😐 Quite interesting vegetarian japanese food option! Loved the teriyaki chicken. Soba was not too bad, expected taste. Sashimi was a miss for me though.. tasted like jelly with fish smell. Hotpot was still ok too. Think we didnt order the right menu though. Would be back again to try their sushi but... People often mention vegetarian, Japanese, good, sushi, restaurant, taste, vegan, nice, delicious, time,

I absolutely love it 🤤 This is one of those vegetarian places that makes you go wow, the ability to innovate mock meat and replicate the taste via vegetables is a feat on its own. 🍣 the crab maki was one of the best flavoured and textured sushi I ever had, rivalling my favourite really closely - the flavours hit you with each bite, from sweet to salty to spicy, followed closely by the soft and later crispy texture! Though it’s pricey at $18, it would be a dish I would crave very often now.. 🫖 this tea pot soup was a surprised find too - in fact we canceled our soup and order this since we wanted to eat light. The soup was amazingly flavoured considering there’s only mushrooms in there, and the portion of mushroom and mock meat in there is generous as well, a must try! 🐠 as I’m allergic to fish, I have to try mock meats when I’m at vegetarian restaurants, and this is a great one! Definitely pair it with the red ginger towards the end else it becomes surfeiting. Overall, it’s one of those places I leave in disbelief because of how well the food were - count on me returning just for this! 👍🏻

Never in my life have I experienced this Went for dinner today and had a salad. Almost bit into a live beetle in the salad. As if that was not bad enough, when we inform the staff, she told us that it is ‘ORGANIC’ and offered no remedy. It was only when we raise it to another staff that we got the dish taken away. Even then, there was absolutely no service recovery - and the offer of another dish of organic salad was quickly rejected by us If Herbivore is indeed offering such exotic organic products (I.e insects), they should include it in the ingredients or on their website clearly for all patrons Extremely disappointing birthday celebration

Amazing Japanese vegetarian restaurant! It's located in Fortune Center and unless you are doing takeaway, this place gets full very quickly on the weekends so call ahead to get a place in the queue. Even with a place in the queue, it took us 15 minutes before a table opened up for us. The restaurant has a huge menu and they, very thoughtfully, label the dishes as either dairy or dairy-free so it is easy to pick all the vegan dishes. We ordered seven dishes for four people and were full by the end as the portion sizes are generous. The food is flavorful and you forget, especially with the fried dishes, that there is no meat in any of them.

First time dining here and got to say this is one of the better vegetarian food I ate before that taste like real meat. Highly recommended the “Unagi” sushi and “fish” and chip! The bacon asparagus was good too as it was smoky, but I felt that the “bacon” could be thinner. Food is served fast but it would be better if service staff smiles more.

This was my first time dining in a Japanese restaurant. Amazing vegetarian restaurant! It's located in Fortune Center and it gets full very quickly on the weekends. They have unique concept where almost every thing is vegetarian but it looks and taste exactly like non vegetarian. It has a huge menu and you cand order food online using tab provided at the table. We ordered 5-6 items and all very delicious. Quantity and quality both are good here. Staff is also very polite. I surely recommend this place if you are crossing or live nearby.

Ordered 3 dishes (see pictures) n 1 iced water n bill comes up to $58+. V pricey -1*. Drizzle on all 3 dishes r d same. Drizzle is sweet. Prefer savoury to sweet. Restaurant is noisy as it's packed. Wait staff need to learn to approach diners on their right, n not left n right at their whims n fancies. I feel quite disturbed. They have been walking ard to check on d diners, they don't top up water glasses unless u tell them to -1*. They shd also use different types of glasses to differentiate iced/warm water so they needn't ask each time. Otherwise, please listen more carefully to "please refill my iced water." d giant vase of pandan leaves at cashier counter looks spectacular but come to think of it, it's v wasteful when cashier told us all d leaves will b discarded n replaced with new ones approximately weekly 😱

When we relocated from UK to Singapore one of the cuisine we were craving for was Ramen. We never thought finding a good Vegetarian Ramen would be so difficult in Singapore. Every time we enquired about a vegetarian ramen we were highly disappointed. We tried Ippudo (just because Ippudo was the reason why we fell in love with this cuisine in UK) but the Ramen they served was completely opposite of our expectation. Finally we found herbivore and the Veg Ramen they serve is exactly the one we were looking for. The taste was really good and we were very satisfied with it. We also tried gyoza and edamame and they were good as well. Overall a very good experience and now we know where to go if we are craving for veg Ramen.

