Met a friend for lunch in Village at Shirlington. Copperwood Tavern was one of a handful of restaurants offering outdoor seating (& with heaters). The food & service (thanks, Jake!) were very good though my burger was a bit undercooked. Popcorn is served as a starter & the fried goat cheese with jalapeno honey was mind blowingly good!! Overall, a great experience.

I have eaten at a lot of places and breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Farm to table restaurants specializing in fresh local ingredients is my preference. I can say hands down that this is by far my most absolute favoritest😁 breakfast/brunch spot! 8 literally scheduled my next brunch while eating!! Customer service is amazing and the wait staff was very attentive! Tiffany was almost reading my mind😁 Above and beyond service and food was also above amazing. I spoke to the manager Giselle, and she stated that a lot of stuff is made in house. Kudos to Copperwood for maintaining exceptional service in the midst of this pandemic! Keep up the great work!!! See you again in 2weeks for my girls brunch!!

CopperWood is a farm-to-table restaurant with a seasonal menu… and they absolutely know what they are doing back in the kitchen. This was my first visit, and not only did I have the best cocktail I’ve ever tasted (Peach Julep with CopperWood small batch Bourbon), I was also blown away by every item they brought out from the corn bread to the Pork Chop. Service was fast and our waiter was excellent. I will be making an effort to taste a few items off of every seasonal menu!

This was my first time here and we just decided to get a bunch of things. We started with the venison meatballs, honey jalapeno goat cheese and tartar which were all delicious. That honey jalapeno sauce was amazing. For entrees we got the filet and the duck two ways. Both of which were also really good. I will say I enjoyed the duck breast more than the duck confit. The mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese are definitely must haves. We finished with the bread pudding. It had chocolate in it which I'm not the biggest fan of but it was still okay.

I was excited to visit this place since it’s surrounded by so many cool places in Shirlington. The two star rating is just for the biscuit board menu item. There seemed to be too much fat in the recipe and the biscuits were dense, oily, and dark with a bitter taste. The dough also seemed overworked because the biscuits were not light and fluffy; they were tough and stringy. Not sure how the rest of the menu is but the biscuits were not pleasurable.

Good selection of house beers. The food prices are a bit on the higher side though some dishes are quite tasty. The Salmon is good, Chicken is okay as well. The sides especially the Brussel Sprouts and Asparagus are really good! Best to make reservations in advance or get there really early if you want patio seating. We had to wait 40 minutes on a Wednesday evening for the latter, though the food and beer overall made up for it.

We enjoyed this place. We had a couple drinks and the chocolate cake. The cake seemed like it was thawed out. Decor was nice. Good local beer selection. I would recommend this place. UPDATE: We went back for dessert. We tried the apple pie, chocolate Mousse with brownie, and banana split. They were all very good. UPDATE: We tried the chicken sandwich, salad, chili and baked brie. All were good. UPDATE 1/16/24: This time the food and menu are a little different. Prices seem higher. Happy hour no longer a good deal. Not impressed for the increased prices.

The food steals the show at this restaurant! I had the Brussels sprouts and the short rib appetizer, which were both phenomenal. The only thing that was a bit lackluster was the service. Even though it wasn’t particularly busy, our waiter was seldom there and we had to wait a while when we needed his services. But all in all, I am still excited to return soon!

I haven't enjoyed a dinner out as much as this one for a few months! Just delicious and a wonderful combination of tastes in my salmon dish. Their side of fries is just outstanding, still crispy after half an hour!

