We had brunch at The Boathouse Sunday after my daughters wedding. We had called a week ahead and told them we would be there with 25 people. I have worked in restaurants for many years, and I know how chaotic a party that size could be, especially when the checks were divided between guests. Jared was our server and he was amazing and handled our huge, loud, rambunctious group with ease and humor…and a lot of patience😊. He and the other staff were attentive and enjoyable. The food was outstanding, and timely even with our huge group. Jared made great suggestions and everyone was happy and full when we left. That was the last thing that our wedding group did together, many of the people were leaving to go home after our brunch, and it was really the perfect place to say farewell. Thank you so much to The Boathouse management and staff. We will be back!

This place was good. Love this new location. Been going to The Boathouse for a few years now, I’ve always gone to the Sunday Park location so I was excited to dine at the Short Pump location. Great atmosphere and the food was amazing! We started off with a dozen and a half oysters accompanied with really good Moscow mules, and vodka oyster shooters. Very nice way to start the evening. Our main course was just as good as the starters. The service was not bad, all the ordering is done with a QR code menu now which is different for me. Once you are seated you scan the code put in your name and then browse the menu and you add what you want to your cart and click order and that’s it. If you want anything else you just go back to your phone and add more to your tables cart and click order. You pretty much do everything your self. All our sever did was say hello, give us water and that was it didn’t see him much after. The QR code thing is cool, I like this idea however for my parents who are not tech savvy it would have been difficult for them to order if it was just them dining. Also due to this type of service we feel like our server wasn’t really around much. Since all ordering and stuff is all done by you on your phone. We didn’t even need to see our server to pay the bill it’s all done on your phone. Not much personal face to face human interaction with your server. Also Gratuity is also added to each table and no tipping is needed. Again cool idea for the servers to make money however again we feel that due to this “guaranteed” gratuity we feel like our server was not as attentive to our table and our needs, and was MIA a lot. I feel like when the servers have to actually work for the tips they are more in tune with the table and the guests needs, because the good service they provide depends on how well the dining experience we have is, and the tip. Our sever not once cleared our table and it was the hostess that did that. So other than that, everything’s else was good. Would most definitely come back here just hope the next time we do that our server shows a little more effort and is around more.

Cassandra at the Boathouse was an exceptional server. Though there was an issue with one of the entrees, she promptly made sure there was a replacement on the way and was empathetic of the mistake. She was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The team made everything right and I would highly recommend Cassandra and the management at Boathouse! They made my birthday dinner very special.

Had a great first experience at the Boathouse. Jared was our server and it looks like he has several reviews talking about how good of a service he’s provided, now including us! He went over the menu extensively and took his time in answering all of the questions we had. We ordered a chicken dish, steak, and an apple cobbler for dessert which all tasted fantastic. We were also impressed with the speed of service since we tend to get unlucky with waiting long for food to arrive to our table. Everything from the mashed potatoes to the asparagus to the chicken/steak was delicious and the apple cobbler in the end was to die for and was the perfect cap to the already amazing dinner. You will order from your phone by scanning a QR code. I did like this part in that it was easier to order and pay through my phone than going back and forth with our server. Just be mindful that the restaurant charges a mandatory 20% service charge and you have the option to tip more if you feel that you’ve received excellent service. There is a memo that outlines how all of this works on each table. It’s definitely a bit of a splurge for us (paid around $100 for just two dishes plus dessert and no alcoholic beverages) so we will be back when we decide to treat ourselves again!

Went here for their special Easter brunch buffet. It was around 1PM on Sunday. We didn’t have reservations so they said the wait time was about 1 hour. Luckily there was plenty of seating at the bar area so we sat there. Their brunch was tasty and plentiful. There was a table where they cut you slices of meat, and where they made you an omelette on the spot. Our servers were the bar tenders and they were fantastic. Mags was very friendly and helpful! She let us know that they had a dessert table which we almost missed. She answered all our questions and was really nice. The other bar staff also went out of their way to assist us. Had a lovely time.

This was my first time at this location and in general The Boarhouse doesn't disappoint! They have contactless ordering and everything is done through kiosk at your table from ordering to paying your bill. It's a pretty efficient system and very easy to use. For those less technologically inclined, your writer will take your order. My only gripe was that the manager was very selective in approaching tables and asking people how was their meal considering it was pretty empty that day for dinner.

Nice place to grab a bit to eat after a nice day of shopping. The service was good, the establishment was clean, friendly staff and the food was good. Is this mainly a seafood spot so I was impressed when the steak was made to perfection. We also ordered the fried oysters, and spicy mussels and they were just as tasty.

Came here for a date and it was lovely! Kathryn was an excellent server who gave great drink recommendations. I had the crab cakes and they were mostly crab meat. Excellent char on the outside and paired well with the mustard sauce. The atmosphere was great...music not too loud and ample space between patrons.