First time eating at a Japanese vegetarian restaurant. I’m normally a meat eater so I’m quite impressed with the quality of the food and how they managed to mimic the taste of meat. Would come here again to dine with my vegetarian companions! Better to book early as they get crowded during meal times!!

Herbivore is the type of restaurant that you go when there's a special celebration 🥳 with friends or family, well because the food is unique and really good, but it's also pricey 💸. The food is really top notch for a vegetarian Japanese restaurant and I would say they are the best in sg 🇸🇬 for Japanese 🍣 vegetarian. However, for the price you would expect that they serve at least service water 🥛 and paper napkins 🤧, but they don't. It's a pity, but don't let it stop you from enjoying the food!

Wife brought me in here, I must say hidden gem. The place the moment you enter changes your perspective. Ambiance is quite awesome, staff is very attentive. Tons of food options to choose from we really liked the soup. A bit pricy but I think that worth the service and food you get on table ;) must mention that staff keep an eye and refill your water before you know it. We went on a weekday during lunch time and were able to get a seat but I would assume it would be hard to get during weekends.

Good vegetarian Japanese food! The set portions are quite large and definitely could have been shared amongst two people. The tempura was fresh and the soba broth flavorful. Ended up spending around $40 per person here

A very good vegan Japanese food place. Highly recommend for vegan friends. The food we ordered wes so tasty, especially the vegan version of unagi sushi, the taste was really good, can't figure what was it, but it was made from a type of seaweed. Would like recommend the tea pot soup, really has that umami, put the lime in the pot and slightly poke the lime in the soup, the lime peel smells so fresh when you pour our and drink it. Lovely!

3rd time here. Food is still as good as before. Japanese vegetarian store that actually serves really good food. Prices are on the more expensive side, but I think they are worth the amount I'm paying. Really good place to bring non-vegetarian people to. Would recommend trying their vegetarian sashimi and crab maki.

Foods are nice but a bit too much sauce which loses the natural food taste. We are a group of 5 and ordered a pot of tea but they wouldn't give me one more cup, which is unreasonable and not flexible. The teriyaki chicken is overcooked and the charred parts taste bitter. Overall the chicken is dry and texture is just like taro sheets.

I am not a vegetarian and usually find vegetarian a bit plain and lacking in that dimension of flavour. However, I enjoyed the food at herbivore. Plus point is that it is jap. One hardly finds a jap veg restaurant. I love the maki especially the avocado ones. Superb plating, great taste. Ramen broth is packed with flavour. Loved the mushrooms in the broth. Spring noodles. Though I must say I missed having an onsen egg..haha ramen without egg feels different. Grilled king mushroom was a bit too sweet for me. The sauce overwhelmed the natural flavour of the mushroom. 2 ramen, 2 maki and a mushroom is about $95.

Delicious vegetarian food! Herbivore is a Japanese vegetarian restaurant that serves up various dishes like starters, bentos, sushi, noodles, rice dishes etc. Their food taste quite close to the real deal. Especially the "unagi". It really taste like unagi! The tempura is delicious, doesnt have the old oil taste. Even the "crab" sushi is yummy, but the sushi roll filling is boring and plain. Iirc it was only cucumbers. The cha soba soup is delicious! Portion is decent, tummy get filled fast due to high carbs content. Those on diet should give this place a miss. As this is definitely a treat instead of everyday food. Price is on high side as well. Can get crowded during weekends and weekday evenings. Great for both small and big groups to share. Atmosphere was noisy due to crowds. Couldnt hear my friends while they spoke. But overall great food and experience! :)

