Truly bad food. A deconstructed ceasar salad (with the ingredients stacked on top of each other see photo .. We had to cut the salad leaves and the pieces of bacon), the starter was hummus and olives (but the hummus never saw the tahini...), gourmet burger was really soggy and made from frozen. Staff did not bother once asking if we liked the food, nor if we were ok, that's why I decided to post here. Avoid the place if you want to eat. The place is quite nice for drinks, a relaxed environment, but don't call it gastro pub please....

I remember driving into Sheffield for years and years thinking how nice this pub looked as I drove past and one day I'd like to visit it. Well after about 30 years that day finally came on my birthday this year. We were in the area and thought what the hell and went to the Waggon. It's a lovely pub inside and out, really nice layout, great ales to choose from. Left the bar, went around the corner and there's a roaring log fire. Bonus! And the staff actually tended to it. And just when I thought it couldn't get better, we chose to eat bar snacks. Talloy chips, pork jowls and Henderson's onion rings. Oh my god they were so good, really filling and incredible value for money. It's a great bar and I cannot wait to go back again.

I wanted to visit a few times before leaving a review as I hoped my first visit was a one off. After our last visit, it’s clear that they really like to over cook the food. The breads are rock hard, the onion rings are black, and the chicken is tough. It seems to be the intention of the kitchen to cook everything to the very last minute. It’s a shame as the food would be lovely if it wasn’t so overly cooked. We’ll avoid in future.

Great menu ideas with poor execution. On the two times I've visited the food has never been as good as it sounds, or as the high price would suggest. Lovely atmosphere inside most of the time, but for the price I would expect quicker service (not a 1 hour wait between courses like I had last time) with well-seasoned and fairly portioned food (the tiniest bit of gravy on the pie, a stingy scoop of ice cream with the brownie). It's really disappointing, the ideas and the atmosphere are there but the service and food are both unsatisfactory.

Sandwiches dry as a bone, none of plates marked for vegetarians, very last century, baby changing is confined to the end which thet close off for Wakes, I didn't mind so much but I could see a couple of mothers feeling uncomfortable about walking through the middle of the Wake so I reassured them it was fine. Oh and now I know where Ricky Road gets its name from, would make a great hammer 😆

Went for a Sunday Roast, good service, good food. Not necessarily the cheapest place but is good value for money. Left feeling full. It has Vegan Sunday Roast options which is rare. Right next to a lovely park for a stroll too which is great.

Love this pub.. part of the Brew Co, True North chain.. open at half nine (a.m.) pop in for a bacon roll and a breakfast pint🍺😁 the bacon is fab!! They just recently had an extension done, edges into the park.. looks ace!! All the usuals... great team , cracking beer, sound grub, cannot fault it 👍👍.

Really disappointing experience yesterday unfortunately. Entered the pub from the car park and sat down at one of the many empty tables on the road side of lower level, to be quickly ‘told off’ and sent to the check in point. Then we got sat in the far corner at a very small table despite lots of tables being free in the main and area. We ordered dinner and drinks which was fine. Our Sunday lunches arrived very quickly before the kids burgers, which we had to wait c5 minutes for. And drinks arrived after all dinners which was a shame. Quality of the food was ok, except spare Yorkshire puddings we’d ordered for the kids were COLD and very oily. The biggest disappointment was the kids burgers though, which turned up and were TINY. The burgers were no more than 6/7cm in width and the bread bun had been cut into quarters (two of the sides of the bun had been straight cut with a knife). We checked with the lady who’d served us (who was excellent) if those sizes were normal - she checked and apparently they were. I’d hope that we weren’t mislead, but if the portion size for kids burgers is as served, maybe a note on the menu stating toddler size might have stopped us ordering it for our 10 year old! Won’t be rushing back as felt massively underwhelmed by our visit.

Could be such a better vibe if they cared. Never the best of visits just an ok pub in a great location. Edit: for more info... We were recently in on Christmas eve and your staff were loudly commenting ahead of closing "that they have a Christmas to go to as well and don't want to be stuck here" would be a laugh if it was a bit more sarcastic and smiley thank serious I guess. Another time we were told we shut soon before making an order as though we shouldn't be there near the end of the day.

Thank you to Waggon and Horses for their excellent hospitality during our niece's christening, we enjoyed the experience so much seven of us came back for dinner and drinks in the evening. The beer selection was fantastic, the food was great and the service was outstanding. Highly recommended!