Just another wannabe D.C. riverfront restaurant that sells overpriced menu items with subpar quality. They also charge an automatic 20% gratuity regardless of party size, but yet do not have some of the basic items available, such as lemonade for an Arnold Palmer. The service didn’t even deserve a 20% tip, at least not ours. We made a reservation and got in 15 minutes early but the host said they couldn’t seat us because they didn’t have enough servers to tend to us. How is that possible for a Saturday dinner service on a long weekend? Overall experience can be summed up in one word…disappointing. It was one disappointment after another especially hearing about the gratuity charge and then seeing the food we get and then the total damage they charge. Appetizers are probably the only good things to get on the menu. The entrees are all just overpriced, undersized, and meh. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Visited for brunch and it was absolutely amazing! Our server Tanner was attentive and super nice. The diy mimosa bar was a great choice. We got the shrimp and grits and the steak and eggs. Both was absolutely delicious! It was not too crowded which made the atmosphere 10/10. The zookie for dessert is a must try. Will definitely return!

If I could give The Boathouse a 10 I would. They made my 49th birthday very special to me and I would like to appreciate it. The atmosphere is relaxing & beautiful. The workers are very friendly & professional. The food was great. Very delicious & the drinks were tasty. Being a Mixologist, one can appreciate a very tasty, well balance drink. Please keep up the good work & I will be back.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Boat House Short Pump in Virginia, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, and the service provided by Alex, our server, was top-notch. Alex went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was enjoyable. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and had a genuine passion for providing excellent service. He made us feel welcome and comfortable throughout the entire meal. Now, let me talk about the cream brûlée dessert. It was absolutely divine! The creamy custard had the perfect consistency, and the caramelized sugar on top added a delightful crunch. It was a dessert that truly melted in my mouth and left me wanting more. Overall, the Boat House Short Pump is a fantastic restaurant, and I highly recommend it. The combination of excellent service from Alex and the delectable cream brûlée dessert made for a memorable dining experience.

We’ve been debating on where we will have our anniversary dinner will be and as always we end up to our favorite place. We ordered the 3 course dinner with cocktail and red wine. Kelsey is super nice and always check on us. As always the place is nice and cozy and the music choice are really good and not loud. The food is so delicious and big portions. We have New England clam chowder, seared Atlantic salmon, crab cake and crispy shrimps and crème brûlée and bread pudding and they’re all delicious. They also gave us a signed card for our anniversary. We’ll be back again.

Booked a private table for a little Bridal brunch. And this spot did not disappoint. We loved every minute of it. The best coffee we have ever had. Drinks galore. Amazing fried asparagus and oysters. The butter was soooooo good my Prego friend asked if she could have some to take home with her. Jared was freaking AMAZING as our event server. Cannot say enough about how great our time was here.

Wow! The Boathouse is Oh-Mazing! Me and my Husband went there for his birthday 🥳🎉🎈lunch and they treated him like a King and me like a Queen. The food was Outstanding and the Steaks were done to Medium Perfection! Truffle Fries were Amazing along with the Garlic Oil I ordered on the side and the Grilled Shrimp was delicious along with the Asparagus which was soft n tender. I got the Sea Ghost Cocktail drink and that was made OMG Good! To Top it off Carmen our -Waitress- was Excellent! She surprised Hubby at the end of our meal with a “Happy Birthday” 🥳🎉🎈 special treat….We were blown away by the way it was presented. Thank You so very much Carmen for making Our Day plus hubby’s special Day! We will continue to give The Boathouse Our business each and every time we visit Richmond. My dinner mate and I were trying our best to give our server the benefit of the doubt. However it was one mishap after another. The saving grace was, I'm guessing it was a supervisor, came to our table to make things right with our order. I asked for the salmon to be prepared rare. When it arrived it was well done and dry. I first brought it up to our server and she said she'd talk to the Chef. However, it was the supervisor who stated they don't like to serve it rare, which is fine, but if the server stated that when I ordered I would have chosen a different entree. We also had a few items missing that were never brought out to the table. Setting and atmosphere of the restaurant is airy and light. Decor was white and wood, so a modern shabby chic feel. Bathrooms: they spent time and made the effort to bring the same shabby chic feel into their bathroom. The tin design on the bathroom door was a nice touch. I don't recall whether there was a changing station or not.

Birthday dinner night out! Pretty decor with a fresh, modern style. Really enjoyed the fresh, raw oysters. Even had an oyster shooter for the first time. We also had the shrimp tacos and the grilled salmon. Nothing particularly special or surprising in our order, or on the menu, but what we had was tasty. Jared took care of us and kept everything arriving on time.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience at the Boathouse at Short Pump. I’m vegan and I couldn’t find anything vegan on the menu. I asked if they had anything vegan and the chef came out to the table to say that they didn’t have anything vegan on the menu but that he would make something for me nevertheless. My meal was amazing! Then, on top of that, they brought out sides made vegan to show me other items I would be able to order in the future which they would be happy to prepare vegan for me. The customer service and attention to my dietary needs was the best I have ever experienced at a restaurant. I will definitely be back. Thank you Chef Teddy and Alycen!

My husband and I decided to come to the Boathouse to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. The aesthetic is absolutely stunning, giving an elevated yacht club atmosphere. Our waiter, Kamari, was beyond helpful and made our first time experience perfection! I highly recommend the “Strawberry Patch” cocktail; very refreshing! We will most definitely be dining again!
