They have tons of seating options here of all kinds, from couches, to tables, to chairs, to outside patio seating. The spaciousness is excellent.

A really nice spot. They have several separated sitting areas with multiple seating options indoors and outdoors. I loved the biscuits and gravy and the staff was great. This is a great spot to meet a friend for a coffee or a meal.

Love this place. Nice little brunch place to relax and enjoy a nice meal and coffee with a few friends (or alone). The food is great. They have a bakery as well. Delicious. Calm environment. You clean up after yourself and pack to go yourself, if needed. Staff doesn't bother you, which is nice.

This is a classy, relaxing breakfast/ lunch spot. Nice menu variety with classic favorites and many unique options. We got sandwiches, they were excellent and large with what I think are homemade potato chips. Attention to detail was quite remarkable. Each ingredient on the sandwich was precisely placed on perfectly toasted bread and pinned together with bamboo skewers. ... And it took less than 5 minutes to be served. First time visitors get a fun pecan Sandie. Looking forward to trying there breakfast options

This was my first time and won’t be my last! The whole atmosphere was calming I came by myself and really enjoyed it. I had the Bacon & Sausage Quiche, and Smothered Burrito they were both wonderful. By the time I was done and left I completely forgot I ordered a croissant. Overall it was very nice can’t wait to come back again.

This location is fun, a bit quirky, but still delicious. Locally owned. Light breakfast and lunch dishes. Kid friendly! Cookies, pasty, cake.

Delicious hometown spot! The Market Wrap was so fresh and perfectly paired with crispy homemade pub chips. The sweet onion dip is an absolute must!! The mini cheesecake bites are a perfect sweet treat, and they often have rotating seasonal flavors. We love McLain’s!

This coffee shop is very cute and in a prime location. There’s lots of options for breakfast and bakery items. The shop is a bit pricier than other places I have been to in the area. I ended up getting a breakfast Quiche which was pretty good and a coffee cupcake from the bakery, which was not all that great, since it was dry and flavorless.

I've passed this place so many times without realizing what it was! I had a great breakfast here with my young child. I was so glad for the nice covered outdoor seating. Between the lawn games and the fence around the seating area so I knew he was safe from cars, I could relax and let the kid have some fun too. While we aren't eating indoors due to the pandemic right now, the indoor area looked very nice as well with couches and plants to make it cozy. The staff was super friendly and kind to my kid, too. They food came out super fast and was delicious. We will definitely be coming back!!!

This Mcclain’s is a fast paced environment and lots of people love to come here for a spot to enjoy coffee or a meal. The staff are very kind and helpful! There are times that the noise levels get loud mixed with the music (so if you’re looking for a quiet place to work/study, just bring some headphones!) It is also a little chilly inside so bring a jacket! If you are looking for a place to meet friends and enjoy some pastries then this is a great option for you! Their coffee is superb though their add ins are a little expensive BUT it’s because most things are made in house (flavor wise I’ve heard, don’t shoot the messenger if I’m wrong).

I hosted a baby shower for my sister-in-law in their event space, The Suite. The space is decorated and furnished so well that I didn’t need to do much to make the room look cute for the shower. The event manager, Aubrey, was so incredibly helpful all throughout the process. She gave me great suggestions on room set-up, menu items, etc. and I felt really confident going into the event that it was going to be great. All the guests were impressed with the space, food, and drinks. I couldn’t have asked for a better venue for the baby shower and felt that the pricing was very reasonable, especially compared to other local options. I highly recommend The Suite and working with Aubrey! Thanks to the team for a great day.

We were driving through KC, and decided to try to find some good pastries to take for Thanksgiving with our family. This place looked decent so we wanted to give it a try. We arrived at 9am on a Tuesday. First, the pastry selection was pretty limited. And then second, they were already out of 1/3 of their selections. Seems like pretty bad service if you can't even stay stocked past 9 am on a weekday. I even asked the girl behind the counter about why they were out so early. And she seemed pretty disinterested and "oh well" about it. We left and went somewhere else.

We hosted a bridal shower for my sister at the Suite at Shawnee. The staff was knowledgeable and responsive to our needs; the food was fantastic (the fruit was so fresh!); and, the space was beautifully decorated. If you're considering hosting an event, I would highly recommend McLain's!

This is a perfect place to take young kids when you want to hang out on a nice day and drink your coffee. There's a really cute outdoor area to sit. You should definitely come for the baked goods! The cupcakes themselves are so Instagram-able!

