We came here for lunch recently. The restaurant is quite popular so reservations are recommended, and you may need to book several days ahead depending on when you want to come, but we managed to get a table with almost no wait, as we were a little past the main lunch hour. Like many places, I’d say they’re short staffed at the moment, so you will need to be a little patient with the orders, but for us, it was certainly worth the wait. The food was very good. They have a large selection of dishes with a mix of the more familiar ones and some less common ones. We tried their massaman curry with duck. I would normally expect to see this with chicken, but the duck version was very nice and the dish was cooked perfectly. We also tried eggplant with minced pork, which was likewise delicious. This is proper Thai food, not chain restaurant or street food. Prices are accordingly on the slightly higher side but not excessively so, and the quality and portion sizes are both very good. It’s definitely worth a visit to come here. Recommended.

Michelin star Thai food at its best. Located in a quaint shophouse, this unassuming restaurant offers up one of the most mouth watering Thai food in Singapore at a fair price. The crispy pork sells out within the first hour. If you wanna eat that. Come as early as you can. Also offers very interesting and rare to find Thai wines with interesting pairings like green curry.

Definitely the best and most authentic Thai food in Singapore. Everything was awesome. We loved the morning glory veg dish, the pineapple fried rice, the green chicken curry, the red fish curry … Pad Thai was also amazing. Lots of shrimp on top, it was awesome!!!!

Food is excellent. Love the different variety of Northern Thai cuisine. The soft shell crabs and braised pork were so delicious. One short coming is not about the food but the air-conditioning. Too warm.

Michelin thai restaurant. Place was like any other restaurant vibes. Service was as expected. Food was very good. The pork (idk izzit grilled pork?) Was so delicious. Tomyum soup was not spicy but it had a great depth of flavour. Fish was so spicy and had a good kick. Only zz part is $6++ for thai milk tea and it tasted so ordinary. Does not have very thai tea taste. Can skip this.

Went here for lunch with my Isaan wife a few days ago after watching a TikTok video about it. While the place seems to advertise itself as a Isaan restaurant, there wasn't really that much Isaan food options on the menu. The food was a hit or miss, unfortunately mostly on the latter. If I had to describe it, I'd say that the food was more reminiscent of Thai food made for foreign tourists rather than authentic flavours you'd find in small diners in Thailand. To give credit where it's due however, the hits were great, particularly the pork neck which was robustly flavoured and tender. The restaurant was very busy during the time we went but the staff remained attentive and friendly so the service is perfect. The only thing to keep on mind is that the food might understandably take a while to arrive. Unfortunately this might not be the place I'd go too often when craving for Thai food, or Isaan food especially.

Fast phased ambience, everything felt like a rush. Service was alright, a few of our utensils was dirty and had it replaced in an instant. Place was extremely noisy, I could barely hear any of my friends speak. Most of the time we go “HUH”?! We even tried screaming to see if we can top off others. Really bad. For the price point, we expect more than tasty food for sure. The food was alright, interesting twist (fruits in red curry); other than that, taste wise there is nothing to shout about. Pork belly was crispy, tom yum mama has alot of bean sprouts. Thai lime seabass was good. Overall, you can easily find some other places with better offerings.

Recommended by a friend whom have eaten here for 3 times. Food was really good overall. Service staff were attentive even though it was quite busy. Super love the crispy pork belly and the corn salads. Spiciness were on point and those who prefer spicier food can ask for their foods to be cooked spicier. Best to make a reservation first before heading down as the place normally full-house quickly. Will definitely come back again and order the pork belly again.

Chanced upon this restaurant as Vietnamese restaurant was closed on Sunday. At around 1pm+, we still waited to be seated. All food options we chose were 'less spicy'. It was the right choice for us. Food tasted great. The serving was just nice. The ambience was great. Just that Thai ice tea $6 per glass was a bit dear.

A slightly different style of Thai food here in Singapore. Different in a good way too. The red curry had lychees and mangoes which worked really well. Standard spicy was really spicy for me, and I generally like chili. So I'd recommend you'd circle the less spicy option

Expect a bustling atmosphere even during weekday lunches at this spot - reservations are highly advisable. Our meal included the salted egg somtam, eggplant minced pork, and tomyum soup, all ordered at the standard spice level. Each dish was delicious, perfectly balanced in terms of spice. A couple of drawbacks, however, were notable. Firstly, the restaurant does not offer glasses of water, which might be inconvenient for some. Additionally, the acoustics aren’t ideal, leading to a noticeably noisy environment as the place fills up.

had to wait 45 min for our table, but the unique and flavorful coconut tom yum soup made it worthwhile. The sea bass was good, and the milk tea was outstanding. However, the pork neck was disappointing, lacking tenderness and flavor. Recommended for soup and tea lovers.

