Great restaurant with great food. Staff is very friendly, wifi available too. The mutton vindaloo, mutton mysore, papadum and garlic naan were amazing! Nice spices on the mutton and hot crispy naan. Looking for great Indian food, look no further! 👌

This Indian restaurant has been here for ages. There was already a queue when I arrived at 6.25pm on a Wednesday. Food is good without question. The staff though busy is accommodating and helpful. Limited roadside parking right outside the restaurant. There is a HDB multi-storey car park about 5 minutes walk behind the restaurant.

We wanted to go to muthu’s but decided to try this place instead. To our surprise it was good. The roti is made upon ordering and the dry Mutton mysore was my favourite item from the menu. They had a decent size menu with plenty of food to choose from. As it was a weekend, there was of course plenty of people there. Getting parking nearby could be a challenge.

Really disappointed with the food. It tasted like frozen, overcooked Indian food put through the microwave. The dosas were bad, the dips also tasted store bought. The fish is dry / overcooked - we had to send it back. Lentils are meh. The sambar was thin, in the worst way. Naan bread is 1000% pre frozen. The only enjoyable dish is the jalla vegetable. They also randomly have a select of mee goreng on the menu, which makes zero sense. Service is non existent This place has tons of fake reviews. Please beware

Food was all really good. Worth a try! Especially their tandoori chicken and masala dosa. Service was also a 5/5, everyone was friendly and food came out quick as well 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Came here for lunch on a weekday, limited parallel parking lots along the road and the place was slightly packed. Food was tasty and delightful! Not a huge fan of Indian food but this one hits right. Servings were generous as well. Especially recommend the fish head curry.

Their fish head curry was superb! Very Delicious! Other fish head curry have annoying fish scales excess when you eat, but here, its clean and surprisingly not a single one. The service is very good , their manager was accommodating and the staff are polite. The food is quite pricey but it does compensate with the food taste.

Good food. Ok service. Their reputation precedes it. The food was good, but sad to say, not great. Service was friendly but a bit slow. Took more than 15 minutes just to get our drinks. Place is nice. Just a warning to avoid the tables behind the wine chillers (the big glass chillers in the middle of the room). They will get the hot air from the chillers. Not a pleasant experience.

Very accommodating staffs. Food is superb. Their chicken biryani's serving is too plenty for one. Make sure to have a big appetite before coming in. It is a bit too spicy for my taste as a not-fan of spicy foods. But overall, superb.

We had curry fish head, and vegetarian briayni. Authentic Indian food. Good serving portion. I like the service. Mallika gives economical recommendations, which I appreciate it very much. I will recommend this restaurant to foodies.

It has been ages since I did a review of any particular restaurant mainly because I have been busy and none as "inspired" me to do any. However *drumroll* ... after a meal at Gayatri, I needed to do it. The boss wanted to treat us to an end-of-year meal so we agreed on Gayatri. Made a reservation for today 13th Dec 2022 for lunch. Arrived to a nicely filled restaurant, there where other patrons but it doesn't feel crowded. We requested for a seat where it was sort of tucked in a corner as we can get a bit loud with our chattering and laughter (glad we did). While waiting for others to arrived, looked at the menu and here's my take, price wise was a teeny tiny bit more pricey I must say. And the selection didn't feel vast but that's not to say it was a small one either. I just thought that for a restaurant of that granduer, the menu would be larger I suppose. Oh well, there was still a decent selection for sure. Once everyone arrived, order our meal. Mainly had Briyani, mutton, chicken and fish. The briyani was served on a banana leave and it came in an individual pot with the meats nicely marinated in the pot with the rice. Tucked in and oh boy, it was absolutely wonderful. Really really flavourful. It's really to my liking where, the ingredients and herbs doesn't overpower your senses. It was just right. The briyani rice was separated and fluffy at the same time. Delish. The meats especially the mutton could be a bit more tender but hey, it was still marinated so so nicely. The fish was moist and flaky at the same time and the chicken was juicy, really it was that good. Then came the tandoori chicken and believe you me when I say that it was just heavenly with the minty dip. OMG, just wonderful. Seriously nothing else I can mention about the tandoori chicken except that it was the highlight of the meal. Whilst the meal was great, what makes this meal much much better was the lady and gentleman serving us. The lady was just a delight. She spoke in Tamil, Malay and English and that spike volumes. She was super attentive, accommodating and just super nice. That's a quality staff that restaurants need to strive to have. And the gentlemen, two of them in fact was wonderful too. Before we left they bother to ask how the meal went, how we felt about it and if we enjoyed ourselves. I guess the empty plates and glasses is a testimony of how enjoyable it was. All in all, would I recommend this place, definately! Just a bit sad that the lamb briyani is only in the Weekends. Nevertheless, it's important to note that any establishment will only be good with a combination of factors and not just the food alone. For once, Gayatri Restaurant got it right. Hopefully they keep to their standard. Good job! Food : 5 / 5 Staff : 5 / 5 Ambience: 4 / 5

The food is amazing! Briyani and veges keep flowing, and it's pretty much all you can eat. Clean place, very reasonably priced. Bhindi's were my favorite, never tasted anything like this dish unless it was a goat or lamb dish.

