Great place for eating. Plenty of shop s are open the whole day, and lots of people comes here to have lunch / dinner. The choice is vast, and everything is quite cheap. You can find dishes from all other Asia, especially some dishes from Singapour. Some shops are quite famous, but I've never tried them yet. The Thai restaurant at around 1-90 does an incredible pad Thai, and the the Chinese one at 1-76 is also great. The choice of beverage is quite vast, lots of shop offer them. No "big firm" here, everything seems to be run by families.

One of the famous Hawker Centres in Singapore. I came to try out the famous Hawker stalls that are located within the center and they did not disappoint! Definitely recommend going early as to not wait in long lines/queues. Tip: Bring your own napkins!!! This was my first trip to Singapore and I've noticed that 98% of restaurants do not have napkins, so BYON, bring your own napkins.

This is a restaurant center with many restaurants to choose from and prices are friendly for tourists. The price is not too expensive. There are many restaurants to choose from and the food tastes good. There are a lot of seats and the place looks very clean.

If you're looking for one of the best hawker experiences, come here. You'll get a variety of cheap and delicious dishes for cheap prices. My advice is to come with a friend or two, so you can share the food. Better yet, come more than once so you can sample more of Singapore's culinary delights. You won't be disappointed!

A good place with the combination of street food! Both local and international food choices(mostly local and chicken rice ) :D We came in the New Year so there were tons of people and very long queues for Hainan chicken rice and hard to find table. Many shops were closed as well. We were waiting for an hour to get our rices haha. The food was okay :) Maybe next time we can try more food

Great variety of good food at cheap prices! Tourist and family should check out all the nearby hawker centres situated in Chinatown. Not just a combination of local delights, there's also a mixture of interracial and country food.

Our first meal at 🇸🇬 and had to go to the most famous of them all Chicken rice stall at Maxwell Food Centre. The late Anthony Bourdain says the rice is so good and it is true!! You can taste the yumminess of each grain of rice 🍚 The line lining up for it is testament to how popular this is to the locals. There is also other yummy food here as well from the oyster 🦪 omelette to the refreshing sugar cane drinks. Really good value and don’t forget to bring your own tissues!!

Nice food court with lots of local food options. The two chicken rice restaurants are both good. Overall the price is slightly higher than other food court but the portions are bigger as well.

Absolutely loved it here & returned multiple times for breakfast and dinner. Great choice of foods, much cheaper than restaurants in Singapore and quality is excellent. In particular we had some fantastic hainanese chicken and prawn curry laksa. Prices aren't more than a few Singapore dollars and you can easily find tasty juices while you're here. Always busy and open reasonably late compared to other spots. Recommend!!

Newly constructed Maxwell MRT station located conveniently outside Maxwell Food Center. Cleanliness of the food center has improved throughout the years although this place might be due for a major renovation. Been visiting here since I was a kid and it never fails to disappoint me with the variety of good food. Quite sad to see some of the old stall owners getting too old and retiring or even closing their stalls for good. Young Singaporeans need to preserve this hawker food culture. I’m sure I’ll visit this place again and again.

I like the chicken rice from Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice. I ordered the Chicken Thigh set which is so yummy. The meat is so tender and fresh. The Curry Chee Cheong Fun is just ok. The Dou Pok and Wu Xiang is crispy and tasty. The chilled coconut drink made me cooler after drinking. It was such a sunny day that made me sweat a lots. I definitely will come another day to try out more food at Maxwell Food Centre !

You can find the best local treats here for a cheap price. It’s not fancy (tables are plastic and you’re seated outside essentially), but it’s well worth trying!

For me, this is the perfect place if you want delicious, high-quality food for little money. Portions cost 6-8-10 S$, juices 2.5, coconut 3, and beer 6$. You can pay by card or cash. It is located right across from the metro station of the same name. Here you can find over 50 oriental cuisines. There are three rows of food stalls, I suggest you visit all the rows before choosing. There are separate stands for buying various drinks and squeezing juices. I recommend this place.

I went there twice during my most recent visit in SG. This is definitely a really popular place for tourists (and maybe for locals, too?) who wants to eat meals at a cheaper price. This place has a number of food stalls selling a variety of dishes. It was quite crowded when I visited it, one for a late lunch, and another for dinner. It is readily accessible thru the nearby bus stop and MRT station (Brown Line). A person may spend ~6-12 SGD for a decent meal, more if he/she will buy additional drinks. Serving size is usually good for 1 person. Main mode of payment is cash, but many stalls do accept QR codes and credit/debit cards as well.

