New gym as of 18th March which shifted next to the swimming complex. They just renovated and replaced all the old machines with new ones in November 2018. The stepper, running and cycling machines now have a TV screen to simulate you running across various landscapes. The assortment of new machines will need getting used to, will recommend asking the trainers there for help. The new machines for training legs are better than the previous ones. There is a dance studio inside the gym. They also set aside a section for special needs and rehabilitation people to train with hydraulic machines. A playground for young kids, a table area for students to use their laptops. Only no food or drinks sold. Gym is located on the second floor up a flight of steps. Have to tap in and pay before getting in.

Checked out the gym on 31/10/2023. Like the gym as it is pretty empty around noon time. On the way out, i saw this sign. Glad didn't try to check it out on a day after 31/10/2023.

This is like the biggest public gym in Singapore. It overlooks the pools at Toa Payoh and you sometimes see swimmers, divers, synchronise swimmers train. I will miss it when they tear down the sports building to make way for a new sports venue. Most gym goers here are polite, willing to share equipments and mind their own business. Closes 31 Oct 2023

An upgrade from the old Toa Payoh gym. More equipments, bigger space to move and very friendly ActiveSG gym members. Will make it a point to visit often.

From one of the smallest to one of the biggest ActiveSG gym. A great gym overall. Very spacious with lots of equipment. But the changing room is small. Looks like there will be major redevelopment of the whole toa payoh sports complex including the swimming pool and stadium. Looking forward to it. But also mean this place might be torn down soon. Enjoy it while you can!

This gym has nice newer equipment than most. Lots of space and not too close together like other gyms. The swimming pool complex is large with two pools, one with high diving platform too!

Nice place to train but there is a male toilet cleaner who is very very rude ! Most of the time he doing gym and less work to clean the toilet. Once got any member went in to use toilet , he would show his angry face to those who were using the toilet. He is making toilet became only for his own use than for members need. Very very disappointed with such cleaner at the gym! 😑

Gym is great, however if you have any questions, please refrain from asking a young fit male that works at night during weekdays as if you are still unclear, he would reply rudely as if you had offended him.

Large and well equipped but one of the worst ActiveSG gyms in terms of gym atmosphere and culture, largely due to the high number of seniors who disrespect rules and everyone else. They work our without towels leaving benches drenching wet, and when told will fight back like a cornered beast and won't back down no matter what. Centre does absolutely nothing, leaving these ppl running amok. I have seen these seniors even going to other gyms yelling when told about towel requirement, why they should have one since they never had to at Toa Payoh. They also have a bald lifeguard coming to use the gym seeningly during his work hours in improper footwear, hogs up to 4 equipment at once!! Again, centre does nothing. Some corners of the gym does not receive AC so there are pockets that are uncomfortably warm. Shower cubicles are small and changing area outside showers even more so, forcing users to get uncomfortably close to each other while changing.

Nice place, cheap but the admins there are have some strict wierd rules, like how you cannot place your water bottle at certain areas so you need to walk back and forth or something. My gf also experienced some scolding from the lady security/admin there for some other β€˜breach of rules’ that I cannot remember. My gf might be emotionally biased but she also tells me the lady security like β€˜aiming’ her for faults everytime she gyms there haha.

Good gym. Very spacious and well equipped Equipment are quite heavily used and show signs of wear. This gym is a haven for powerlifters and powerlifter wannabes. Be prepared to share equipment and wait longer than usual. Heavy crowds every weekday evening and after school hours. Gym has: 2 x power rack with platform and bumper plates 1x conventional power rack 1 x standard bench 1x incline bench 2 x 2-20kg free weight dumbbell rack Spinning balcony Cardio machines Host of other cable machines Peak times: After school hours and weekday evenings

Spacious gym with decent equipment. However the weekday morning staff is quite rude and petty; he wanted to pull out the CCTV footage over a small issue.. which revolves around bringing a tote bag with valuables into the gym area. They are very strict about some weird rules, like...not bringing bags and water bottles in the gym area. So it might be good to check their set of rules out before going as it's not the same as the other gyms.

Nice equipment and spacious for workouts! But the admin staff are very rude, singling me out on multiple occasions over small matters that others in the gym were doing - Made a big fuss over matters as trivial as removing my shoes in non-matted areas. Equipment is good but not worth the displeasure of interacting with the staff

Very big and airy public gym with complete range of equipment including powerlifting cage/platforms, free weights and air pneumatic resistance machines for older folks. It is a great deal vs private commercial gym membership.

Pros: one of the best gyms in active sg I've seen. Adequate amount of thick mats. Lost of cardio machines. Very spacious. Unique machines not found in other outlets. Chairs and tables to have a rest. Cons: no lift to 2nd floor or maybe i didn't see it. You need to walk about 8 mins from mrt or take a bus.

Great equipment. Can't complain for the price. So far all the people I've met are very friendly and accommodating but it's a public gym so you never know. Suggest going in the afternoons when it's no so crowded.

