Bureh is a lovely getaway about an hour’s drive outside of Freetown. They have multiple accommodation options ranging from tent setups to 100,000 Le rooms without running water to 300,000 Le rooms with a full setup. Lots of surfing and lounging to be done with green/blue ocean views. I ate the biggest shrimp I’ve ever eaten there. And it was delightful.

Bureh Beach has a certain unexplained beauty that never leaves your mind after you have experienced it. It was love at first sight for me in 2006. Since then i visit Bureh Beach regularly. It is worth the journey around the peninsula and I would recommend it to any soul searching traveller. The magic is in the villagers, always willing and helpful. Bureh Beach is one of Sierra Leone's Gems.
