This is the most hilarious and informative place. I recommend the first floor for a great laugh. Every type of wine cup imaginable - from extra large, too extra small, shaped like a woman, shaped like private parts, shaped like a dog. :D Find out how drunk people were during the time of Confucius! Also exhibits calligraphy, traditional dress (amazing) and sculptures (also amazing). Very informative, free to enter, english maps and self tours available, toilet facilities, wheelchair accessible, paid parking, and 400m from metro exit.

"shop dine walk shop again " Best pedestrian place to stroll around in shanghai with n number of shops and eateries. From morning till midnight the buzzing streets will keep you busy in every way it can. BTW beware of scammers all around, other than that nothing to complain about this place. best place for shoppers. I could see people dancing in groups with loud music, mainly of age groups 50 and above at many different places. At first I thought it was some kind of street show but as I Observed closely it was basically a kind of exercise for the senior citizens, however there is no age limit set and anyone can join enjoy or workout themselves whichever one would prefer. It’s called “Jie Wu” in Mandarin roughly translated as street dance.

A must see in Shanghai loved this museum with so much to see inside and so many years of history. Do not miss a visit here if you are in Shanghai. Be careful of people approaching you near here as they try to scam you and take you to a tea house to then rip you off.

What an atmosphere!! Nanjing Road is the biggest and most famous shopping district in Shanghai. It is not only a shopping area, but it is an iconic historical footprint of the British concession era. The road was the first and main access to link between the port (The Bund) and the British settlement. Today, The road is around 6km and it is divided into Eastern Nanjing and Western Nanjing. The east part starts from the bund to the People’s Square. This part of the district is considered as the original old Nanjing road, where you can find stores and buildings with more than 150 years history. Currently, some of these buildings are occupied by department stores international or local restaurants and hotels. Walking in the eastern Nanjing is always fun, where you can go shopping, eating and getting lost in the crowd taking selfies. You can also enjoy riding the mini train which will take you from one end to another. It is around 10 minutes ride in one direction. It is even more fun and exciting walking around at night when the area gets more crowded and you can take nice picture of the crowded road with the neon stores signboards

A very busy & vibrant commercial shopping street, eastern part from the Bund to Peoples square was more crowded with a pedestrian street for walking where traffic was not allowed. Both side of the street were full of classical European big buildings along with modern large buildings. A lot of malls selling Chinese as well as western branded goods were there. Monte Blanc, Dunhill, Omega, US Polo etc. Some crowded shops were selling Chinese confectionaries & moon cakes. Restaurants selling western as well Chinese dishes were drawing a lot of people. A small tram was available to ride on the busy street. Nanjing dong lu metro station was just at the side of the street. Historically the road ran through the British concession is must visit place of nowadays Shanghai.

Spending time at Shanghai Museum was invaluable. Half day was not enough for someone who's eager to explore the antiques, historic stuffs and arts. Visiting early at the opening time helps you get into the museum quicker and avoid getting stuck in a long queue for more than 1 hour.

It's a great place to learn some Chinese Art History. The bilingual display is really helpful for foreigners. We also love the gift shop.

(Translated by Google) At least the lower two floors should definitely be visited; the museum will positively surprise everyone who only expects the historical accumulation of dug-out arrowheads to simple vessels that is customary for such houses. The collections impress with the wealth of forms and images from a distant, non-European culture, and it becomes clear that they were way ahead of them in terms of time and content: for example, in the extremely artistic bronze vessels, some of which Already developed a thousand years before our era (i.e. before classical Greek culture), in the Li period idealized in retrospect by Confucius (or his later secretaries), and of course in (much later) porcelain. The small to life-sized figures, some of them from the time before Laotse and the emergence of Buddhism, but also from its heyday, are convincing, on the one hand, if they are intended to scare off the grim reign. But beyond all attitudes to power, others captivate through the expression of inner enlightenment, which in Europe, if at all, was only artistically expressed in the course of the Renaissance.

