We booked the Flight Deck Suite, because we wanted the unique and unusual experience. We booked ten months in advance and flew all the way to Stockholm solely for this purpose. (We even confirmed our reservation by email, because this was an important trip to us.) On the morning of our stay, the property called us to announce that they had decided to not honour our reservation due a triple booking. Following some quite tense arguments with the manager, I was promised a full refund and a downgrade to the very basic shared hostel-style accomodation. If you're reading this at any point after you've booked, my advice is to start the refund process now, so you can avoid getting scammed and start looking for somewhere else to stay. The standard rooms are quite small, and there's very little about them that gives a sense of aviation. The wall is curved, sure, and there's an overhead bin. Really the ambience here is the same as any other budget hostel, but at a much higher price. The reception desk is staffed by the manager, begrudgingly, for an hour or two now and then. (It seems he's been doing this for ten years and the novelty of his job has long worn off.) There's a bar, again unmanned. If you've ever stayed in a low-budget bargain-basement F1 hotel or grotty shared communal hostel, it's like that - but without the staff, service, or ambience. The only member of staff we encountered was staggeringly incompetent, both with us and in interactions we observed with other guests. (To the owner: if you're reading this: He appears to be your main problem. If you share my enthusiasm for doing Liv justice, you need to replace the manager with someone who has working experience of running a hospitality business.) The WiFi wasn't working, which the manager says is the airport's fault, not his. (By the way, everything here is someone else's fault. The manager takes no responsibility for the hostel he is supposed to be managing. The lift hasn't worked for months. The website contains out of date, contradictory and false information. None of this is the manager's problem. The booking system is clearly broken, accepting multiple conflicting bookings for one-of-a-kind suites. This, he explained to me at length, is not his problem either: This is the problem of the company that owns the booking system.) The property is generally quite tatty, with peeling paint and saddening signs of neglect and disrepair. It's a real shame to see this once-magnificent aircraft left to deteriorate in this state. It's genuinely saddening, as an aviation enthusiast, to see this airframe, and this business opportunity, left to rot. Luckily, if you've already made the mistake of booking here, you have local options. There's a regular free bus service to the airport, where you'll find restaurants and bars (with friendly helpful staff), free WiFi (that works!), and all the other reasonable amenities that this hostel is lacking. Better still, if you haven't booked yet, the airport security staff are very tolerant of passengers staying overnight on their lounge chairs, or stretching out across the comfortable seats. The area around gate F33 is especially comfortable and quiet. And if you've got 100SEK for the day-fee at Hotel Arlanda, you can enjoy their outdoor pool, gym, changing facilities, showers (including shower gel - the Jumbo Stay shower dispensers were empty), clean towels, and even water and fruit. If you're thinking of coming to stay here because the flight deck suite appeals, prepare for disappointment. But... if you're just looking to get some rest before/after your flight, I have even clearer advice: The nearby airport terminals and hotels are not just reasonably priced but also orders of magnitude better, with bars and restaurants, comfortable accommodations, ensuite bathrooms, and helpful staff. If you find that all the local hotels are fully booked, and Jumbo Stay is your absolute last option... Then, and only then, as a last resort... Sleep rough.

Interesting hotel in a decommissioned airplane that is just a couple minutes away from the terminals. Pretty barebones but with that cheaper than alternatives within the airport terrain. I found it to be totally fine for an overnight stay while waiting for your (connecting) flight. I booked the unique engine room which was obviously small but sufficient. The bed was quite comfortable, and I had no issue with noises from the airport. The self-service breakfast was simple but sufficient to stave off hunger until later.

Great place. 5 minutes away by shuttle. Clean, fun, Comfortable bed, cozy rooms, plenty of luggage space. Can check in at any time. Great showers hot and high pressure. "Simple shuttle directions", go to terminal 4 or 2. Go outside, stop will be against terminal. Crew members and staff will be waiting. Yellow bus labeled P2 will take you right to the hostel. Shuttle is free. I took it at 1:30am.