Squeezed us in when we hadn't booked which was great. Food came quite quickly which good. Warm and tasty. Service was engaging. Two children's parties were running so you could say it is definitely kid friendly! Dogs around as well which was fine by us!

Our dining experience for five, including my mom in a wheelchair with rare dementia, was exceptional. The staff’s outstanding service, particularly in accommodating my mom’s needs, made the meal enjoyable. The food was not only delicious but also fresh. We had a wonderful time, and we’ll certainly be back for another satisfying meal. Thank you 🙏🏼

As usual the food and atmosphere at the waggon and horses was fabulous for our Christmas meal with mates. Ellen went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and made planning the whole thing a dream. We’ll be back next year,

We had my brother's wake here in December 2022. Cant thank the staff enough. Communication for organising what we wanted was great. Staff were sympathetic, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and plentiful in a good space for around 70 people.

Drove past the place and thought we have to come in! The outside is very cute. The inside did not disappoint either and the food was lovely. Cheers 🍻

We used the outdoor cafe area, rather than the pub. Had a good coffee, milkshakes, and smoothies out facing the park. Would happily come back :) Friendly staff were preparing the drinks outside and open for a chat... Which made the service a bit slow. The menu looks extensive and looking forward to come back for lunch soon!

Staff very friendly. Busy so quite noisy. Food left alot to be desired, as a pub would recommend but maybe not have a meal, not a huge choice if you don't want pizza, wouldn't hurry to go back.

We chose the Waggon and Horses as the venue for the wake following our dad's funeral. We really can't fault our experience. Ellen and the team were so accommodating, flexible and supportive right from the start. We had half the pub for our sole use, with our own toilets. The room and the toilets were clean and the room had a cosy feel yet easily accommodated a large number of guests. The cold buffet looked and tasted great. We were looked after really well at what was a very difficult time.

I had a vegan pizza and my fellow dinner had a steak pie. Both delicious. Lovely to see a mix of family, some playing the pubs game and on people with well behaved dogs. Would definitely go again.

Our favourite place to meet for Sunday lunch. The staff are fantastic. We usually visit in a large group with small children which can be quite hectic but the staff are always so patient and accommodating with us! Nothing seems too much! The food is always delicious, we love the nut roast. The kids menu has lots of options and is great value - the ice cream with an endless list of toppings is a firm favourite. We have tried lots of different pubs in Sheffield for Sunday lunch but we always end up back at The Wagon and Horses! ':

Only had a half of Blue Moon and didn't have any food or use the facilities, so couldn't really give it 5 stars but the place had plenty of parking, was very cosy and welcoming and clean. I was served quickly and courteously, and got a nice slice of orange in my beer!

Very good would recommend. Visited NYD evening. We were looked after from start to finish brilliantly. We were group of 6 plus baby. The gentleman who was hosting didn't hesitate in setting us up a table in a quieter section of the pub. Service was excellent throughout. The food was very good, everyone enjoyed it. Thank you to the staff who served us. Tough times with many pubs/restaurants short staffed or closed, on this occasion all the staff were brilliant. Happy New Year. It won't be our only visit this year. Thank you.

Just been in without a booking was greeted warmly , promptly seated ( 2 and a pram) drink order was taken by the host who seated us. I had the steak pie, wife had the rump roast. All food was GREAT, skin on fries , mash and mushy peas couldn't be faulted gravy was dark and rich. Staff were super friendly but not generic . I am not just coming back I am buying shares.

We chose the W&H as the menu catered for all of us. Unfortunately when we came to order here was very limited vegan options and the one we chose only had three servings available. When a menu claims to have vegan and vegetarian options available, it's very disappointing to not be catered for when you arrive for lunch. The one meat option we ordered was also not available. What we eventually ate was ok, but it wasn't what we wanted or expected. Pretty poor really. I rated a three as the waiter was nice, apologetic and possibly a bit embarrassed by having to keep returning to our table with bad news.

Great food and great service. Had a table for 13 and everything was managed perfectly. Food was excellent, well cooked and delish, trio of beef with roast veg finished off with a sticky toffee pudding, what more could you ask for. Kids menu was perfect for little ones. We don't live local but look forward to returning next time we are visiting family in Sheffield
