sholayar dam..a concrete dam built across the chalakkudi river in valparai..a hill station in the anamalai hills..this dam is actually split into two resorvoirs..one is upper sholayar and the another one is lower sholayar..

Beautiful roadside view point of Upper Sholayar reservoir. Riders can stop by and enjoy the panoramic view. The area is so peaceful. While coming from Kerala, it is situated around 3km after Sholayar Dam.

Nice and beautiful site The place is good but no water when we went in May 2023. It depends on when you visit this place, its quite magnanimous view but without water not so interesting.Sholayar Dam is one of the biggest reservoirs in tamil nadu and located in chalakkudi river. You can enjoy an amazing view of the reservoir from the dam. The best time to visit the dam is mansoon. Better to plan the trip when the dam shutters are open so that you can get an amazing view of nature. It's a must visit place on your valparai - malakkappara trip.

It's located in outer space of Valparai 25kms, athirapally falls road to reach 80kms. Good view scenery point of nature. Sholayur dam is around 8.7km water storage dam. Enjoy the beautiful nature.

From atop the Upper Sholayar dam, you amble aimlessly, you eyes feasting on the hills, the dramatic sky with fluffy clouds floating, and the greenery surrounding the lake lending its emerald hue to the water. Wherever the wild takes a break in Sholayar, you find tea estates taking over, dutifully. With their velvety sheen, they throw open long trails your way. .