Grubby shabby hostel. Booked the Jumbo Stay expecting a quirky hostel. Sadly this decaying near abandoned hostel is on its last legs. Having stayed in many good hostels pre and post covid, this one leaves you counting the hours till you leave. It's the 747 version of the abandoned Mary Celeste. Communal spaces/facilities: There are none that are open to guests. There is nowhere to meet and socialise with guests. No where to sit and enjoy reading a book other than your room. The "lounge" at the front is closed off behind a curtain. Looks great online, sadly not able to be used as laminated signs make it clear this area is for breakfast only. There are a couple of rotting benches on the wing if you need some fresh air. But seeing the terrible state of decaying 747 exterior brings home the lack of care the owners have for this. There is a wifi code with a password suggesting it may have worked when set up in 2010, but like most of the property this no longer works. Staff: The place is unmanned. There is a sign with prices to suggest it once had a bar, it used to have a cafe with food. But now this unloved place is left unstaffed and left to fend for itself. Makes most hostelworld properties facilities look 5* in comparison. Cleanliness: The entire place is grubby. Toilets with no loo roll and bins left overflowing. As no staff on site and no WiFi there is no way of reporting except calling a remote number. Summary: Stay anywhere but here. I was counting the hours till our flight out of ARN so I could leave.

What a pleasant flight! An extraordinary hostel with very nice staff! We had a very nice stay and the kids loved the night on the plane! The beds are very comfortable and the washrooms are clean. A great place to stay for a stopover that you won't forget.

The good: unique experience, good to have 24 h breakfast and free ride to airport terminal. Booking was pretty straightforward and got the room with WC due to low occupancy. Free Wifi and TV on room. The bad: Felt cold all night long since it does not have heater on the room. Same thing with hot water, it took about two minutes to get hot water runinng every time. Do not expect much privacy since he walls are thin and everything can be heard from the contiguos rooms.

Fantastic!!! Me and the kids had the pleasure of staying in the cockpit suit. Absolutely fantastic hostel, great customer service and breakfast better than some top hotels (given current COVID restrictions). Best of all is the ability to play pilot all day and night and try every button,lever,control.. 100% recommendation!

OMG!! This is an experience I will not forget. I loved every minute of it!! From the booking process to the check in process. Great for a layover or just great for a night and then moving along with your travel plans. We stayed here as we had a very early flight the next morning. No frills stay, and perfect in all the other ways. I reserved the “cockpit room” and by golly, what a treat. You must experience this at least once! Our beds and pillows were so nice and comfy. The place is quite clean. Elevators weren’t working when we were there, but Tom helped us up the stairs with our luggage. Keep in mind also that folks driving by can stop and take photos so be careful if you leave any doors open. You can never be too careful. Tom was great. He helped to check us in and gave us the deets and instructions. Location seem safe enough and obviously there are cameras around. Also, they don’t have food here around the clock, just for breakfast. So you might want to bring something to eat or go to the terminals or across the street to the Radisson Blue hotel, where you will find a full bar and dining. Getting to the terminal is easy as there is a shuttle bus that drops u off or you can catch it to and from the airport. Great experience and I’m so glad I got to do it!! We had dinner at The Radisson Blue, and our meal was delicious! The wifi here is also great!

Definitely unique experience😄Room was clean and bed was comfortable. I stayed in shared room for 4 ppl and room was very small which is no surprise. Simple breakfast was available from 3 am. Shuttle bus is handy and it's running 24/7.

First of all, don't worry! You won't be sleeping in your regular economy class seat that airlines offer nowadays. Itruly enjoyed my stay at this Boeing 747 converted into an hostel. For convenience there is a shuttle bus that takes you from the airport terminals in about 10 mins. The interior still maintains some of the original parts of the aircraft and you can even check its history prior to arrive at Stockholm Arlanda. Rooms are quite small (to be expected) but nicely kept and clean. Toilet facilities are also good. In the morning go for an exploratory tour of the 747 from the outside, before going back to the lounge to enjoy the breakfast (not complimentary, but worth it). Overall a nice experience! Careful if you happen to land in a different place once you wake up.