Awesome and authentic Thai food! Very popular joint for lunch and you have to place $25 at booking to secure a table and book way ahead! Love the freshness of the prawns in the tomyam soup which was fragrant, spicy and sour enough. The seabass was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Mango salad was good too. Will definitely return again with more people so we can try more dishes. Approx $50/head

An authentic Thai food. Great food and good service! A bit on a pricey side but it’s satisfying. Must get reservation before come, as it’s always full house. We had Deep Fried Seabass with Thai Fish Sauce and Mango Salad, Fried Omelette with Prawns, UYKD Crispy Pork Belly with Special Dipping Sauce, Signature Grilled Chicken, Stir Fried Spicy Minced Pork with Hot Basil, Stir Fried Mixed Vegetables, Stir Fried Trio Mushrooms with Hot Basil. All food are nice, tasty, served hot, decent portion, and nice presentation. Highly recommended!

This has to be the BEST thai food I ever tried. I used to think Thai food = sanook/Thai express etc, but this place proved me wrong. Ofc slightly pricey for Thai but definitely worth it, one of the few places I feel entirely deserving of their Michelin stars. The pineapple fried rice was mindblowing. They actually had longan meat inside. It was just so different from normal pineapple fried rice, and actually addictive and refreshing. The signature roast chicken was also fantastic and unique. Eggplant with basil mince was not bad too, never really seen this dish before. Too bad only two people so couldn't order too much but would totally come again with a bigger party to try more stuff!!! Would say this is a six stars place.

This is my second visit and the experience was much better. The acoustics where we were seated this time (right after the entrance) was more comfortable from a sound level perspective. Important tip: do make reservations so u do not need to wait and to avoid disappointment! We ordered the prawn spring roll, tom yum coconut soup, green chicken curry, morning glory, pineapple fried rice and red ruby desert. Everything less spicy. My friends enjoyed the food very much and it was surely a great choice for me to have recommended this spot. What we thought: Prawn spring roll - very crispy! Best eaten when its piping hot from the kitchen Tom Yum coconut soup - fish meat is fresh. The less spicy tom yum was still a little too spicy for my friends who had lower spice thresholds. (Ooops) My friends felt that the soup was “sweet”. I liked how uniquely tasting it was. Its my second time ordering it. 😂 Green curry - the round pea eggplants were surprisingly not bitter to taste. Very good with plain white rice. Pineapple fried rice - very unique with “longan” (instead of raisins). Its really quite good and the portion was just nice for three of us to share. Red Ruby - this is good imo but i have never eaten it much at other places. The sweetness was jus nice and the red ruby had a nice crunc

This place is a gem! They serve the usual Thai food, but with an interesting twist. Love their coconut Tom Yum soup, a very interesting dish. Sea bass is fresh, the milky taste from the coconut combines with the spiciness makes quite an unique taste. Love their grilled pork neck also. Dipping sauce goes well with the meat, fried rice isn’t oily, just a tad sweet. Very satisfying meal. Recommend to make a reservation before visiting to avoid queuing.

A not so hidden gem. Loved how the food was prepared. Lots of subtle flavors and meat/veggies were tender. We had the grilled chicken, grilled eggplant with minced pork, and the mango sticky rice. Would recommend all 3 dishes.

Chance upon this restaurant as I was walking by with friends. We went in with no/Low exception and it turns out to be a scrumptious dinner! Fast serving, fuss free service. We had roasted pork must try! It’s a different recipe compare to other Thai roasted pork and thy bring the game to a whole new level. We had roasted pork, papaya salad, Tom yum (yummy!), tamarind egg (yummy!), and morning glory. Price - good Cleanliness- good Food - amazing! Location - good Service - good

Great Isan-style Thai food. The fish coconut Tom Yam was one of the best fish soups we’ve had, and they did not scrimp on the ingredients. Fishes we had were fresh, and ingredients aplenty. Curry soft shell crab could do with more curry and less egg - sauce had more egg whites than curry. Overall a solid dining experience. Damage came to about 170 for 4 pax.