Always go there for the 五香。so nice and some items are only unique for this stall. The standard for the dumping has dropped but still same owner.

Felt the food has taken a slight dip after the covid pandemic. Nonetheless a great variety of food is still present with long queues at the more famous stalls.

Had a breakfast here, I thought there would be a lot of options. But at 8 am most restaurants were still closed. We finally had this noodle and pork rice, tasted so yum & rich. People were nice. Should go here around 9-10am when all restaurants are open.

A local hawker centre that became a tourist attraction for many. But unlike the other famous hawker centre this still has the taste of local flavour. With the use of actual utensil instead of Styrofoam disposables, the food still tastes of home. Wide variety of food and quality famous ones indeed! Weekend crowds are horrendous and queues go all the way to another building. Sharing tables may be a need so please dine and leave so the other patrons can enjoy the good food too! :)

One of the hawker centers that is worth visiting. The location is not far from China Town. This Hawker center is quite large and sells a variety of food. If you want to visit, come around 11 o'clock, so that all the stalls are open. We ordered laksa and it was very delicious, with thick sauce and quite a variety of toppings. We also bought some fried foods, the fried bananas were delicious. The Chicken Rice we ordered was not that special, I tend to like chicken rice at other shops. I also like the fried guotie, it has lots of filling, the outside is crispy and the inside is juicy. The Orange Yakult we ordered at the Juice stall was also refreshing. Standard Hawker Center prices.

Had some really good dumplings. There's different varieties and the owner is very friendly. I had the crispy sort and it's better than expected. There's also no queue because it's a new stall. Prices are reasonable and cheaper than food courts.

It’s coldplay week, maxwell food centre really really crowded to the point it’s stressful. Plan to eat Tian Tian at first but seeing a really long Queue we decided to eat something else. We ate at Maxwell chicken rice and I like it to the point wondering if the maxwell chicken rice already delicious could be tian tian be more delicious? 🤣 We also ate duck noodle that I forgot the name places. Lot variety of food, if it’s not overly crowded it surely will be a delicious journey.

Classic hawker centre in the tanjong pagar area. Decent food with some famous stalls here, notably the chicken rice ones. But dont limit yourself to those, try the other stalls too, like the wu xiang one, tze char and chinese gyoza stall. All reasonably good. Lost quite alot of the crowd since the pandemic started but that means you get your food faster and with less people to deal with.

Had the famed Tian Tian chicken rice alongside fried oyster cakes. Chicken was still silky smooth and rice still fragrant. Due to the pandemic, crowd was significantly lesser and managed to order in 15 minutes. Plenty of places to sit as well in the hawker centre. Lots of other famous stalls to try too!

When in Singapore, going to a hawker Centre with friends is a great idea as you get to try as many of the local food. The dishes were the right portion as well. The food was also quite delicious and varied. I got to have carrot cake and fried kway teow.

We had lunch here with our two kids (12 and 10) and had the hainanese chicken (the famous one) and some Indian food. We had to wait in line for a bit but it was so worth it. For a very small price, we had a great meal and are considering coming here again.

Lots of good food at this food centre and is very popular with office crowd and tourist who walk over from Chinatown. Tried the fried fritters set D and green bean soup, both were delightful and nice. The tiantian lai chicken rice is a crowd favourite. Very local, very Singapore.

Not our first time at Maxwell Food Centre, but was definitely surprised to see how packed with tourists it is on weekends during lunch - undoubtedly one of the more famous hawker centres in the heart of Singapore. Seeing the snaking queues for chicken rice and other famous stalls, we decided to opt for other options and was glad I did. The Sisaket Thai Food was 4.5 ⭐️- although the basil chicken and prawn omelette wasn’t wow, the price was decent and it is something I can eat daily. Coffee queen also serves up good drinks at a generous serving, an easy 4.5 🌟 too!

Came with my partner based on a recommendation. There is every kind of food you can imagine here. i ended up getting dumplings with red oil , and steamed buns. Both were excellent. Also got a coconut drink. Place was cool, but was a bit chaotic for my liking. Would still go back.

Been here twice and it's always super crowded. Try to come early or late, but not during lunch hours (or dinner) or you'll have to compete with the crowds for seats. That said, the food here is really good! We've tried different hawker stalls and haven't been disappointed yet. Interesting drinks are also being sold here. You'll never run out of options. There's also an MRT that stops right next to it called Maxwell, so I suggest stopping there instead of Chinatown if you don't want to walk long distances.

