I
booked
a
table
at
Ernest
&
Co
for
New
Years
Eve
daytime
for
6
people
2
off
which
were
small
children.
this
was
relayed
during
the
booking
and
that
there
would
be
a
pushchair.
The
waiter
gave
me
a
choice
of
2
tables
,
a
6
seat
table
or
the
snug
when
i
booked,
no
mention
that
it
was
unsuitable
to
bring
children.
I
chose
the
6
seat
table.
When
we
arrived
on
new
years
eve
i
was
promptly
told
by
the
Bar
Manager
that
the
table
we
had
booked
wasn't
available
as
it
has
been
booked
by
another
party
and
that
it
was
impossible
for
me
to
have
booked
that
table
in
the
first
place.
Totally
shocked
and
upset
by
the
rudeness
from
him
,
he
told
me
we
could
have
a
table
that
was
completely
unsuitable
for
our
needs.
because
we
didn't
want
to
make
a
scene
we
decided
that
we
would
eat
outside
on
a
large
table
fortunately
the
weather
was
the
mildest
New
years
eve
on
record,
but
we
were
in
the
smoking
area
which
wasn't
ideal.
We
had
our
food
and
drink
and
promptly
paid
our
bill
of
£150
and
left,
no
apology
from
the
bar
manager
for
the
mix
up.
But
what
then
happened
was
more
concerning
and
sinister.
I
phoned
up
to
complain
only
to
have
the
bar
manager
tell
a
story
that
never
happened.
I
was
told
the
waiter
who
booked
my
table
told
me
in
advance
that
the
tables
i
wanted
were
never
available
and
a
pushchair
would
be
inconvenient
but
he
would
do
his
best
to
accommodate
me
and
my
party.
THIS
CONVERSATION
NEVER
HAPPENED
!
I
promptly
asked
to
speak
to
the
General
Manager,
the
bar
manager
laughed
and
said
"it
wont
do
you
any
good
!!
.
I
eventually
did
speak
with
the
general
manager
but
the
conversation
i
had
was
probably
the
worse
example
of
customer
service
i
have
ever
experienced
,
completely
making
up
scenarios
that
never
occurred
but
also
i
could
hear
the
bar
manager
in
the
background
prompting
him.
I
ended
the
phone
call
totally
shocked
as
i
have
been
a
regular
customer
since
moving
to
Shrewsbury
and
since
Ernest
and
co
opened.
Over
the
last
2
years
the
hospitality
industry
has
had
a
rough
time
with
covid
and
i
have
supported
local
industries,
it
beggars
belief
then
the
way
my
party
were
spoken
to
during
the
day
and
subsequently
during
my
phone
call
of
complaint.
It
felt
is
if
they
were
above
any
criticism
and
we
felt
we
were
not
welcome
at
all
and
worst
of
all
implying
we
were
lying,
that
is
unforgivable.
Ernest
and
co
portrays
itself
as
a
upmarket
wine
bar
with
fine
food
,
and
it
is,
the
chef
or
chefs
serve
up
really
nice
food
but
the
customer
service
is
far
from
upmarket,
in
fact
its
shoddy,
amateurish
and
rude.