Excellent vegetarian Japanese food but slightly expensive. We visited on a rainy weekend PM and the aircon inside was very strong. Thankfully, we warmed up once the food came! We tried: Gyoza - loved the sauce Spicy ramen - fav out of all ramen Ramen - decent Avocado sushi - decent Agedashi tofu - decent Natto - decent All good are true to pictures And love their monstrous Pandan at the cashier

Really delicious Japanese food. The skewers in particular were great, could scarcely tell that they were vegetarian. Satisfyingly meaty and charred. Didn't manage to try their sushi or ramen, but will definitely come back again! Everything that we tried tasted pretty good.

Four stars for the creativity shown through its vegetarian offerings. Dishes were mostly delightful in flavour and it does excite your taste buds in guessing the exact ingredients. Room for improvement in service and the waitress mentality of trying to rush and maximise their seating. While it is understandable for a business, such stiff rules can put off customers and lose the big picture.

sashimi was interesting but bad, tasted kinda chewy, like konjac/gelatin avocado and unagi maki were nice spicy ramen set was nice, and likely miso based. gyozas were okay, but lacking in filling overall, overpriced and carb heavy, but a fascinating eat!

I ate here 4 months back and i had a very good impression of the food. I finally found the time to come back today but was really disappointed. The 2 salads (tofu and raddish) i ordered last time tasted exotic but was completely different this time round. We ordered 4 soba soup and the base were really salty and the curry tasted more indian than japanese. I was hoping to influence my kids to start vegetarian as i thought this place would give a good start but i think it would be difficult to convince them to take another chance at it:(

First time visiting this restaurant. Pretty nice ambience with a little Japanese twist. Was surprise on how vegetarian food can be creatively prepared and still pleasing the palate. Though not a vegetarian myself, highly recommend to those who wants to plant for a vegetarian meal with friends or families.

Thoroughly impressed! What. My friend and I went and picked a couple of items to try. The salmon was interesting, I think wouldn’t say it is the greatest and that I would get it again, probably not. There is better satisfaction from other dishes on the menu. The two rolls were really good. One was the eel roll and the other was floss. Both were very tasty. Also got the curry udon and that was okay okay… was the most excited about the 2 rolls! The chicken bites were also really good Environment This is in a quite old building, very close to bugis junction and the station. There are a lot of other restaurants inside. The space in the restaurant is quite small.. the ordering is through an iPad so there is no pressure on ordering. Niceness of the staff Very minimal interactions with the staff but the interaction I encountered was indifferent Dollar It was a little on the nice side. For me it isn’t a daily lunch or dinner. Yes? I would return to try other items

Tasty vegetarian restaurant. My first time having vegetarian salmon sashimi! It looks pretty close to real fish sashimi. Taste interesting. Not fishy. The prices are terribly expensive though. As high as dining in a decent japanese restaurant. In my opinion, as tasty and visually appealing as they may be, this restaurant is overpriced.

Ever since I had this vegan sushi 2 years ago, I have been thinking about it regularly! So excited to finally be back to try it again and it was just as delicious as I remembered! Ask for vegan, the menu shows non dairy and service staff is very helpful! Yes it's a bit pricey but worth it! $14/sushi but it's really great quality with exceptional taste! Highly recommend and will always visit when I'm in the area!

It is very difficult to find good Japanese vegetarian food. But this restaurant is not just about serving a few sushis. They have a menu of over 100 items - all vegetarian. Spoilt for choice. And very good quality. I have been here a few times already, and continue to be a regular here.

This evening was the second visit in 3 weeks. The first time round was quite impressed by the sashimi set. The pieces looked very much like the real things. And smelled liked as well. But the texture and taste were similar. Suchlike a piece of ika would taste like sake or maguro. There seem to be something missing in the bento. The bento sets in regular Japanese restaurants seem to be loaded with more stuffs. What I did not like was that Herbivore does not give out napkins or wipes. I find that unacceptable for a restaurant Service was quick and they took us in without any reservations.