I have tried hawker centers in singapore and i was ok with them especially the satay by the bay which is number 1 on my list. This maxwell center is the one that i would not recommend. I dont think it's clean. The food was fishy, the roasted pork tasted old, etc. we ordered a lot and the only thing that I liked was the oyster cake/pancake. Sorry.

Maxwell Food Center. Bak Chor Mee. Other than the great tastes and texture of the food, the service and poetry of movements of the chef is a sight to see. The store is clean and process efficient. The food? A classic example of Fishball Bak Chor Mee, the noodles cooked to perfection, the fish balls are soft with the quintessential snap when you bite into them. The broth is light with a surprising rich taste.

Plenty of cheap & good food. One particular stall is a shop selling dumplings called 同心居. The fried & steamed dumplings are really good with the piping hot sour soup. Another recommendation is the Beijing noodles...serve with thick gravy, really savory. Followed them from the old Margaret Drive hawker centre

  • 5/5 PAUL G. 3 years ago on Google
The famous Tian Tian chicken rice used to be many favourite.. Now I've noticed that many chicken rice stalls offering same or even better with better pricing. Now during the pandemic, we need to help the small stalls. They suffered badly.. The famous stalls already have more than enough..

This is a great venue. Lots of food smells in the air. The streets are lively with food seekers. We came here last night to have some of Singapore’s best street food. Being in Chinatown, the shop-house restaurants offer a diverse range of mainly Chinese, local Singaporean delights, Malaysian, and a few Indian dishes. Shortly after we arrived, the street became packed with food seekers. All the diners appeared to be enjoying their food and the atmosphere. We walked the area before selecting the food vendors. Food quality varied between the many stalls. We were very happy with the food quality and taste of what we selected, and the portions were filling. Definitely worth the trip!

Conveniently located at the end of Chinatown, near the Tooth Relic Temple and Singapore City Gallery (in the Urban Redevelopment Authority). There are many food stalls to choose from, and the food offered here is very good. It can get a bit warm, as the fans are small and not all tables are under one.

Went to this hawker centre on last Sunday morning 10am for the well-known Tian Tian chicken rice. Surprisingly no queue and very fast served with fragrance chicken rice. I ordered one roasted and one steam accompanied with chicken feets. Each plate costs me SGD 5, considered slightly expensive in food centre. Food wise is nice and meet my expectation as a nice chicken rice. If you are asking me to queue 45 minutes for this, i might opted for another chicken rice stall.

One of the oldest food centers around. Lots of tourists visit the food center. One thing worth mentioning about this food center is that the tables are relatively well spaced apart. Not a common sight as compared to other food centers. Lots of good food here and there are many different kinds of food including Malay, Chinese, Japanese , Korea and Indian food as well. The food is so much cheaper than eating in a restaurant and should visit to try out Singapore's local culture.

Chicken rice here, in my opinion, is longer as good as before..the western food at Ye Lai Xiang Tasty Barbeque still good though the price is very steep. There are no other good food to try here. The price of food here is generally higher than other hawker centres.

One of the popular foodcentre in town. Tried “Tian Tian” chicken rice (not bad), highly recommend the “ham chim peng”. Wu xiang was so so. Beer shop opens after 5pm. Must try western food “Tasty”! They open around 6pm at night (not sure about morning or afternoon opening hour) and there’s q at that time!

This place bring lots of memory, and there are so many stalls that I know the owners personally, when they were in China Street. Some stalls will offer their food for free, and peanut soup is one of them. I still remember when young, we used to help them peel the skin off the peanut for a small fee, which supplement our family income.

Built on a former Chinese cemetery, Maxwell Food Centre started as wet market in 1929. Only in 1986, Maxwell Food Center took it’s current form as a hawker center when Government moved all street vendors indoors. Today, it’s one of the most well known hawker center in CBD and host several Michelin listed stalls. Anthony Bourdain’s praise made Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice famous worldwide but the Popiah at “Rojak, Popiah & Cockles” is most probably best popiah in town.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

