(Translated by Google) Yakuri Temple, the 85th temple in Shikoku. This time I went by car from the back approach without using a cable. Everyone is well stationed on the slope just before going down a slightly narrow winding road. I wonder if it's an unwritten rule 💦 The toll parking lot below was almost empty. Looking up, Mt. Goken. It is a great masterpiece. There is a pick-up master at the observatory. Yashima can be seen on the right and it becomes a picture. Some people were walking up from the bottom. And when you look up, there are people in Mt.

(Translated by Google) Shikoku Sacred Site No. 85 is a temple of the Shingon Buddhism Daikakuji sect. It is located on the 8th station of Mt. Goken, 375 meters above sea level, east of Yashima. From the summit, you can see Sanuki, Awa, and Bizen. Originally named Hachikokuji Temple, Kobo Daishi climbed this mountain before going to Tang to study and planted eight roasted chestnuts to foretell the success or failure of his quest to enter Tang. When I visited again after returning to Japan, the roasted chestnuts that should not have sprouted sprouted, so I changed the name to Yakuriji. In addition, there is a mountain trail that doubles as an approach, but if you are in a hurry, we recommend using the Yakuri Cable Car.

We really enjoyed riding to the top and getting to explore the top. I especially enjoyed how few people were around! Being from Tokyo, it is nice to enjoy these views, the cherry trees, and temples without the crowds. Make sure to walk out the see the view of the city. I wish we could’ve been there for sunset.

Pretty nice temple. A lot of the temples in the Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage are hard to access by transit. This one wasn’t so bad. We took a bus there from Takamatsu and, on the way, we stopped for udon at Udon Honjin Yamadaya (which I highly recommend). Then we caught the cable car up to the shrine. If you are a foreigner, be sure to bring your passport with you as the cost of the ticket is half price with it. Also, if you are a goshuin fan, they make a special goshuin book for the 88 temple pilgrimage that is very beautiful. It has a line drawing of each temple on the page opposite your goshuin stamp. We bought ours at a souvenir shop in Takamatsu before we went.

Very beautiful and large temple complex, very well kept by friendly and dedicated staff. Temple #85 of the pilgrimage route. Lots of beautiful buildings and statues, a soft smell of incense hanging in the air. A tranquil and spiritual place. Also an excellent view of Takamatsu.

The famous "5 sword mountain" temple as named by Kukai, this is an adventure in itself. Prepare to ride a cable car to the top of the mountain and enjoy this splendid temple.

It's a relatively large temple area which was really quiet and beautiful. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and the place was reasonably empty. There's a cable car you can take up to visit this area, otherwise you can drive here (which I did), where there's a parking area below for around 500yen.

It was really a relaxing experience. The way up with the cable car was fun and fast. But to walk up to the cable car station you should consider about 20min from the closest station. The temple itself was beautiful and there were not many people. The view over Takamatsu was also one of my favorites. Totally recommend it

It's temple where you didn't meet many non-asian tourists. The way there is by cable car or the walk. If you choose walk there is quite steep part (21%).