A very different and enjoyable type of hotel experience. Staying on board a former active Boeing 747 Jumbo is certainly a vacation with a twist. The cockpit suite, with former first class lounge and private balcony was a real treat. Many items from the original flight deck are still in place and make for a very interesting and playful stay. Frequent shuttle service to the nearby Arlanda Airport

It's more of a bucket-list thing, but it is a unique experience. You can tell the plane has seen better days, but the bed (engine pod) was comfy. Could have done with a table or coat hooks, as there's nowhere to put your clothes. I enjoyed it, but it's quite niche.

This was the perfect place for an overnight stay, just before a next-day early morning flight! Very unusual and exciting. My room was wonderful: super-clean, more spacious than I had expected, all furnishings fresh and neat. The hotel manager was very friendly and welcoming, he told me about the history of the Jumbo and showed me around. The free shuttle to the airport terminals is just down the pathway, and that is very easy and convenient. I will definitely go back in the future and can highly recommend staying here if you are up for a no-nonsense, no-frills, functional stay.

For an aviation freak like me, this was like Disneyland. The hostel host was very nice and friendly showing us around the aircraft. The jumbo is my favorite plane 🥰❤️

Good budget solution when flight leaves early or arrives late. Fun concept, especially if you travel with kids. Overall a bit worn down and really deserves some refurbishment. The self served breakfast is okay, but one would really wish for more hygienic solutions than everyone handling the same ordinary consumer packages.

I booked here for the experience of staying in an Engine Room. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. I knew i was going go to be arriving after reception had closed and had made early contact woth the hotel for instructions for room entrance communicating this was going to be the case. On the night I arrived, my flight was even later that planned. Thankfully didnt have to wait too long for the shuttle bus and managed to enter the hotel with ease. I picked up my room card that had been left on the reception desk and ventured back outside to the engine rooms. To my disappointment, my room number did not correspond to any of the engine rooms. With time now twindling for zzzz before my next flight, I returned to reception and identified my assigned room number was for an economy triple room within the communal corridor of the aircraft. I had 5 and bit hours before i needed to be back up so went to bed. ( Not sure who I can complain to at 0030 in the am anyway). I would have slept anywhere at this point. I contacted my hotel booking provider post stay (as again no reception open when I left) who contacted Jumbo and was told by staff there, I had stayed in an engine room! I have my key card cover and video from the room to show I did not stay in an engine room. It was an economy triple. Disappointed and offended by Jumbo for lying and not responding to my email. My advice is don't stay if your after a particular room like cockpit/ black box or engine as they obviously cant guaratee you these however far in advance you book. Not worth the journey out from the Terminals this being the case and you'll get more sleep / save time by being at the Terminal. Breakfast was pretty dire. No instructions left out. The curtain to the restuarant was drawn across but the website said breakfast should have been open so I helped myself to a coffee. Thankfully my friends who stayed at the Terminal got me a take out breakfast from there hotel. Ive given Jumbo time to reply to my email and they havent. I was expecting much, an apology would have done, maybe with an explanation of why the mistake happened.

This is absolutely fantastic!!!! All our family was super excited!!! Plus - clean room and self-served breakfast from 3 am to 10 pm. I was very sorry seeing not that much visitors. If you are in Stockholm or nearby you have to rent the room in Jumbo at least for 1 day!