Am currently on vegetarian and have been searching for new dining options, so Herbivore a few times on Google Map but didn't get a chance to try it. And so my first experience in Herbivore was great! The salmon sashimi is very interesting, it really feels like sashimi and the gyoza was great too! I had Katsu Curry and curry was pretty good, with a hint of Indian spice in it. The Katsu was very filling, along with the rice and potatoes (really carb overload). Tried a piece of unagi and it was interesting too. Great place and highly recommend this, but do make reservations in advance or you might have to wait for awhile. (Alternatively come after 8pm!)

Pros: the food is delicious esp the sushi-rolls plus the fact that Japanese vegetarian food is not as common here in Singapore. Cons: the whole dining experience is quite a harried affair (We started dining at 5.15pm). Although there were only 3 of us, we do feel that our group size is bigger with the staff hovering around us, prompting us to place our orders, clear our plates once food content is emptied at 85% or more. To conclude, it's the place to go once in a blue moon when there's craving for Japanese vegetarian. Note: the food is not cheap. Won't recommend for leisure meal with friends.

Over all ok, though Katsu curry tasted like Saravana bhavan sambar it went well with Japanese sticky rice. Ramen and gyoza set was pretty good but no where close to Ts Tan Tan in Japan. Worst part is they charge you 50cent for a glass of water.lol

I tried the spicy ramen and crispy maki rolls. Spicy ramen set was yum and easy 4 star. Maki rolls were 3-4 star. Bit pricy specially for the decor. $0.5 charge for tap water is a bit rude. If just for food I will go often but other factors put together deserves only once in a while visit.

If you're looking for vegetarian japanese food, this is probably your place to go. Had the spicy ramen and gyoza, and both were very tasty. The vegetarian sushi was nice, and my friend loved the cold soba noodles. Crunchy tempura as well.

A must try for vegetarians. Food is great. We got the feeling of being rushed up. This is one of the restaurants you come, eat quickly and leave! Dining is about an hour long affair. Not memorable, but enjoyable.

The katsu curry sets were delicious. I tried something else the second time I visited and it was not so good. It helps to know some Japanese food terms. The service and ambiance were fine though they could use some improvement.

Was amazed to see that vegetarian sushi could taste so good! Tried the California, Cheese, Unagi Maki and none of them disappointed. Tucked into the Fortune Center, which houses many other vegetarian restaurants also, Herbivore tries to mimic the Japanese aesthetics with minimal decor, spotlights over the dining tables, and ceramic trays. I highly recommend this place for vegetarians to get a feel of Japanese cuisine.

1st time trying this place & it’s not bad if you’re vegetarian. Price is on the higher side. Unagi Sushi: Actually sushi rice by itself does not have any meat so they taste like typical sushi you get elsewhere. The unagi was made from fried tofu. Katsu curry: Curry tasted like a thick Indian curry. Don’t have the sweet Japanese curry taste. A bit disappointed. Portion was huge tho & katsu was crispy. The katsu is kinda like mock luncheon meat. Goma ramen: Noodles were those bouncy yellow noodle. Soup was ok, light sesame taste. Karage: very crispy and a lil hard. made from beancurd so there’s a pretty strong taste. Edit: 2nd time here and brought my family. Food still as good! Recommend to come and try!

Food is really good and we were so impressed at how close it tastes to non-vegetarian Japanese food. The star is the unagi roll - I wouldn't be able to tell it's not real unagi meat. We also really like the salmon sashimi, gyoza and soba. Overall an excellent option for vegetarians. Service is good and attentive as well.

One of the very few Vegetarian Japanese Restaurants in Singapore. The foods are really beyound my expectations. I went with my sister who is vegetarian since birth. She was a bit skeptical about Japanese foods going vegetarian. After a bit of effort to convince her, we finally tried the dishes. The foods were amazing and the staffs were very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend "Herbivore" for vegetarian Japanese dishes. It's worth to visit with family and friends for delicious and yummulicious vegetarian Japanese dishes.