Having Michelin Bid Gourmand says it all and they lived up to it. Ingredients were fresh. Quality was great. Serving portions were generous. Khao Soi with Grilled Chicken was rich in flavor. The curry like sauce was creamy and the chicken was tender. The dish was addictive. Grilled Eggplant with Spicy Minced Pork Hot Basil was done well but both Ingredients don't seem to mix that well. Crispy Pork Ribs with Som Tum was sweet and fragrant. The salad ingredient were totally fresh and refreshing. It whet one's appetite. This place needs reservation. Even though we arrived just when it started it's dinner service, the restaurant was crowded soon after.

A Thai restaurant that many local Thais come to dine here. If your spice tolerance not high, ask for the less spicy option and they would be just right. We liked the signature grilled chicken, grilled beef with spicy sauce and tom-saap. Their rice cracker with pork sauce is also one of the authentic appetizers from Thailand as well.

This Michelin Guide restaurant is deserving of the recommendation. The food were fantastic, portions were decent for the price point and the total spending for the whole meal is reasonable as well. Highly recommend the steam sea bass, crispy pork, eggplant and the Tom Yum soup. Definitely a must try for authentic Thai food and will be back again in the future for sure.

A little on the noisy side perhaps due to the big crowd on a Sunday noon 1pm. They close at 2:30pm so we couldn’t stay to chat for long but no biggie. Food was sublime!! Would def return to try more of their offerings.

We were so surprised by the food standard, not just truly authentic thai cuisines they served, but the quality of the foods reflected the chef’s extraordinary skill. We ordered pineapple fried rice with prawns, stir fried soft shell crab in curry sauce, Isaan garlic pork belly and of course tom yum soup! Every dishes were so flavourful you taste the herbs and spices and many layers! Such a wonderful dining experience. Already planning for next visit and I CAN’T WAIT Service crew was polite, attentive and helpful although they have packed room but still able to take care of every table. Kudos!

Do not recommend walk in, do not come without reservations. Finally manage to get a booking to visit, food was as expected of such a restaurant. Great presentation, taste good however slightly bland personally, it's prob more int'l curated vs local taste buds. Service was ok as many times it took a server a while to notice us. Ambience was cozy however can get little noisy, 90min dining duration is just nice to order and finish the food. Can't expect to chill as there are ppl waiting to get it. Overall good food, decent setting, priced reasonably. Recommendations: Lemon grass with honey drink Fried fish with mango salad Red ruby dessert

Always wanted to visit this restaurant 1-2 years back. Finally get to jio another 5 friends to have lunch here. Overall, the food is really not bad, especially the fried fish. Pad Thai and tomyam also nice! But u can skip the beef steak. Will visit this place again, with more friends, so can order more. *Environment is abit noisy and not sure if the exhaust is not strong enough? It’s full of 油烟味.

Food was alright but not fantastic that I would go back. The best dish we had was the tom yum coconut seabass soup. There’s an option on the menu list to choose the overall spiciness level - the standard spice level isn’t spicy enough. They are very strict with the 90 mins dine in and will indeed rush you out in time. Can get very noisy to enjoy conversations during dinner.

Surprisingly friendly staff. Innovative fresh menus, well prepared food, fresh carefully selected ingredients. Recommend basil minced pork w eggplant. Eggplant very sweet.

Serving authentic Isaan cuisine (food originating from the northeastern part of Thailand), I’ve tried this once long before it was awarded e Michelin bib gourmand, now it’s almost a must to reserve if u wanna go for lunch. The place might be noisy during meal times, especially the inner seating area. Tried a variety of dishes, since we had a large group, but my favourites would be the Steamed whole sea bass in spicy Thai lime sauce (for its tangy & addictive sauce), Crispy pork belly with special dipping sauce, PenLaos signature grilled chicken (for the tender meat & I like the marinade of peppercorns), & Red ruby in coconut milk! Not a relaxing dining experience. The place is way too crowded and noisy. 90 mins dining time starts from when you be seated which makes me stressed. Food was great but not impressed, probably the dining environment was like a chaos. I would rather go other Thai restaurants to have a peaceful moment.

