I feel kinda bad for writing this review because the owner was nice but the cake was just super disappointing. I ordered a mango cream cake and it looked like something I could’ve made at home myself. The cake literally has 1 single grape and 1 raspberry sliced in 3 pieces along with some pomelo as decoration. It looked very cheaply made for the price which was 55 dollars or 50 cash for 7 inch cake. The pricing is similar to other patisseries like duo patisserie or cho Kwok lat but the look and taste doesn’t compare at all. I was hoping the cake would taste a lot better than it looks so I could feel better about it. It tastes like a mango cake from those cheaper Chinese bakeries which I do like but those cakes costs a lot less. The packaging also looked very cheap. I was kind of embarrassed to show the cake to my family to be honest. I was just very surprised by what I got since this place has pretty good reviews.

April 2022 4.5★ A small bakery / cafe with a seating area for a few and a patio to boost. This place has some very good mini cakes at $8.90 each. The Earle Gray cake was good, you can taste it. Paired with a sweet tangy orange flavor, it complements the Earle Gray and chocolate. The Green Tea red bean was nice. Tasted just like you expect, though it was nice and fluffy with surprising crisp bottom texture. If your not into cakes, their crispy egg tarts at 4pcs/$15 are amazing. Nice crispy base and an egg custard that isn't too sweet. Though it looks like Portuguese style, it's not. A definite must try. The bakery also serves sandwiches for lunch and I'm sure they are just as good as everything else. Worth checking out. Parking available.

This place has a lot to offer! Walked in on Wednesday, late morning. There was only a few mini cakes available to order, so I’m giving the benefit of the doubt that it might have still been early, which is the first star off. I tried the lime yogurt cheese cake and flavours were all on point. Nice hit of citrus flavour from the lime and the yogurt cheese was the perfect soft creamy texture. The cake inside was very nice, soft and moist. I know you pay for amazing quality and you totally get that from jw, but almost $10 for one mini cake is quite steep and the second star off. I think I have even bought individual cake slices which have the perecption of being bigger to me for about $8 I would totally say that this is a must try, but it is great for that bucket list to be crossed off type of spot to at least say you had these awesome cakes! Would totally try their whole cakes for a special occasion. They also have sandwiches for that lunch time meal also The place is has a decent amount of seating and a very sleek looking black interior and modern lighting Service was decent too! Very patient while I made my choice for my sweet tooth craving. Great job! Follow me on IG @thirst_and_taste for better pics, vids and more amazing content

If you want to enjoy a nice cup of hand drip coffee or iced coffee, you may want to stop by this nice cozy JW Patisserie place. We drove around the Richmond Hill area this afternoon looking for a new dessert place to try and drove by this place. Drip coffee was perfectly made and fully extracted the coffee favour and personally I love more acidic based coffee and I tried Isabella and love it. My wife tried the iced coffee which the ice cube was also made with real coffee, so up to the last sip, the coffee still retain the best favour without being diluted, we can tell chef JW really cares about the customer experience on her food and drink. The matcha red bean sponge cake was really good, highly recommended even I like more citrus / acidic favour dessert, I also enjoy this matcha sponge cake. Will come again.

Early orange chocolate cake is sour and slightly bitten. The matcha red bean cake is fine. I think they are overprice as they cost $18 even with the cash discount given the taste is average. The nearby cake shops have reasonable price ranges with better quality and taste.

A wonderful wondeful patisserie and cafe. Lots of nice spots to sit with full natural light. The patisserie was delicious and wonderful, and the prices for the food and the drinks are more than reasonable. I'll definitely be returning. Janice was very kind as well

Bought the Mango Mousse and Lime Yogurt individual sized cakes @jw_patisserie. Both favours are light and delicious. Perfect level of sweetness. I also got a hand drip Ethiopia (natural) hand drip coffee for take out and it was a fantastic touch for the day. Chef Janice is very friendly and had a great chat in my brief visit. Definitely will revisit.

There are thousands of chefs making hundreds of cakes. Why JW? Because besides tasty cakes, the chef is special. In this instant-gratification world, sometimes we have to slow down and appreciate the heart put into these edible yummy things. It wasn't just a cake to me :) Thank you, Janice, for sharing your heart with us. p.s. I didn't get yelled at so mom must've liked them. I personally love the earl grey and the matcha. The matcha tastes exactly like the quality I had in Daikanyama many years ago :) Update Nov 2023. Ordered a chestnut cake with 0 expectation. Got home and cut. Mom said this is the real one she had 60 years ago it's how it's supposed to be done. That's why she said she loves it and I never liked. Now I see and now I do. Thanks again, Janice.

Great place for lunch. She takes a lot of care in the making of your meal, and you can taste it. She seems to be the type who needs to make something the right way, and takes pride in it. All food is very fresh, and delicious. Coffee is great...I've been staying strong not trying the sweets...but they look so good I will treat myself next time. A nice gem in the neighborhood.

I ordered the cake the day of, and Janice was very helpful in making this cake last minute. The cake exceeded our expectations, especially given the short time frame. It was not only fresh and delicious, but there was an abundance of strawberries in the filling. Perfect balance between the cake and cream, everyone loved it, including our cat.

We had a mini Earl Grey Mandarin Mousse Cake today, with a cup of Latte and a cup of the hand drip El Salvador coffee. I'm highly recommend their mini cakes, delicious with full of aroma, favour and details you can discover on each mini gem. Chef Janice made a good suggestion for the choice of the hand drip coffee bean - El Salvador. The after taste is full of citrus favour prolonged in my mouth. Their coffee (both hand drip & espresso based) are inexpensive. When you are around Richmond Hill area, there is a must-go coffee break area.

Ordered the entire spread of individual sized cakes. All flavours were really strong and cakes were light and delicious. Owner is very personal and had a great chat in my brief visit. Looking forward to return to dine in person to try the rest of the menu

This is my new go to place for desserts and cakes!! I got the strawberry mousse cake and some other desserts that were made so beautifully with such perfection. The cake was so delicious that even my mom --who is not too big on sweets-- was a huge fan! It is the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness that makes it so refreshing and yummy! Thanks JW Patisserie! I will definitely be coming again for future celebration cakes or just to fulfill my sweet tooth. 😋

Have ordered the mango and chestnut mousse log from JW now, and both cakes were delicious! The flavours were on point and not too sweet. Janice was pleasant to deal with and very dedicated to her profession. Thank you for providing great desserts!

I bought a birthday cake for my SO last minute and Janice was very accommodating and friendly. The cake was beautiful. And tasted even better. I usually do not like cake but the Earl Grey chocolate mousse cake was so so so good. I definitely will be back.