When it comes to hawker fanfare within our island, a few of them will come to your mind and one of them will definitely be Maxwell Food Centre. Maxwell Food Centre is truly home to many of Singapore’s best hawker stalls and always packed with both locals and tourists to taste true blue Singaporean food at very affordable prices. Among Singaporeans, Maxwell Food Centre has long been a fixture in the city’s food scene since it opened for business in 1986. Many people venture to Maxwell for Tian Tian Chicken Rice as tourists all over the world come here to queue for a plate after the review by Gordon Ramsay himself, but there is more to the food centre than that. Some of my other favorite selections include Jin Hua Fish Soup. Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake. Xing Xing Ondeh-Ondeh Tapioca Cake. Popo & Nana's Delights. China Street Fritters (traditional handmade ngoh hiang is a rare find these days!). Ye Lai Xiang Tasty Barbecue. Hainanese Curry Rice and the Avocado drinks stall! Xing Xing Ondeh Ondeh has been in business in Maxwell Food Centre for more than 4 decades if i recall correctly, selling traditional homemade kueh from as cheap as 50cents that are often sold out within a few hours so do join in the queue early! Jin Hua Fish Head Bee Hoon is a Cantonese-style fish soup that is super rich with flavor as well. If you are nearby Chinatown, Telok Ayer or Tanjong Pagar, this is a very good location to visit to satisfy your hunger and cravings for some local delicacies. Seats are easy to find and the entire place is well-ventilated as well. Several MRT stations (Outram Park, Chinatown, Telok Ayer, Tanjong Pagar) are within 10- to 15-minutes walking distance. Parking is also available nearby at parallel parking lots and public carparks.

Wasted time coming here. Not a single muslim stall was open for business today. Even the ones at the back. All go holiday one shot? It's not even a Friday. As if we don't need to eat. I saw others from the same community coming over for dinner but were disappointed. Ridiculous.

Can't find Biryani 47 @ Maxwell so I'll just post here. Not exactly a biryani fanatic but this one has one of the best tasting mutton and sauce I've ever tried - tender and succulent, and the sauce is so rich and flavorful. It's definitely gonna be my go-to biryani if the craving strikes again. Highly recommended. 😋

okay, first of all, it's not that I dislike it, i think Google "star" system is not what it should be. this is market food in Singapore. so you have to level set your expectations. I had the typical chicken plate, very cheap and very good considering the price. If you are a American, order double or more portion. However, I would also recommend you to order a small or medium portion so you can try others. I love the scene and I would definitely come back again!

Large Hawker Food Center with 2 long rows of stalls. Lots of tables for people to sit at. There are lots of Hainanese Chicken stalls as that is one of the specialties of this hawker center. Not the cleanest of hawker centers, but the food is tasty and cheap. Come check it out!

Hawker centre is a must while visiting Singapore! Located next to Maxwell MRT exit 2. We arrived at at 9 am, plenty of seats available but not all the restaurants are ready to serve. Fortunately, the one we wanted to try was already open with short queue. Most of the food we tried are yummy! Worth visiting👍🏻⭐️

I came here with too high of an expectation. I watched reviews after reviews on YouTube hyping this place. First place I went to was the popular Tian Tian Haianese Chicken rice. It was good but I’ve had better and cheaper in Bangkok. Tried a few other places and was just not impressed. There’s a lot of food stalls so I’ll eventually hit one that I’ll like. But don’t come with such high expectations like me or you’ll be disappointed. Only place that was good was the Teochew fishball bak chor mee. The 1 dish (dry noodle) was actually flavourful. The pics of the stores on this review were the ones that had a line up so I recommend trying them first.

Very clean food court, lots of seating as well. Super long q at the famous chicken rice shop (I was there at 11.20am on a weekday). #01-82 North & South Indian Food Soft fluffy briyani, light coloured vegetable curry surprisingly more spicy than the chicken curry. Overall taste is pretty good but price is not according the menu. Menu written was $6 but I was charged $6.50 #01-53 Fried oyster Too oily (you can see the oil seeping out) and there are some black bits means the wok is not cleaned properly before next order. 6 oysters for $6 portion. Oysters were fresh and juicy.

A few gems in this bustling food court, with some insanely cheap but satisfying stalls. Can't remember the name but the roasted meat stalls had affordable meals without scrimping on the meat quantity. If you see a long queue during lunch time, you know it's a good stall.

  • 4/5 Cathy H. 10 months ago on Google
Nice spot for lunch, fairly busy but enough seats to go round during our visit. Good variety of hawker stalls with standard prices. Table cleaning was performed quickly and there weren't too many birds around.

