This
was
the
first
time
I
was
ever
disappointed
in
an
NH
property.
I
have
spent
close
to
30
nights
across
13
different
NH
properties
in
Italy,
Spain,
Austria
and
Germany.
So
much
went
wrong.
At
check-in
there
was
chaos.
Many
friendly,
but
apparently
less
experienced
staff.
I
got
my
room
assignment,
and
little
blue
envelope
,and
an
actual
key.
But
when
I
got
to
the
room,
I
realized
there
was
no
electricity
so
I
had
to
go
back
to
the
desk
to
get
the
magnetic
card
to
insert
and
activate
the
power.
At
that
time,
a
women
was
in
a
heated
discussion
with
the
front
desk
staff
around
a
billing
issue.
She
was
loud.
20
minutes
later
she
was
still
there
and
still
loud.
Later
in
the
afternoon,
there
was
another
situation
with
a
guest(?),
and
a
policeman,
and
the
guest
was
yelling,
sometimes
incoherently
about
a
boyfriend
with
a
gun
who
wanted
to
kill
her.
People
in
the
lobby
were
even
filming
the
incident
on
their
phones.
I
used
to
be
a
concierge
at
a
high
end
hotel
in
Washington,
DC.
First
rule
in
cases
like
this
was
to
de-escalate
and
move
the
upset
parties
to
a
quiet
place
away
from
the
main
flow
of
hotel
traffic.
Was
a
very
upsetting
scene
for
many
to
witness.
Parking.
A
difficult
thing
in
Siena
to
be
sure,
but
made
more
unclear
by
the
desk
staff
trying
to
show
me
where
public
parking
was
on
the
map
and
where
the
NH
Hotel
was.
The
staff
member
got
the
location
of
the
hotel
incorrect
on
the
map...
in
the
end
I
opted
for
the
30
Euro
valet
service.
Pricey,
but
again,
it's
Siena
and
parking
is
limited.
The
room.
My
wife
tried
to
extract
a
tissue
from
the
wall
dispenser.
That
broke
loose,
crashing
on
to
the
sink
area
and
shattering
a
glass.
It
was
cleaned
up
but
these
things
shouldn't
break
apart.
The
balcony.
I
paid
extra
to
get
a
superior
balcony
room.
But
the
balcony
is
so
narrow
as
to
be
unusable.
Also,
there
was
orange
hazard
tape
over
broken
parts
of
the
balcony
railing
so
it
didn't
seem
safe
to
go
out.
Why
should
I
pay
extra
for
something
that
isn't
usable
?!?!?!
Finally,
upgrading
to
a
superior
room
always
means
slippers,
robes,
coffee
maker.
Slippers
were
there.
No
robe.
No
coffee
maker.
After
several
hours,
a
single
robe
was
found.
No
coffee
maker
could
be
produced.
I
know
these
may
seem
like
first
world
problems
and
that
is
true.
But
when
you
pay
good
money,
when
you
pat
extra
for
a
Superior
room
with
a
balcony,
and
the
30
nights
you've
spent
in
NH
Hotels
lets
you
believe
there
will
be
consistent
service
levels,
this
type
of
stay
just
doesn't
cut
it.
2
stars.
Staff
were
friendly
but
just
not
able
to
handle
the
difficult
issues,
and
not
able
to
offer
options
to
the
missing
robe
and
coffee
maker.
Feeling
cheated
for
paying
a
good
deal
more
for
a
superior
room
with
balcony
and
basically
ending
up
with
a
standard
room
and
amenities.
Must
be
some
way
to
make
this
right.