Quite an interesting museum that is worth a visit if you are interested in Chinese history and have a couple days in Shanghai. It is totally free to enter and explore. Most of the exhibits are centered around art in some shape or form, from the history of Chinese stamps & seals to Chinese tapestries through the ages to paintings & photographs by Chinese photographers. Unfortunately, many of the signs & descriptions of the artifacts are not (yet) available in English.

A lovely place to visit, brings me back memories when I used to come here with my friends, somehow it's way more fun when you come here at night, the lights are all bright, people here and there, left amd right, the real deal for shanghai. This street is also packed with branded brands: Gucci, Zara, PullnBear etc, the place to shop and really feel what shanghai's like, well it's like New York's Times Square, but not as packed. It's worth the visit just for once, but don't come here every single day, Shanghai is full of other hidden gems. Hope I helped you guys get the idea of this place, I also live in shanghai, I'm an overseas student, so I pretty much know shanghai. Thank you so much

It’s a hive of activity along here every day but returning at night breathes a whole new atmosphere with the impressive lights and bustling crowds. The range of shops is varied, from regular fashion outlets also found in the West to local food offerings where much of the produce is unrecognisable. There’s a large number of cafes and restaurants along the length too which give plenty of good opportunities to people watch and revive the feet. It’s a must see area for anyone wanting to explore the city though and doesn’t have the vibe of being touristy at all.

Shopping, shopping, shopping!!! This is a place to visit even if you don't want to shop. The whole place can get crowded but very vibrant and colorful. It is a full 20 mins walk from end to end (exclude shopping time). For a non-shopper like me, I could just sit there for an hour or two people watching and absorbing in the liveliness of the place.

Shopping street full of malls, restaurants and street food. Very beautiful at night. Malls are huge, several floors high. This street is usually very crowded. The one thing I did not like was some unscrupulous people that offer copies of Rolex watches and other luxurious brands to foreigners on the streets. They are very persistent and won't go away easily.

Another must visit spot when coming to Shanghai, the famed Nanjing Road pedestrian mall that stretches for something like 14kms across the Central city area. The architecture is striking and reminiscent of a bygone era of neon signboards and art decor design structures. There's something for everyone young and old here and even features a mall just for kids. There are modern pet cafes, bars and food courts interspersed with traditional restaurants on the main strip and one street over. Weekends and public holidays can bring larger crowds to the city areas so expect police and military presence for maintaining safety and crowd control. Well worth an evening visit!

It's a commercial and tourist spots. Many people said not worth to come, expensive, and a lots of tourists. Yup, it's true! But undeniable this is also one of the hottest spots you must visit when you came to Shanghai. After all, we all are tourist too, isn't it? Take a walk, feel the energy of the economical power of China. To be frank, I don't think worth the buying here, but window shopping is good.

As a result, I found that there are many exquisite works in the collection, and there are many animal face patterns, bird patterns, fire patterns, thunder patterns... .They are so cute. People who didn’t think thousands of years ago could make such exquisite artifacts! In the past, history textbooks only read the history of the Western Zhou Dynasty. The Xia Dynasty seems to be a mythical existence? Erlitou culture presents more and more Xia North Korea history. The Ceramic Hall and Ancient Jade Hall are also very exciting. A place I would always remember the glittering Shanghai. Old hotels and night clubs used to adorn the pedestrian mall. Modern China was marked by a huge Coke bottle and on another side by a smiling Chinese joker who is all smile, a caricature by one famous artist perhaps self-ridiculing and depreciating. Pick pockets, swindlers and touts swarm this pedestrian mall with many plain clothes police looking out for the tourists to ensure they do not tarnish the good name of the cities. Many retails and restaurant can situate many floors above the ground level, signboards and neon lights, synchronize to the rhythms of the night and the march of the many shoppers. It is a place to watch the world goes by and ponder how amazingly China has leap beyond many countries and race beyond the first world. Cashless society is one reality here, sci-fi world, robots, human laugh and pounce carrying shopping bags hurried pass each other. It is better than watching movies.

Great opportunity to shop in an open air promenade with plenty of American friendly stores. Just look out for the back alley hustlers, trying to lure you in for a massage (unless that is your thing).

