Nice covered shelter overlooking the small lake. The nearby playground is great for ages maybe 2+. Very rarely busy. The bathroom building is on the other side of the lake but there is a port-a-potty close to the shelter in the parking lot.

Grandsons birthday party here 5/19/19. Nice big area, covered, lots of picnic tables, big fire pit. Nice playground near by but not right next to shelter. Toilets are a little bit of a hike. Overall, very nice and you need to call park to reserve, pay for and use the shelters.

Ive been coming to Shawnee Mission Park for 7 years and never knew this shelter and playground existed until recently. Its a nice little tucked away spot. Nearby there's a small lake, pirate playground, and open fields. The only downfall was the strrrong wind in this area. I had my daughters birthday here and it was so difficult to do anything. The decorations blew away, the trash blew away, basically everything blew away lol. I thought it was just a crazy windy day but there was no wind anywhere else I went the entire day and I went back on 2 separate times and I felt the wind. I think its just a perfect spot where the wind gets picked up. Not sure if anyone else had an issue with that tho. Other than the wind during a party, it really is nice area.

Very nice shelter and lots of parking. And playground near for little kids.

We love SMP! Need trash cans around shelter. There were none, closest one was about 1400ft away and was a giant dumpster

Beautiful, well kept park. Great for all outdoor activities.

Great place for a family picnic and then hit up the playground near by.

This was a great shelter. I just wouldn't choose it because it is up a long hill to the restroom. Difficult for disabled and older friends.

Always pleasant place to be at.

The cleanest park Johnson co. Went to shelter 2. This is a wonderful spot for you and kids. Back by it self so you don't have to worry about others.
