places has a lot history and photos of Freddie Mercury but I think they could do more because it’s very small. You pay 8 dollars for the entrance. If you are a very big fan of Mercury, I recommend it.
