Absolute blessing to have a place like this near home. Great running, biking, and hiking trails to enjoy. We play disc golf on both of the really well-maintained courses as well. The biggest reason I like living where we do is this park.

The nature center was awesome. We met a snapping turtle on the trail! Of course we had to hit the beach too. The beach was clean and all facilities were running and well kept. Can't wait to do the Giant waterslide next time.

Couldn't recommend more! I'd say this beats most state parks in terms of things to do, up keep, and actual landscape. They do a great job keeping the park clean and manicured where it needs to be. Trails are maintained enough to keep ticks off the legs.

Excellent Metro park. Very large equipped with almost all facilities. Beautiful scenic lake beaches, hollyball grounds, baseball, golf course, sweeming area, boating, kayaking, nice walking as well as cycling trails, many picnic shades, camping as well RV areas..icecream shop, boating deck all these and many facilities available. Restroom facilities are available across the park. One can spend entire day with families and friends.

I really enjoy this park! Plenty of trails, wildlife, wildflowers and beautiful nature galore. There are 2 beautiful beaches with concession stands, restrooms and warm showers too! It's always nice to shower off after swimming, even though the water is actually really clean. The playground is huge, there are kayak, paddle board and boat rentals. Or you can bring your own boat. Check for specific size regulations. There are County Sheriffs always patrolling which is very good! I reported a toddler walking around with no parents on site and they immediately ran after him! It's a shame people litter and leave their trash behind though! I'm the crazy lady that walks around picking up trash so the animals don't eat it and choke or get sick. Overall it's a wonderful place to walk, bike, swim, play, BBQ, relax or walk your dog. Just no dogs on the beach or certain zones.

There's so many fun things to do! Kayaking, camping, walks through nature, disc golf, fishing, and so much more. There's plenty of great events through the nature center. I highly advise checking them out!

Been coming here for years. Last 3 years I’ve bought the Year pass and it’s always worth it. Park is always clean and well kept. Police frequently patrolling maintaining safety and security at the park ❤️Always a friendly and positive reaction, and quite helpful people. I have been coming here for my birthday the last 3 years as well to relax and it’s always nice. My favorite spot here is where the two lakes converge in the damn under the bridge

What can I say other than, "WOW." A very impressive, large and beautiful metropark filled with so many activities to do. Go swim, kayak, canoe, or boat out on the lake, Go hike or mountain bike around the trails, or go and test your skills on the disc golf course. Such a great place whether you're by yourself or with your family. A ton of birds, chipmunks, squirrels and more. Also, a great place to go fishing! By far, this has been my favorite metropark I've been to in Michigan. Amazing!

I went on the Osprey trail. Wonderful walk with shortcuts in case you get tired. Saw some turkeys and a lot of trout lily. I’ve never been disappointed coming to Stony Creek.

    - Fantastic Metropark for everyone to enjoy. - well maintained play areas and structures for kids - clean beach areas, good water sports equipment with reasonable rates and long biking and walking trails through the trees - highly recommended park in the southeast Michigan area!

A nice place to visit on a sunny day. Many trails for walking, cycling. Great place for swimming and canoeing. On a clear day, it is an amazing place to watch sunset. Lot of benches and areas for family outing, barbeque. Kids will love to play around here. An enjoyable place.

Staff at the golf course is super friendly. The course itself is challenging and in great shape, at least the Fairways and greens are. Teeming grounds need some TLC and pace of play was at snail pace.

My home away from home. Been going to Stony for well over a decade now. Love the scenery and vibe. Love kayaking there, walking my dog, Biking and going on the trails. It's maintained and kept up very well. Every season has it's perks at Stony. The colors are breathtaking in the fall. Such a peaceful place to go to. Great place for photography too.

Went on the hottest day it was 40 degrees celcius to Eastwood beach. It was fairly busy. Family beach, organized, has change rooms but showers only have cold water and no privacy in change stalls. Also toilets reeked so bad. Lake water itself was warm and shallow. The lake bed is grainy sand. Lots of kayaks and paddles on the lake too. Overall a decent day out with the kids.