Best Indian food I’ve ever had. I am allergic to dairy, gluten and soy (yes I know, classic high maintenance American) and the staff was so helpful on finding food I could eat. Phenomenal and so flavorful. (Even though the most mild spicy was almost too spicy for me) thank you for the hospitality 💜

Sadly, the food I had here was mediocre. Butter chicken was dry on the inside, naan was dry and hard too. Squid rings were the frozen type. A far cry from the Gayatri restaurant of years ago. Service could be described as efficient but cold and awkward. Decor was quite nice, just a shame the food didn’t match.

Visit Date 4 Feb 2024 We visit Gayatri Restaurant whenever someone in the family is craving for Masala Dosa. Today the Masala dosa plate came with a crispy triangle of dosa stuffed with a tasty dullop of potato curry along with a side of red beetroot chutney, coconut chutney and onion chutney and a piping hot bowl of sambar, We also ordered a bowl of butter paneer and a plain naan. Gayatri's butter paneer is not exactly a Punjabi paneer but the naan dipped in the red gravy is heart-warmingly good and satisfying. On another visit, we have tried their Kothu Prata. It is spicy but not too hot. The mee goreng mutton with chichen 65 is a great combination and is worth a try Today we wanted to try some desserts as well. The Pista kulfi was surprisingly good. Not sure why I was not expecting it to be nice. Perhaps because their dessert menu is not that great. Loved the creamy pista kulfi!! Perhaps will try their rasmalai etc on the nexr visit too. Their staff is very friendly and attentive. Food arrived within the next 10 minutes of ordering and it was good food. The place is clean, well lit and nicely done up. What else to ask for really!

Great, authentic experience and meal at Gayatri restaurant. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken biryani and chicken masala dosa. Dishes came out fresh and quickly and tasted full of flavour. Would recommend!

There is room for improvement... The standard has dropped tremendously. I tried the food here during pre-CVD days and it was good. But when we came over for lunch on 9 Feb 2024, the food was just mediocre at best. Chicken [tandoori chicken] was hard and dry - felt like leftovers; the mutton [mutton curry] was so tough and full of tendon that it felt like it has been sourced from cheap cuts ...not to mention the portion is small and pricey. We paid SGD50 for 2 small portions and some naan bread. Seriously, there are other places that serve better Indian foods along Little India that give better value for your money...

Loved the atmosphere, my Thai friend said he felt like a maharajah when we came in. Ordered the butter naan, butter chicken, prawn masala, and chicken masala. We have tried many Indian food restaurants and this is by far the best. We will definitely come back. 😊

It was such an incredible Feeling trying Turkey Dum Briyani as it was fantastic ! Such a creative way to present a Thanksgiving dinner with an Indian twist ! Although we were hesitant at first to try, we were given the confidence by ur staff Mahesh to give it a shot. And truly it wasn’t disappointing at all! Recommended to visit here and get a taste of it. Just a small suggestion to perhaps switch the drink to dessert . That would make this set PERFECT !!!

I ordered the small fish head curry and it turned out to be huge for 2 pax. Fish was meaty and the Curry was very delicious but not as spicy as I wanted to. I was pleasantly surprised that the manager even offered his service to take away the leftover curry for me. Thank you! Will come back again!

Appam (SGD $6.50) @ Gayatri Restaurant. . This premium version is only available here from 3pm onwards, an oddity as it's usually eaten at breakfast; though having it for high tea makes sense. . Served with a default 2 pieces, their Appam is large, with a soft warm moist center and thin crispy lacy edges, having aromatic grainy sweet savoury salty flavour. . Served with grainy orange coconut sugar crystals, and a sweetened coconut milk dip, both of which lend a lovely addictive layer of sweet notes to the dish. Excellent even on its own.

