Just walking the grounds is worth the trip. Walk up to the inner castle, then down to the shops in altstadt (old town) for good shopping and great food. Bring good walking shoes!

Visited this castle twice already and it was still very interesting. Have beautiful views on town from castle's walls and roof. Also have 2 museums. Can walk around the castle for free, museums aren't expensive though. Near the castle have a lake and can take a nice walk around it. I recommend to visit this place👍🏻

Lovely historical castle that stretches 1km across the hilltop, parking is available on site but limited at busy times, you can park within a few 100m and walk to the castle fairly easily. Entry is free to the site with a museum section which charges a fee. Nice eateries available and public facilities in multi locations.

Beautifully preserved this castle dates back as early as the second half of the 13th century. It is said that the expansion of the castle to its present state predominantly took place during the reign of Lower Bavarian Duke. It’s is the world’s longest castle complex now. You can enjoy the full length of this beautiful castle any day. Inside the castle premises now hosts a museum displaying the contents of the era. Views from the castle are picturesque. I recommend this castle on any cloudy or cold day as the views are amazing. There is a restaurant inside the castle.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Castle and the walk around it. It may be that the weather also played a crucial role, being sunny and the modest breeze, setting up the mood. The parking near the castle can become a crunch during weekends so plan to park either downtown or before you reach the destination. There are a few eateries inside the castle and I suggest cafe burghausen. Many small windows to explore and observe the beauty of the Castle and surroundings. Also plenty of green space for kids to have fun.

Burghausen Fortress is one of the largest and most impressive fortress complexes in Europe. The Castle has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. It was originally built in the 11th century and has undergone expansions and modifications over the centuries. The castle complex extends over a ridge between the Salzach River and the Wöhrsee Lake, creating a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. The castle consists of several courtyards, walls, towers and buildings, creating a unique architectural ensemble. Notable features include six main courtyards, several imposing gates, and various residential and defensive structures. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture the beauty of the surroundings!

Definitely a wonderful site. It was absolutely amazing to visit and walk around the castle. The views around the castle were great and was definitely worth it. We couldn't trust the GPS, however, to get to the parking lot. It took us a wrong way and we almost got in trouble for it.

The longest castle in Europe. This is a true pearl of Bavaria. I don't even know what is more beautiful: the castle itself or the views that open from it! The atmosphere of medieval antiquity prevails on the territory of the castle. There is a bar, a restourant, a little shop and toilets. Descendants of noble families still live on the territory of the castle. The castle can be reached by stairs from the city center or by back passages from the lake. At the foot of the castle there is a beautiful emerald lake where you can swim and sunbathe. Entrance is 3 euros. Not far from the lake there is a free underground parking lot from the hospital. Definitely recommend!!

The best castle experience I've had. Don't forget to grab a map at the entrance, so you can read all the information about the different parts of the castle.

Great place of historical significance. A great way to relax is to play 18 holes of minigolf literally just outside the walls.

The longest castle i have yet to see. A long walk up well worth the climb for views to the town below. Great to see it is a lived in castle, not by nobility but ordinary people. So well cared for and clean surroundings. Tickets only req for the musuem.

Was a great trip, we went on the weekend and it wasn’t that packed, got a little bit more people over time around lunchtime. We got some cool pictures around the castle, and had a wonderful time

The castle all over is beautiful. There are many possibilities to spent the day. In December they usually open a "Christkindlmarkt" which is perfect for a romantic walk in the night. But not only that! In summer the little lake in front of the castle is pretty popular as well. The castle includes two tiny museum's. You need to pay for the entrance but it's not much. Not only adults enjoy a visit, but also children. The castle is huge and shows much place to play. In conclusion a visit is affordable, family friendly and wonderful at any month.