Decent equipped gym. However, free weight bars tends to be hogged by young boys and the moment they hogged it, thats it. Its like their number 1 girlfriend for life. I ever finish my workout in an hour and the same group of boys were still at the same machine. 1 freaking hour! Not much sharing culture. Staff there are not the friendliest either. Young staff who will instead of doing his work, mingle and talk to the rest of his friends who are working out. All this are on weekdays morning 7 am.

Spacious gym with lots of equipment and machines, but the cashless payment mode can be a hassle for some people. There is space to put your personal belongings but be sure to keep your valuables on your person as the gym does not have proper lockers. One of the gym staff (bespectacled short hair lady in her 50s) is also pretty rude.

Good size but not enough barbell for compounding exercise. Should add more rack also. Environment needs to have more air flow. Men's toilet is old and doesn't flush. Please repair it.

Huge place, lots of equipment but it is a little warm at the gym. But they are doing a huge renovation for activesg, there will be other facilities there too. I hope to see this gym come back with new machines and a good aircon!

This is my favourite gym. I like the generous space, the vibe of the people and the convenient location. It's good to see so many young people and senior people working together. The people are friendly and willing to share the equipment. The vibe or the spirit of the gym is very good. The location is conveniently located in the hub of Toa Payoh, nearer to bus stop and mrt station. However the gym will be closed this October 2023 to give way to a greater development, but I hope they find a temporal place also conveniently located in Toa Payoh quickly while we wait for the completion of the greater development. My other suggestion is have more space to be allocated to the weight training area, versus the cardio exercise area, and to have more dumbbells.

Many gym equipments V(very)spacious 2nd floor (one of our Gov's biggest outlet operating gyms for public & seniors...promoting Healthy lifelong Healthy lifestyle). Customer services & gym staffs don't even a simple greeting, we took the initiative to says hello?! Cctv reflected :( Maybe don't bothered only few of us ( old new members just a short visiting) , or that particular Active SG staff having a bad morning πŸŒ„?( Of cos ....we don't expecting star treatments, but basic manners should be implemented or front-liner never teach or reminder to???

*Update: they are closing the gym for Reno works from 31 Oct 2023 onwards!* Pretty spacious and well-equipped (2 power racks and 2 deadlifting platforms) compared to other activeSG gyms I’ve been to 😊 crowd is manageable most of the time too β€” may have to share for 1-2 machines but def not a long wait. Really enjoying it so far!

I think this is the best ActiveSG gym in sg! The gym is large, spacious and has a high ceiling. But the aircon is either broken or weak, and doing cardio is very uncomfortable to breathe because it feels very stuffy and hot. Hope the aircon can be improve. And the guys changing room is so small, only 2 people can change clothes at one time. Please add some benches outside the changing room, at least people can change shoes outside.

  • 5/5 Arroyo S. 4 years ago on Google
For drop in to gym, you must pay down at the swimming pool ($3.30) and they will help you setup membership. Then pickup a towel from the vending machine for $2.50 just before the stairs up to the gym. Use your receipt to scan into the gym and the staff at desk can hold the ticket there for you to use it for exit after your workout. The gym is good value, the machines are all life fitness and very new (they even have rep counters). The squat racks and bench presses are very busy but the multitude of machines that are not heavily used will help you break up your workout without waiting. There are many young men working out here that I would encourage to keep the gym clean by picking up weights and putting them away (don’t be a bunch of lazy slobs). I would also encourage them to use another area of the gym for socializing, the squat racks are not a place for this so move along to a different area!

Machines and equipments are in a very wide variety that includes paralympic training and exercise-monitoring machines for the elderly and rehabilitating patients. The free weights area is jam-packed and the racks are frequently used by athletes with very long rest periods and high volumes.

Spacious gym! Recommended! But toilet size is not proportion to the gym capacity, and the shower facility is closed to date due to covid 19

  • 4/5 Kelias Q. 3 years ago on Google
Not a bad place to go from a simple workout, due to covid pre booking is needed and they allow up to 50 people per session. Safety distancing and preventive measure is well maintain. Overall good but hard to get an ideal time slot and it tends to get a bit crowded on one corner as most people tend to use free weights and muscle building machines.

  • 4/5 Lauren M. 3 years ago on Google
Pretty big and well equipped for a public gym. There are 2 lifting platforms with bumper plates and 1 squat rack. Pity there are quite a few restrictions (eg no usage of any type or form of chalk, no moving barbells from the platform to do other exercises, etc). Overall a rather good public gym.

  • 4/5 HC Y. 3 years ago on Google

Ample parking, well maintained machines with alot of variety. Clean and lotsa space too. Only slight cons are there aren't enough bench press machines, eg Smith Machine and also booking a slot here (due to COVID-19) is difficult if u can't wake up early.

Nice new gym. Equipments are state of art. Better than private gym. However staff there needs more training. They are not helpful and no orientation given to first timers who don't know how to use the machine. Even when you enquire, they hesitate to show you.