Novel Japanese vegetarian food. The rolls were quite good. Need to be selective on the menu as food quality wasn’t all that consistent. Go for the popular items eg mushroom dishes. Feels too carbo centric in the end. More of a novelty factor.

Good Vegetarian Japanese fare and reasonably priced. However it is always crowded during weekends.. and i recommend to get a reservation beforehand. One thing that irritated me was that they charge 50c for a glass of plain water which I think is unnecessary.

First time here after many good reviews by friends. Very good Japanese Vegetarian food. Ordered the Unagi Maki ($15), Tempura Soba ($19) and Goma Ramen ($13). Ambience okay. Service was pretty good. The staff were prompt and attentive. Highly recommended for vegetarian out there.

Totally forget I’m eating vegetarian at all 😄 taste good service good and food also good but a bit pricey for 2 person at $56? Maybe it is the standard price for vegetarian I not sure , but portion is very filling la anyway u wanna try vegetarian can try here , really quite nice . Ordered those below n Japanese tofu (not so soft type), and 2 plain water 😋😋😋Must order the middle one

Loved the unique take on vegetarian sushi and I was in awe of how they made each dish. It’s hard to get a table but you can reserve in advance. The enoki pork was my favourite dish because of the similarity in flavour and texture. I would definitely come back for the unagi maki as well. The cheese shiitake was a bit sticky maybe due to the type of cheese used but I love shiitake mushrooms and so it was delicious nevertheless. We also tried the crab meat maki and it was a 💯 very really taste/texture/flavour.

Once you eat here you realize why this has a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand for several years in a row despite being a vegetarian restaurant. Really amazing place with a fully vegetarian menu that brings alive Sushi- Sashimi, Bento and Noodle soups from the Japanese cuisine in vegetarian form... The tastes are very exquisite, very original and very close to the real tastes of some of these dishes which are meat based. It's a wonder how the chef has delivered them in a vegetarian format. Definitely recommend!

If you're a meat / sashimi lover, this place will blow your mind as everything is made from plant but you might not be able to tell. Highly recommend all the rolls on their sushi range and if you're feeling hungry, the bentos offer a good variety at a large portion. Always enjoy dining here, good service, friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend!

The restaurant is crowded and there isn’t anything zen with all the crowd and noise. Price wise a bit high compared to similar restaurant. Nevertheless, the service is good and the food is delicious. The noodles and nice and fritters are good too. A little exotic since it is vegetarian with modern Japanese twist.

  • 3/5 Gopi B. 10 months ago on Google
I ordered the ramen with miso soup and the avacado sushi. The ramen was a disappointment and there was no miso soup taste at all. The ramen was rather bland. It was also rather pricey for less than mediocre vegetarian ramen. Thankfully the avacado sushi made up for the tasteless ramen. The service was good but the ambience of the restaurant was rather gloomy. Would I go back again? A definite no since you do not get any value for your money.

  • 4/5 Kiranjit J. 10 months ago on Google
Highly recommended this Japanese vegan restaurant. The best vegan sushi I have tried and a great comparison to the Wagamama Katsu Curry. The atmosphere was great, it's a nice venue but they close on time so you can feep a little rushed. I think that's just Singapore in general and I'm used to places staying open for the customer in the UK.

I was lucky to score a table for 2 on a Sat evening as I've been looking forward to this place that serves Japanese vegetarian. What really underwhelmed me was the shitake maki which was essentially just a cucumber roll with a quartered shitake top and a dollop of mayo. It was lackluster to say the least and did not justify the price tag given how basic the dish was. More effort could be made to spruce it up with strips of pickled daikon, burdock and beetroot to add colour and texture and crispy seaweed crisps with sesame to top it off. The creativity in this is simply endless.. Coming to the nitty gritty, I thought that they could also serve us each a piece of serviette when laying down the chopsticks. A bit stingy eh. Their take on salmon sashimi was unique as a squeeze of lemon and dash of soy sauce did bring out the flavour of the real thing. The udon soup and cold chasoba were faultless. Being a semi vegetarian and occasional vegan, my quest to seek out the next modern vegetarian joint continues..