jumbo Stay is located inside a decommissioned Boeing 747-212B jetliner.[1] The aircraft was originally built for Singapore Airlines in 1976, and later served with Pan American World Airways.[2][1] Its last air operator was Transjet, a Swedish charter airline based out of Stockholm Arlanda Airport that went bankrupt in 2002.[3] The aircraft was bought by Oscar Diös in 2006, and moved to a location near Arlanda Airport. Its interior was almost entirely changed, although some features of the aircraft, such as the flight controls, were retained.[4] It opened as a hotel in 2009.[3] The hotel Inside view of the Jumbo Stay The JumboStay has 33 rooms with up to four beds in each. A larger room, branded the "cockpit suite", is located on the upper deck. Altogether, the hostel holds 76 beds. Some of the smaller rooms are located in the engines.[3] The first-class lounge has been converted into a cafe which sells snacks and simple meals, and is open to the public.[2][4] The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the airport terminal and can be reached by shuttle bus

Contrary to the information provided on the website. There is never an opportunity to purchase anything as there is no staff present at anytime. If you have a problem there’s no one to speak to. The café and bar is not open as well. So it’s essentially an overpriced self service hostel. Air conditioning system was very weak, I’m not sure it was even functioning so the temperature in the enclosed space was very uncomfortable on the hot and humid night of my stay. The web site has references to upgrades coming in 2012!!??? Won’t be staying again or recommending. Only worth visiting the site if you have a long wait between flights.

Best for layover stay at the airport. Shuttle from p2 or p3 from the terminal 4 bus stop only takes 3min to the hotel. Rooms unique but clean and easy to use/check in

  • 3/5 Thomas L. 2 years ago on Google
If you want the experience (or have kids that would appreciate it) of sleeping in a jumbo jet then that’s what you get for a pretty moderate price. However, apart from that novelty this place doesn’t have much going for it. It’s pretty barebones, simple and a bit shabby. The triple rooms are not really made to hang out in, only to sleep in as the bed takes up almost the entire floor space. There’s no desk. Oh and it’s shared bathrooms. Want to sleep in a jumbo jet? Go for it. Don’t care, just want a hotel room? Look elsewhere.

  • 4/5 Matthew M. 7 months ago on Google
The guy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The inside was well maintained but the outside area and the look of the hostel needs work. The bus to the terminals is very easy to access and goes regularly

  • 3/5 Anna K. 6 months ago on Google
Easy access ,book online. If you need to stay the night at Arlanda this is a totally viable option. Take the shuttle from terminal 4 to the stop "Jumbo stay". Nothing fancy, the cheapest rooms are 2+1 beds, shared shower and toilets.

  • 1/5 thomas k. 3 years ago on Google
don't waste your money there. it's all about the concept. no service provided, no staff at all (just a code sent by e-mail to open the door), it seems breakfast is self-service if you happen to find it (or interested at what is looking like leftovers)... and on top, super unpolite by e-mail (but in line with the overall service). Avoid.

It's a unique experience alright! A retired 747 parked just off the taxiway at ARL, with a variety of accommodation available. I went for the "engine room" as, let's be honest, how often do you get to sleep in a plane engine? Check-in was good; I arrived early but the sociable guy on duty let me check in early and showed me how things worked. Be aware the engine rooms are up metal steps and have no toilet, those are in the plane which involves walking across grass to the steps. Saying that, it was a great experience and definitely something I'd recommend purely for the madness factor! You can get either of the parking buses which stop on the main road just down from the plane, run every few minutes 24 hours a day and drop you at T4 / T2 in five minutes, for free!

Location - GREAT !!! Take a shuttle from the airport and it drops you off right at the hotel Service - it’s a do it yourself kind of place - no one in sight in case you have questions Rooms - clean but small - expected Bathrooms - clean Breakfast- blah 😑 water, juice, coffee, bread 🍞-

A 747 turned into a hostel, small room but if you're interested in aircraft it's totally different. Sits buy one of the taxiways. A real must if you find yourself in Alanda

