I
have
been
to
Kyoto
twice
in
the
past
(
stayed
in
a
regular
international
hostel
)
but,
this
time
I
wanted
to
experience
something
more
traditional
and
connect
with
the
local
neighborhood
so
I
decided
to
stay
in
a
Machiya
Apartment.
We
arrived
during
mid
day
(
summer
time
and
very
hot
)
and
when
we
entered
the
place,
we
were
warmly
welcomed
by
the
staff
and
also
greeted
by
a
well
cool
air
conditioned
room
!!
That’s
what
you
need
after
a
long
day
of
traveling
in
summer!
We
particularly
chose
this
type
of
Machiya
Apartment
because,
we
both
had
the
options
to
use
modern
style
beds
and
also
Japanese
style
futons
(
which
are
actually
really
good
for
your
back
!
).
The
Japanese
futons
that
were
placed
on
the
first
floor
where
right
in
front
of
the
beautiful
indoor
garden
!
This
view
of
the
garden
during
the
night
was
breathtaking!
Just
like
a
scene
from
a
movie
!!
We
were
also
really
thrilled
that
we
had
a
huge
fully
equipped
kitchen
that
allowed
us
to
save
money
by
buying
groceries
and
cooking
right
here.
If
your
coming
in
large
groups,
trust
me,
you
wanna
have
a
kitchen
!
Finally,
the
staff
on
sight
that
can
speak
English,
Spanish
and
Japanese,
gave
a
us
amazing
advices
on
where
to
visit
(
which
you
can’t
find
in
these
regular
travel
books!
)
