Sheffield Central Library is located in the heart of Sheffield City Centre. The place is quite and is spacious. It is offer free Wi-Fi service if you come with your equipment. So, you can spent more than the normal PC booking time. It offers range of books and references. They do organise different activities, such as enterprise workshops and learning basic skills. It is your one stop learning, studying and stationery stop. Staff is always helpful. The problem is with no toilet facilities. Food is not allowed. Don't surprise if you see someone in the library is sleeping! On average the service is good. When compared with other photocopies services, the central library is cheaper. It is a place to read, research and study.

Library filled with books, spaces to read, colour with little ones or do quiet work. Staff are friendly and helpful. There are a few computers in the main Library. I'm disappointed that the Libby app isn't working properly. I hope its resolved soon or an alternative is found.

Its a big Central library. Many different parts Just be sure to check what times each part is open. Loads information that's not on line. And more fiction than you could read in a lifetime. Also has an art gallery on the top floor. Some good stuff,as well as some modern " fake art." Also a cafe

Love the children's library that is nice and calm and has plenty of new books and some toys too. There's a library group with singing for toddlers too that is worth checking out if you have little ones. The adult library could do with freshening up but I don't think it will be there for much longer unfortunately.

The reference library is a great place to sit quietly and study, and the staff were very helpful in setting me up with a card for the lending library. Not only that, they went out of their way to ask if there were any specific books I wanted, and then when they didn't have them, ordered the entire rest of the series to be bought by the library for me to read!

Sheffield Central Library is a wonderful place, either to take out books, or to use the internet. There's plenty of places to sit quietly and read. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Graves Building, which houses the Library us a lovely Art Deco structure from the 20C.

Great library, very large and plenty of quiet rooms to sit in. There is such a great range of books here, and even if the book I want is not available, their reserving service is super quick and easy. Librarians are always happy to help too, thanks a lot.

The staff are very helpful here. I listened to one of the staff members take her time to talk to an elderly and frail man who was obviously lonely and needed someone to talk to. The family research centre on the third floor is great too.

Pretty old fashioned. Needs modernising. It reminded me of what libraries were like 20 years ago.

Love this place. Good selection of books and a very comfortable reading room (on the left as you enter the building). Regular groups for creative writing, poetry, etc along with talks and art exhibitions in the gallery upstairs. Claire who runs the writing and poetry groups is extremely welcoming to all. A library card also allows you to borrow from several branch libraries around the city.

A lot of books to choose from. Other things available too such as computers for online research, magazines and newspapers. Also has a modern boardgame collection that you can use in the reading room if you have a library card.

I really enjoyed my visit here. Was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was for me to become a member compared to other libraries. I was a visitor from Derby who needed an hour to get some work done before heading off to enjoy Meadowhall. This is a really nice space the staff I encountered were friendly and the computer area was lovely. My 1 nibble is that compared to my library card payments are not accepted and I really feel like this should be taken onboard. Overall fantastic visit and will now be part of my routine every time I visit

I like the fact thatthe library provides a quiet space for people who want to study. Plus, newspapers in other than English such as Arabic which reflects the diversity of Sheffield. In addition, the kids section is down stairs & it needs to reach the Arabic Japanese...etc weekend schools & invite their students & offer enough books in other than English too. Many thanks for the wonderful staff

This is a fantastic library with plenty of choice and helpful staff. It has a good layout with enough places to sit. As with all Sheffield libraries, books can be reserved online with your library card or with the help of a librarian and can be collected at a library of your choice. The self-service machines are super easy to use without any issues. It's super easy to get to via public transport as it's conveniently located right next to Arundel Gate where many busses stop and it's only a 5 minute walk from Castle Square tram stop and a 7 minute walk from Sheffield train station. At the time of writing this (01.06.23) there's some building work taking place but the library is still fully open and accessible.

The Central Library is a large and well-stocked library with a wide variety of books, magazines, and other materials. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the library offers a variety of resources, such as computers, study spaces...

Totally unimpressed. Wanted a book on Sheffield steelworks, the corner stone of Sheffield and one book to be found under the heading "Soaps". The only Sheffield industry books are on the top floor which is only open 2 days per week. Rubbish experience with totally unhelpful staff.

Visited the library yesterday. It was large and spacious. However the reading table and chairs were so low and not ergonomic. Not good especially for tall persons. You have to bend a lot more forward in order to write. The reading chair backrest were too low and not supporting the back .If you try to sit upright, you realise the back rest is low beneath the level of the mid back. If I read there for one week, I will surely develop a back pain. A lot of things need changing as they are old. The toilet on the 3d floor is old as well. It needs more modernising and color . The should also be signpost like 'pls remain quiet , this is a library'. Some people just make loud conversations without considering others. Staff were helpful and nice.

My daughters like the children section, they have loads of books and provide each new registered child with a bag with small cartoon books. Only one issue with the pram entrance which is not nice and they should reconsider developing it.

In April last year I came in to research some Sheffield history and geography. I was writing a novel that began in Sheffield in 1921. Never having even visited the city, I was in need of some help. The staff were wonderfully knowledgeable and endlessly helpful. The task is not finished and I'm looking forward to returning.