Hainanese Rice J Louis The outlet is in the central area which is quite close to the entrance access from the Maxwell MRT. The queue is quite long, many locals & tourists are queuing, so immediately queue up to try it. Uncle who accepts orders is friendly, when an order comes in he will immediately informed the uncle who prepares the food. Many vendors aren't open or haven't opened yet, but still the tables in the food court are full. * Roasted Chicken Rice Medium The rice is tasty, fragrant & fluffier. Roasted chicken has a good seasoning, savory, typical of roasted chicken on Hainan rice. The broth is tasty, chicken broth is given chicken feet too. After finishing eating, don't forget to return the tray to the area provided.

During my recent escapade in Singapore, I couldn't resist exploring the famed Maxwell Food Centre, renowned for its pulsating culinary scene. Let me tell you, the experience was a mixed bag, with a touch of coolness and a sprinkle of room for improvement. First things first, the ambiance of this food haven was chill vibes all around. The temperature was just right, sparing me from the scorching Singaporean heat. However, a solo traveler like me faced a bit of a challenge when it came to snatching a seat. Many tables were occupied by groups who had someone holding the table, making it difficult to secure a spot. It's worth noting that visiting with a group might offer an advantage in this regard. Now, due to the seat-seeking struggle, I tried some of the food options that didn't require sitting down. One standout had a freshly made sugar cane juice, which had a pleasant flavor and wasn't overly sweet. It provided a refreshing respite from the heat. Another must-try was the famous oyster cake, bursting with a myriad of flavors. The combination of coriander, oyster, peanut, and meat created a harmonious blend that delighted my taste buds.” Here's a pro tip: make sure to bring some cash when you pay a visit to Maxwell Food Centre. Most stalls don't play the credit card game, so it's better to be prepared. Cash is king.

We drop by here to take our brunch 🍽️ Nice place for eating, especially if your in a budget, has a wide area, table and chairs are also available. You can chose from any different stall to dine and lot of food cuisine to taste, I really love their "Mushroom Minced Meat Noodles" 😋 have a try! The best thing I observed is CLAYGO behaviour and surely it is a good rules to follow. 😉

Loved the vibe here. We arrived late at about 9. 30pm so most places were shut, and some didn't take card payments, but we were happy with the options left! Great priced drinks, I enjoyed the water chestnut. Our favourite dishes were the malay noddles and thai style chicken (from places pictured)

Nice experience as a tourist in Singapore to try their local food here. Many food stalls with reasonable price. Recommend the kaya toast and lemongrass tea. However, very hot dining as no air conditioning here…

  • 4/5 Joshua T. 8 months ago on Google
Nice and well priced food court in the heart of Chinatown, however almost half of the food court is just Hainanese Chicken Rice or Drinks- a bit too many for one Hawker Center. However, the food here is quite good, but can get very busy and usually has no available tables.

If you want a cheap yummy meal then Maxwell is the place to go! Plenty of chicken rice stalls and other foods to choose from. You get your food instantly. Best to go around lunch time when the best ingredients are used by the stalls.

Most of the best stalls sold brand n all to foreigners .. the food just tastes off from the usual local taste. Walking around at least 70% of the stalls chefs aren't local... sigh, old generation retired and have no family to take over. Even the tea from a stall I bought from is off! .. Not coming to this hawker again.

A very unique experience nothing like where I'm from. The food I took was great and for only 7 dollars, and there were a lot of options to choose from, some are probably better if the long lines are any indication. A bit crowded and noisy if that is less your thing.

If you are looking for the local food court to experience it then this is it. I think it's known to be one of the better ones but the food is pretty basic for obvious reasons. I wouldn't say it compares to similar things in other parts of the region or in East Asia. Generally speaking it was underwhelming. I got the chicken rice from the best known seller and a roast and barbeque pork combo with greens from another place. And a fresh coconut (that was warm). I would consider the chicken rice decent but not as even as good as the same thing I could get almost anywhere in Asia or America. It's very affordable and there are many options so I think you could do well coming here instead of a restaurant, but I think you will get better quality from the right restaurant locally. Although generally speaking Singapore food isn't my favorite. It's just not as fresh or local due to their food imports. But this rating is adjusted for that

  • 5/5 Elaine C. 6 months ago on Google
I went during weekend evening for dinner, not many stores open. I believe the weekdays will be crowded and more choices. A lot of choices, which you can definitely find good 👍 food there. Here is convenient, few minutes walk you can walk to chinese Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Indian Sri Mariamman Temple. It will good to walk before 6pm slowly around this place and you can find nice food everywhere.

They have a big coconut with soft coconut meat.