Nice for breakfast with a modern decor, taking a mechanic's garage covering the top of the week walls with wooden slats, stainless steel, and bright lights utilizing the garage doors for sunlight. Don't bother with the petite cupcakes. McClain's has reduced the cupcakes, which are deceivingly so small, not even half an ounce (almost like a thimble sideways!) Best pastries are the cinnamon rolls and cookies with cream icing.

Love the atmosphere and service. The chicken Mac and cheese was great. Cupcake was very dry to the point of not edible though which was sad because it was beautiful.

Loved the patio and brunch atmosphere. Food came out quick, but the drink took a bit longer. No fault to the staff, we went on a Saturday afternoon so the wait was expected. I loved the breakfast burrito I got, and the Danish was delicious. It was also a nice surprise to be able to get Shatto milk, a KC classic. The bacon was awesome as well.

Ideal place for a delicious and healthy (or more hearty) lunch and dessert! I was blown away. Their selection is perfect and their bakery is outstanding. The people who work here are so nice and helpful, and the decor is great as well. It smells amazing as soon as you walk in the door- always a good sign. And it’s really affordable! $40 for three meals plus desserts and drinks. I had the primavera cauliflower bowl and it was outstanding. Such fresh ingredients, artful presentation (this is a walk-up casual cafe, and they obviously hired top of the line chefs that you usually only find in pricier establishments), and a great combination of flavors. I also loved the bowl they served it in- very pleasing to the eye. I had a bite of my mom’s grilled cheese which was also delicious. And the desserts! I had a mini carrot cupcake and the chocolate ganache cake bite. Both were outstanding and I can’t wait to visit again!

I really enjoyed my time here. The ladies at the counter were kind and quick to help as well as answer questions I had. They made me feel very welcomed as a first timer. The club sandwich and fries were fresh and tasty. I thought the seasoning on the fries was superb. My market late was just right with sweetness and the coffee flavor will came through well. I was given a small little cookie to try as a first timer, and it was such a nice little treat. The icing was great and the cookie's flavor combined with texture was something I really enjoyed. The atmosphere was wonderful and I enjoyed reading my book there. The outside patio is great.

I was pleasantly surprised at how fast it was to get our coffee and breakfast considering how busy they were on a Saturday morning. Their customer service was out of this world. Their play area for children in the confined porch area was very nice for families with toddlers. They also have free water and sparkling water while dining inside. There were so many pastry, cookie, and dessert options. The seating was nice and distanced nicely for comfort, no bumping into other peoples seats. I will absolutely frequent this place!

First time visiting here and I have to say it was very pleasant. Many different coffee drinks, adult beverages like mimosas, pastries, and more were all on offer. The staff was welcoming and the food was tasty and fresh. I'll be coming back to try more as it would be impossible to sample everything the have in one visit. I had the smothered burrito with avocado and corn salsa. 10/10.

Great service, great staff. I ordered the chicken bacon sandwich for lunch. I was a little bit early before lunch was being served but they accommodated me. I was pretty disappointed in the flavor of the chicken. Tasted extremely bland. The sandwich itself was creative with bacon and cheese and ciabatta bread however the chicken had no flavor at all. Coffee was good. I've had pastries at this place before that were wonderful too.

This was our first visit, but it definitely won't be our last! The CBS and salad was perfect! The Cuban and chips was fantastic! The Christmas cookies were divine!

I met a friend for brunch here today. It was my first time here and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a lavender honey latte and a pecan sticky bun while I waited for my friend, since I arrived early. The latte had a perfect balance of flavor and the sticky bun was one of the best pastries I’ve had in a long time. Later, I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was flavorful and the biscuits were perfect. We sat outside, which is a really nice space. I would absolutely come back here again!

Went there for the first time today on this beautiful October day with my sister, nephew and his wife and daughter. Hung out on the patio. Played giant kings and connect four with my great niece! More fun than a barrel of monkeys! Good food, drinks and awesome service! Great memory making day!

Sway coffee is pretty good. There are a couple of better roasts in KC, but not many. I'm certainly never upset at having their Guatemala in front of me. What really sets McLain's apart is two things. 1) Their staff is really cool. 2) They have THE BEST patio for a coffee shop I've ever been to. With the pandemic raging, it's really nice to be able to enjoy a cup of coffee outside, where transmission rates are a fraction of inside. I drive by maybe a dozen other coffee shops to go here.