Very lively location at night, filled with shopping centres and shops. The night view is pretty spectacular. Highly recommend you guys to stay at Majesty plaza Shanghai which is along this street. Really value for money at prime location.

This is a rather cool street to walk along at night. Plenty of shops (big name brand included) and places to eat. Lots of pretty lights and interesting things to photograph. If you continue walking along this street you'll eventually end up at the Bund: so maybe start here first. Well worth a visit!

    1. Long and wide walking street, but crowded, anytime 2. Kind of like endless shops 3. At the west end, it is the People's Park, toward the east end, you will reach The Bund 4. Neon lights, digital screens, advertisement everywhere 5. Be careful of touts, they are eyeing for foreigners especially.

(Translated by Google) Pedestrian paradise. It is one of the most famous tourist spots in Shanghai. It is located in the center of Shanghai, called People's Square, and its total length is about 3 km. If you come to Shanghai for sightseeing, you will definitely come here and take a picture. It's also a tourist destination for Chinese people, so it's basically quite crowded whenever you go. There are many shops and restaurants on the road surface, but there is not much recommended. There are many shops for tourists. There are many Chinese who are soliciting "bags and wallets", so be careful. Also, watch out for theft. It you want to go shopping, this is the place for you. According to our guide it is the only place in Shanghai where you can't bargain for prices. Everything is clean and polished, but gets very poor and dirty if you get 20 metres down a side road.

Quite upscale shopping street. Lots of people walking around at night. Not much activity though. There are two bars, foreign I think, right at the middle and they are empty. I think local Shanghainese won't come here for drinks. They would go somewhere like jinguo road.

A great place to visit in Shanghai, even though you don’t intend to buy anything. Despite the crowds, it’s enjoyable to stroll down the street lined with shops at night, enjoying the weather and browsing in some shops. There is also a nice 5RMB tram ride that takes you through the entire street so if you’re tired of walking and need to get back to the other side, you can take the tram.

Great attraction for both visitors and locals. This is an absolutely beautiful street of shops and cafés as well as hotels. You could spend several days going into all of the shops without repeating. It is very safe and well lit at night. I would recommend going both during the day and at night for different experiences worth doing twice. The East end is anchored by the Bund and Fairmont Peace hotel and the West end is anchored by the Le Royale People’s Park and Meridian Marriott. both hotels make good landmarks while you’re touring the city. Several of the hotels have rooftop bars that are open to the public. Do yourself a favor and head down a few of the alleys for additional shops and more authentic experiences. While it is beautiful it’s quite obvious that the storefronts are a thin veneer as either side of the street quickly becomes less polished. I would recommend to a friend.

Famous shopping promenade in Shanghai. It is super busy here at night time with locals and foreigners. There are lots of bright lights and big brand names such as: Apple, Sephora, Nike, Zara, Uniqlo, Pull & Bear. You can also find KFC, Pizza Hut, Burger King and McDonalds. This area king of reminds me of Times Square in NYC. Inside the “malls” along the strip, there are many smaller stores and food court / food hall type restaurants. To not backtrack and to enjoy the whole street, I would either start at People’s Square and walk all the way down to The Bund, or vice versa. This walk, without stops, should take 30 minutes.

A very busy pedestrian street 24/7, reflecting Shanghai’s reputation as a mega-city that never sleeps. From the East Nanjing Road Subway Station to the Bund, there’s a lot for any type of shopper: from name brands to street wear, from pretentious restaurants to street food. The most exciting for me is the street food. It’s inexpensive yet utterly delicious glimpses of Chinese cooking 😎😎😎… EXPLORE AND BE ADVENTUROUS. The street ends at the Bund, with a view of the Oriental Pearl Tower.

Nanjing road east and west, roads for your happiness for shopping. A heaven of brands luxury and economical. A must visit tourist place. Around 6 km long stretch of brands both side of road. Subway shopping area, stand alone brand shops, multi storey shopping malls, hotels etc are the highlight.