I stayed overnight on the 26th of May, 2023. - great location, the plane is equally impressive day and night. An airport shuttle drops you off in front of jumbostay any time. (I arrived after midnight) - Excellent thing to tick off your bucketlist AND when you have little time to explore otherwise. - I slept in an engine room, and the bed was very comfortable. With my condition, I am a picky sleeper, so 💯 for this one. - as pointed out elsewhere, the plane is old, and rooms are sparse. A small table to put your clothes or the like would be great to have. - breakfast could be improved. No eggs (as on the photos), maybe add fruit. They do have spreads, spread cheese, cheese and ham, tea and coffee. My advice: come early, otherwise much will be gone already. - I found out too late, but you can have breakfast on the wings, which makes for a spectacular view on a sunny day. :) - accessibility is an issue. There is a lift to the reception, but not sure if it was in service. In any case, forget sleeping outside of the main plane (aka engine rooms) otherwise. - service via email was fast and efficient, but the service staff on location was mostly unseen. - showers were OK clean, no issue there. Summarizing: improve the service and accessibility levels, and breakfast options/availability, otherwise a great experience.

Expensive for what is offering. Shared bathroom, nothing inside the very small room. Never ever again.

  • 1/5 Rachael G. 1 year ago on Google
The lift is still not working and so had to lug all the cases up the stairs in snowing slept weather-not good. No staff around as detailed but cannot get access to the tables outside on the wing that we wanted to use. Shower/ toilet area stink of damp. Cannot find the room with blue airplane chairs on like you see on the advert for this place. Breakfast bare minimum as stated. Only positive is the location being short shuttle from airport. Very very very tired, run down concept hotel that has been allowed to deteriorate and well past an upgrade.

Will definitely stay here in this funky hotel whenever arriving late or leaving an early morning! Kind staff, straightforward house rules, super comfy beds, cool layout. The best way to turn an old Jumbo jet into a hotel!

Really unique hotel. Il be honest the walk up to it left me wanting to paint the thing myself as does look a bit run down but once inside you forget abt that and blown away by the fact your boarding your hotel really cool rooms and nice breakfast set up all in all not a bad hotel. Even had a tire swing made from a jets tire which my daughter loved..

When you stay somewhere new, it is worth having an experience while there. Though I didn't get to sleep in the aircraft (since it was leaving day), my sister and I got a wonderful tour of Jumbo Stay aircraft! What a wonderful place with an incredible host/owner!! Such a blast seeing it and looking forward to my next trip there so I can book an actual room on the Boeing 747!! One of a kind experience!! Highly recommend trying it out. Oh and definitely spring for the cockpit or the last room in the back. They are the coolest!

Easy to access with free shuttle (P3) and easy to spot from the road. Night was windy so the room (engine room) moved a lot. Felt like sleeping in a plane (but more comfortable). Fan was noisy and no wifi in the room but was fun experience

  • 3/5 Saphira S. 1 year ago on Google
Convenient airport hotel. Almost no staff, feels like a ghost town (quiet night is the silver lining). Rooms are very fun. But due to space limitations no table or dresser. Bathrooms are hostel standard, basic. Breakfast very basic, coffee tastes burnt, just yogurt, cold cuts, and white bread and some spreads... ELEVATOR BROKEN! We had 80kg of luggage... no fun

  • 4/5 Frank Y. 1 year ago on Google
A unique hotel converted from a retired airplane. The room is understandably small but gives you a feel of luxury because it's inside an airplane.

  • 2/5 Dianne Z. 1 year ago on Google
It’s just as much as you can expect from a hostel. The concept is cool but I’m taking stars off for the tiny rooms and inoperative elevator. It says hold until the door opens but you could hold it all night and it still wouldn’t open (yes im petty about the 3 heavy suitcases we had to carry up the stairs). Go for the experience and stay the night but I wouldn’t stay for much longer.

  • 3/5 Libi Canaparo G. 1 year ago on Google
Nice experience, the bedroom are nice but the only problem is about the maintenance. The bathrooms are not that clean, there are problems. And about the staff, there is no one is a bit complicated if you want to ask something. The wifi doesn’t work ! But I repeat the whole experience was nice .