Overall: 2/5 Food: 1/5 We got the Pork Chop and Brown Ale Butter Chicken. I asked for medium rare on the pork chop, but it came out extremely underdone. Like blood red in the middle. Even the table sitting next to me laughed and commented that it would put some hair on my chest. I rarely send food back, but in this case I had ask for safety reasons. I should have taken a picture, but didn’t get the chance for this initial service. I had cut the pork chop in half when I realized how rare it was and they took it back into the kitchen, cooked both halves again, slathered it in additional barbecue sauce, and sent it back out to me. Even after recooking, it was still pretty underdone (photo attached) but I decided to just eat around the rare parts because I was quite hungry. The flavor was solid, but obviously the texture was off. The chicken had the opposite problem. It was dry, overcooked, and tasted a little old. The butter sauce was nice, but not anything to get too excited about beside serving the function of moistening the chicken. Not exactly impressive considering the generally positive reviews I’ve seen about this place. Service: 3.5/5 We were seated quickly and our waitress was kind, attentive, and reacted well when we asked to send back the pork chop. It would have been nice if they re-fired a new pork chop rather than just further cooking the one I had cut apart, but this isn’t a major qualm. Atmosphere: 4/5 The restaurant was rustic in a charming way, but also the kind of place that could get a little dingy and still fit the theme. It was relatively empty when we came in around 6:30 on a Saturday, but filled right up by around seven or 7:15.

We tried this restaurant for date night. I made reservations and I’m thankful I did. The restaurant was packed that evening. There’s parking available in the garages near by but can be hectic during the evening to find a parking spot. We had the deviled eggs appetizer, pork chop entree and salmon entree. The food was edible and no wow factor. The quinoa was crunchy which was pleasing to my taste buds but not my partner. I did like the deviled eggs had a decent amount of crab meat.

Quality food that come to you fresh and fast, a faculty that had enough comfort to make you want to stay a while and service that will make you want to come back. This was not my 1st brunch and won't be my last. Well done light brunch.

Brie board and Farmers salad amazing!! Cocktail “southern sparkler” delicious as well. Great location and beautiful ambiance, but I have only been here twice over the years and remember both times service and food arrival being terribly slow. Forgotten orders, up to 5 minutes for water and table popcorn. Even longer for food order. If you’re in a hurry maybe not the best place. Overall ambiance great and quality ingredients fantastic.

Very lively and loud, which was expected for a restaurant in Shirlington. Everything we had were good, nothing stood out. Except the fruits on the Brie board were very fresh. I did leave yearning for a bit more to eat tho.

I celebrated my birthday here with 13 of my friends. The food was great & the atmosphere good. Unfortunately, our server wasn't able to attend to a party our size. He had a helper but apparently they weren't communicating with one another. Overall, it was still a good time

Always a great experience, and today's visit was no different. I had the salmon salad, which came in a generous portion. Great selection of beers on tap. They also serve everyone free popcorn, which is a nice touch. Server was friendly and took great care of us!

I love this place and have been there many times as it is walking distance from where I live. The food is consistently good and I love that they have moonshine cocktails on the menu. I typically get the braised ribs grilled cheese with fries (perfect width and texture) or sometimes I substitute for a side of brussel sprouts. I have also had their Mac and cheese and most recently I tried a salad with grilled chicken (chicken cost extra) and the food was tasty as always. They also bring you a cup of popcorn to snack on until your food is ready. This is one of my favorite places in shirlington!

I met a friend here for brunch. The food was tasty, but the menu was limited. Everything came with potatoes, so between the two of us, I think we ended up with three or four servings. The staff was friendly but left dirty dishes on the table for way too long. The ambiance was nice, but it could be helped by light music. All that being said, if I was looking for classic American food, I would recommend it to a friend or I might come back if in the area.

EXCELLENT FOOD & SERVICE. Farm to table and many different meat options, farm & game. We tried the ice cream flight for dessert and it was delicious. Server was attentive and timely, but not overbearing. Reasonable prices for a nice, sit down meal. Great ambiance - a rustic cabin feel with great drink options. Highly recommend. Also dog friendly with outdoor patio!