This is my go-to beach to go swimming! I like to dive and collect as many shells as I can, and I've found many cool things in the water. This place can be a bit gross sometimes though. Last time I went, I saw a used (?) tampon in the water and a washed up dead fish (like 8 inches long) on the shore. The bathrooms can smell and look a bit nasty but they're public bathrooms, so what can you really expect? There are 2 beaches, Eastwood and Baypoint. Eastwood is the more popular one, and usually has more people as opposed to Baypoint. Eastwood is also bigger and has more features, like the playground, giant waterslide, and bigger restroom/gazebo area. But don't let that deter you from Baypoint! Baypoint is nicer if you want a more calm, secluded place to relax, swim and/or soak up the sun. I would definitely reccomend this place for swimming, and the nature around it looks like it would make for good walks/bike rides.

Whatever you do, do not camp at Ridgewood campground. There is absolutely zero regulation. The "site" next to me had 4 tents, multiple cars that they parked in between everyone else's sites. They even put up an entire volleyball net on their site that went across the road to get out. Which was left up the entire weekend also with nothing said to them. As if none of that is bad enough, you're " allowed 1 tent , 6 ppl per site" they had 25!! 25 people!! Not visiting for the day, actually there staying. There is no electricity so they all move their chairs to the bathroom water spicket to use the electricity and sit there making it impossible for anyone to get water. What was a nice spacious site and could have been awesome had they actually had an officer enforcing rules turned into a horrible weekend that consisted of us sitting in a 5 foot section of our site trying not to get hit by volleyballs and repeatedly asking them to get off of our site. ( I don't mean the site line, but literally by our fire pit and tent) the camp store girl was super nice and the ONLY plus in this horrendous campground.

There's soo much more to Stoney than just lounging around at the beach. Dont get me wrong, its fun to have a beach day, but the hiking/biking, kayaking and nature observing really adds to the value of this metropark. I dont think most visitors know how expansive this metropark is, especially around the nature center trails. Its an awesome place to get away from the crowds, and enjoy the natural surroundings. FYI - summers are always crowded, so be prepared to wait, especially if they have a cap on visitors which happened during the pandemic. Otherwise its a great place to spend a day, and our family/friends have enjoyed going here for years!

My family and I love this park! My kids and I have used the camping and beach, both are well maintained and family friendly. I run the trails on the west side of the park which are also well maintained and not overcrowded.

Great park! It is very large, has beach access, and well kept playgrounds. The only cons is that we couldn't find where we needed to go, and couldn't find staff members to ask for help. More maps posted throughout the park would be helpful. But next time we will ask for a map upon entry. Still highly recommended.

Love the disc golf here. Two 18 hole courses both high quality. Can be $3 to play or free if the booth is closed

  • 4/5 Ashesh G. 4 years ago on Google
Great place to hang out with friends (or spend a quiet evening by yourself) during the weekend. Lots of options to be on the water (kayak, canoe, paddle boat, row boat, etc.). Rates are reasonable, and the guys at the counter are friendly and helpful. Gets crowded during the peak hours especially during weekend, especially the picnic areas and beach.

  • 5/5 Kathleen Annel C. 4 years ago on Google
Husband and I went to Stony Creek Metropark last weekend primarily to fish and we were not disappointed. We have a metropark annual pass (the $35 per vehicle) so we just got through smoothly. The place is surprisingly very big and has lots of parking spaces. Haven't checked their restrooms but it looked decent from outside. In addition to lakes, they have picnic grounds and campsites so we'll probably go here to camp. You can't swim on the lakes though. Conveniently near to Detroit so it's a plus. They also have badminton nets and a disc golf course so people can do some sweating. And of course, bike trails. It's also relatively clean, we didn't see much trash. We'll definitely go back.

I didn't realize how lucky I was growing up in Shelby Township with Stoney Creek Metro park and Bloomer State Park within 3 miles of my home , Yates cider mill in the middle . How lucky I was ! I remember Stoney creek in the summer.. Busses pulling in to the parking lot . Black kids jumping off the bus steps and running towards the beach and the water . Getting hot dogs a coke and chips . It was years later that I realized that was their once a year visit to my beautiful park , the park I could visit every day......

One of the largest and best parks in the region with something for everyone. I especially like hiking here as there are several distinct trail areas. They are currently (as of December 2020) developing new trails and decommissioning others, so it will be cool to see the changes in the months and years ahead.