This place leaves me craving for more! It’s not the most affordable of vegan / plant-based sushis available, but the quality is always superb. They have quite a number of very delicious looking items with dairy unfortunately so I always feel a “FOMO” whenever I dine in here. The only dish I have a hard time recommending is really their gyoza. Otherwise everything, especially their ramen, is really good 😋 It’s highly encouraged to get a reservation if you intend to dine here. The number doesn’t seem to be reachable but I was able to get a spot by sending a line on their Facebook page!

Ordered the avocado roll, king mushroom and dobin mushi. Food tasted nice and service was prompt. It was very noisy in the interior and can make conversations tough. Some food items can be a bit pricey but probably what you would expect from a restaurant. Location can be hard to get to during rainy days though staff offered plastic bags for umbrella.

  • 3/5 Anya C. 9 months ago on Google
Service staff were excellent. Love that there’s a Japanese vegetarian place but the food was subpar, esp for the price point. Had the tempura cold udon and gyoza. Fried items were v oily and the flavours / seasoning was a bit off. Texture of the gyoza skin was also hard.

  • 4/5 Lagna D. 9 months ago on Google
4 star for great items and 1 star less for hurried service Nice attentive folks . They gave us quick seats and helped us with our meals. Also were kind enough to cancel couple of orders last min as we over ordered for our group. Food was good , flavorsome. Some dishes like gyoza and katsu curry was yum. I didn’t find the avo sushi so great but others enjoyed it . Will go back for katsu curry and gyoza in our next visit What we truly didn’t enjoy was the rushed service . It was written somewhere by 845 pm last order and 930 pm they shut down. By 825 we were almost expected to order in and finish our meals. The attendant started pushing the bill and we ate hurriedly and were done by 855pm. Not sure why the timings have been specified if we were expected to leave within 55 mins for a group of 4 on a sat night Meal for 4 cost us 150$ .. felt pricey for a not so great ambiance. Order a delivery / pick up for a comfortable experience

Tasty (but not superb) alternative vegtarian menu, But... price is expensive (minus star). Its a Small place and crowded during meal time, suggest u make a reservation before goin for meal. Service is okay. I wld say all is good, but price is a turn off for the dinning experience.

  • 4/5 Pauline T. 7 months ago on Google
The vegetarian food are very delish! Like the soup udon or ramen or Teriyaki rice bowl and cheese mushrooms! And the vegan meats taste even better than real meat! They serve very fast too!

  • 4/5 Lying C. 8 months ago on Google
The order is quick, you do it on a tablet. The restaurant is always busy but both times we got seats for family. The ramen is not bad but not the best I've tried. Sushi s decent but again not the best I had tried. If there are no other options I would visit again.

  • 3/5 Rayant Y. 6 months ago on Google
I rarely have Vegetarian meals but because my clients were on a Vegetarian diet that day, we decided to try this Japanese Vegetarian Restaurant. Initially, my thoughts of vegetarian food was made of mock meat which is terrible to my digestive system. However, they used plant-based ingredients to make the meat tasted soft and delicious. i will likely go back to other similar Japanese Vegetarian restaurants in the future.

  • 5/5 Ruii A. 5 months ago on Google
Highly recommend the vegetarian sashimi, cheesy shikitake, cold soba, crab sushi. The shabu is normal. Their unique sodas are refreshing! Definitely visiting again!

  • 5/5 SC S. 5 months ago on Google
Avocado Maki, wow, full of surprises. Love the small detail like the sprinkle of black seasame to add the frgrant when u bite into it. The sauce adds the vinegary sourness to enhance the taste. Yaki Gyoza, the filling is mock meat and mushroom. Not oily, nice texture to bite into it, love the mushroom fragrant and taste. Grill Shitake, not bad, a little dry, don't really recommend.