Such a great restaurant in the heart of Shirlington with a log cabin atmosphere and complimentary popcorn! I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised with what my choices of favourites after having dinner here. To begin, they have a great menu and it was quite hard for us to choose items so we decided to share things. All 3 of us got a glass of wine and choose 4 apps; Goat cheese w/jalapeño honey, Mussels, Fried green tomatoes & crab deviled eggs. We also got the steak & Brussels salad as well as the chicken and Lamb "shank". Ended the evening with dessert which again, had a difficult time making a decision so we choose 3 LOL. Key lime, chocolate mousse & banana split all of which was in Mason jars and really cute. 🌸 Mussels: 10/10 sauce was perfect & would come back here just for this 🌸 Fried green tomats: 10/10 Perfectly done 🌸 Banana split dessert: 10/10 flavour is on point and easy to eat 🌸 Steak & Brussel salad: 10/10 everything was good & went well together 🌸 Key lime dessert: 10/10 refreshing & tasty 🌸 Chocolate mousse:9/10 compared to the other 2 desserts was just okay, would have again though and not as sweet 🌸 Goat cheese/jalapeño honey: 9/10 wish they were smaller little bites of cheese 🌸 Brown butter chicken: 9/10 good chicken dish 🌸 Crab deviled eggs: 8/10 Quality is good, but bacon was overwhelming the crab 🌸 Lamb shank: 7/10 wouldn't get it again, if you like Lamb meat/leg you'll probably like this but I didn't love it lol Overall I'll say copperwood is a 10/10 from the ambiance, service and overall food. I'll 100% be back for the apps/salads/drinks/desserts and probably try some different ala cart entrées next time! - DMV local guide & gremlin IG @ SpicyAivy

Brown butter chicken--very good Ribeye--pretty good Scallop and pork belly--good and bad Pork belly tasted reheated. Scallops were perfectly cooked. BlackBerry balsamic very nice. Good beer selection. Good service.

A third visit to Copperwood Tavern found me and a college friend enjoying a great dinner. Brunch, hands down, is the better menu. On this evening I had the surf & turf “special” of ribeye and shrimp. The server recommended ordering a side, so I did and I wanted to try the macaroni & cheese. It was more than enough food (took some home) and the macaroni & cheese was delicious. A star for sure. My friend raves about the brussels sprouts.

While there’s no parking at the restaurant, there are several parking garages nearby that don’t charge. It’s a comfortable environment that probably has a nightlife, although I went for lunch. The waiter was friendly so no issues. I had the farmers salad that satisfied me and wasn’t pricey. Overall a good deal.

This has been one of our best meals we have ever had. The service was outstanding with Jacob as our server and the food came out super fast and perfectly cooked. We had a question and the manager Giselle came out and was so amazing as well. They have an unbelievable team. The food was delicious. 2 We highly recomend this establishment. You will be missing out if you don't come here.

It was my first time experiencing this restaurant and it was okay. Food - pulled pork was drenched in barbecue sauce so it honestly wasn’t great. My boyfriend did like his burger though. We did like the chips though. Service- friendly and professional. Vibe - cabin, woods/outdoors and casual. If I were to go back I would need to order something different.

First time coming here and I wasn’t disappointed..the food was super tasty..some things I didn’t like was the complimentary popcorn they gave us..the flavor just didn’t set right with me..also I ordered two pancakes on the side and they were the most expensive pancakes ever after I saw the bill lol. But overall if you’re looking for a good brunch spot then come here.

This was my 1st time trying this restaurant , we were looking for a spot that is dog friendly and yes they are ! Great spot and amazing waiter his name was Elias he was kind enough to bring the table a Keylime Coconut cheesecake it was pretty good . I got the short ribs as starters was amazing they should have that as a full portion meal. My dinner I did the Tavern burger great choice if you are feeling a burger , my daughter got the grilled cheese sandwich she loved it . Oh and the French fries are amazing as well . My buddy got the oysters his only concern they were pretty small, Truffle mac and cheese was pretty good. Overall give this spot a try it is definitely worth it 👍🏼.