Consistency in the way every dish is done. I have been to Gayatri rest @ race course rd umpteen times and it has always left a tasteful memory .... However I hv noticed some waiters/tress have an attitude & they can be rude at times. I hope every feedback shall be helpful. Cheers

Fish head curry is tasteless and no salt. Sweet rasmalai is so watery instead of creamy. Regret so much spent on tasteless food. Will never come again

Veg briyani lovely with masala tea. They do top ups too so prepare to be stuffed. Knocked a star off because aircon blast made long sit uncomfortable. But serving lady gave great vibe. 5 stars to her

Decent south Indian restaurant. Not expensive.. south India food was really good, surprise to see veg items were good in a non-veg dominated restaurant... not so good for north Indian dishes in my opinion.

We had a small class gathering at this Indian restaurant. The food was fabulous and authentic. We ordered the fish head curry and biryani set. The biryani set comes with generous helping of side dishes. The rice is free flow but with such huge portion of side dishes we couldn't ask for second helpings. We also have masala tea and it has lots of fragrance. We also ordered the kulfi ice cream for desserts to end our meal.

Monday motivation is girlfriend therapy, with a plant based die, at Race course Road 🤩😍 First time checking out this eatery at Little India. Girlfriend and I were impressed with the Thosai. The dish is made with good quality ingredients that we haven’t eaten elsewhere. The Appam was served in pretty shape. We wished our dessert had arrived later so the aircon wouldn’t had blown off the freshly made item. Will be back to savour our dishes. #myrita #newpossibilities #incredibleindia #singapore #happymonday

Definitely marking this as our regular eating place.

I was recommended this place for an authentic Indian meal and some great curries and did not disappoint. It is a big restaurant with kitchen on show so you can see the staff prepare teas, breads and some other dishes which is entertaining to watch. I was there on a weekday for dinner and It got quite busy and loud which made it a great atmosphere. I tried the dahl, okra curry, rava dosa and uttapatthum (excuse spelling). All had their own distinct flavours and spices. A little spicy but to my liking. Favourite was the rava dosa which was super crispy and came with 3 delicious chutneys. I finished with a pistachio kulfi which was a refreshing and sweet way to end the meal. Definitely recommend and will be back.

For an Indian restaurant to do well in Singapore's Little India, it must serve delicious authentic dishes. Gayatri is one of them. There are many locally unique dishes found here, such as the fish head curry. The curries are not too spicy hot. The restaurant is clean, ornate and big. The service is friendly.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gayatri Indian restaurant and it was truly a memorable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the cleanliness and comfort of the establishment. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with soft lighting and traditional decor that made me feel right at home. But the real star of the show was the food. We ordered a variety of dishes including butter chicken, aloo gobi, bindi masala, garlic naan and papadam. Each dish was bursting with flavor and spices that left my taste buds tingling with delight. The butter chicken was rich and creamy, with a perfect blend of spices that was not too overpowering. The aloo gobi was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning, while the bindi masala was bursting with flavor and aroma. The garlic naan was soft and fluffy, and the papadam was crispy and delicious. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food and the service. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Indian dining experience. If you're a fan of rich and flavorful food, this is the place to be!

Located on the outer fringes of Little India there’s a restaurant called Gayatri which I would consider to be a little gem of a place. There’s very much a friendly and vibrant atmosphere where waiters, waitresses are busy proffering the delights of traditional Indian cuisine whilst attending to the many patrons who visit here. The mutton biryanis, vegetarian curry and spicy noodles and fish combined with an array of exotic ingredients created a tongue-tingling flavor which can only be experienced with Indian cuisine. Our food was both exciting, intriguing and at times left you wondering what typical spices had been used to create such a dish, as you experienced what could be considered as a global combination of flavours much to our delight. The gayatri is most certainly a place to spend a rather gratifying evening with family and friends.

My favourite Indian restaurant in all of Little India. Delicious food, attentive service (especially by Sundar!) and great cleanliness. Our family visits Gayatri at least once a month or more.

  • 4/5 Linh N. 1 year ago on Google
Great food! We especially enjoyed the manchurian gobi and their garlic butter naan. Chicken masala and mutton vindaloo was good too. Minus star because: - They got our order wrong twice and in the end still gave us the wrong food. Bill came out for the wrong order and portion size as well. But all settled in the end so at least we didn’t have a very bad impression. - We didn’t like their hard sell on desserts after the meal.

Exquisite tastes of authentic South Indian cuisine. Veg meal is sublime, slowly cooked veggies, beautiful and fluffy rice very well finished off by enriching rasam. Gobi fry properly crisp. Very kind and attentive staff, no long wait for your meal.

This is my go-to resto when I crave for authentic Indian food. Food is really sumptuous, the paneer is highly recommended (we order this every time) and the briyani set is really delicious (i love the rice and the veggies!) and price is cheap! Service is also excellent as the staff are friendly and serving of food is quick. This is highly recommended all in all!