I read good reviews online about the food, and it doesn't disappoint. Seabass tom yum coconut taste really good. Although price is on the higher side, I will still order it next time. We love the crispy pork ribs with som tum too. It's crispy on the outside and meat is super tender. Red curry chicken taste very average and it costs $18.50. I will skip this dish next time. Overall, I had a nice experience eating there.

One of the best Thai meals I have ever had in Singapore! Especially recommend their Isaan Grilled Pork Neck Fried Rice, the Isaan Grilled Ribeye Steak and Signature Grilles Chicken. The stir fried morning Glory with chilli and garlic, the Khao Soi and Steamed Whole Seabass in Spicy Thai Lime Sauce were good but not spectacular. Especially the pork neck fried rice. There was so many levels of flavours in the rice, each exploding and clamouring to be recognised when I took in the first mouthful. Wow! This dish alone should get them their Michelin nod. Also appreciate the small gesture from them for a petit gift in the form of Thai dessert for one of our group who was celebrating birthday. Strongly recommend that you make reservations well in advance. Don’t even think about trying your luck to walk in. Especially on weekends.

They also had coconut curry noodle soup which is unique as many places don’t sell it. Thai milk tea was on point so definitely recommend that. Thai food down to its true essence. Highlights: 1. Tom Yum soup bursting with flavour 2. Morning glory with a smoky tinge to it 3. Fried rice that is not dripping in oil 4. Thai milk tea that’s NOT overly sweet, you can actually taste the tea

Food filled with flavor bombs. Delicious, comfortable and unpretentious. If you can handle some spiciness, go for the “standard” spiciness level for that kick. One of the most authentic Thai food you can get in Singapore.

Everything I ordered was flavourful. Most places serve their Thai Milk Tea much too sweet, but the one I had was smooth and lightly sweetened, and I absolutely loved it. I ordered glutinous brown rice to go with Thai papaya salad with dried shrimp and larb moo (which I wasn’t able to take a picture of). All dishes were delicious and it was an overall delightful dining experience.

  • 5/5 Joy K. 1 year ago on Google
Warm and welcoming. Food orders were served briskly. Good recommendations. All the dishes were full of flavour, well balanced without excessive sweetness or saltiness, maintaining authentic Isaan origins. Loved the UYKD crispy pork belly, understand why its always sold out fast! Red curry with grilled chicken was unique, and the fruits added a nice texture and lovely flavor. Grilled pork neck fried rice was nicely fried, without being dry or too oily. Thai milk tea totally enjoyable as it packed nice fragrance and was not too sweet.

Pork Belly was indeed crispy and the meat was pretty lean. I do like the lighter colored sauce, slightly tangy yet spicy. Eggplant with minced pork basil style tasted pretty alright. The minced pork was generous and goes well with the eggplant. Tom yum soup had four big prawns that were semi-peeled, easy to eat. The soup was flavorful and had depth. Grilled pork neck fried rice stood out to me among all the dishes I had ordered. It’s taste was unique, unlike other fried rice. The pork neck were quite tender and well seasoned. The red ruby dessert had a strong coconut taste. The water chestnuts of the red ruby tasted as though they were roasted. They had chunks of jackfruit that goes well with the red ruby. Overall, I had a good dining experience but it was a little pricey.

Wonderful experience with the restaurant. Grilled chicken is tender, juicy with nice spice flavor. Tom yum soup is creamy and prawns are very fresh. We ordered one bowl of red Ruby as we were quite full, staffs were very attentive and gave us 5 bowls and spoons without us asking. Will definitely revisit again

Steady flow of customers at lunch time. My colleague who made the booking said she had to make a deposit. I like the ambience. The soft shell crab was really good. Spicy enough to get the kick! A bit like chilli crab gravy. A customer next to our table gave us two pieces of roasted pork. Must admit it was good. We had mama noodles which was actually instant noodles. Quite a big portion for small eater like me. Can share with another person.

Always wanted to dine here as it's a popular spot and usually full (reservations highly encouraged), so we were very happy to finally enjoy an authentic Thai meal in CBD! The food was delicious, and the service from the staff was even better. Highly recommend the crispy pork belly (great crunch / balance between lean and fatty), along with the fried prawn and scallop cake appetizer, finishing off with mango sticky rice, which was fresh, sweet and the perfect blend of warmth from the rice and coconut milk. Price are on the steeper end, but a great place for casual dates or to celebrate special occasions (our very positive experience made up for the value of the bill). We'll definitely be back with a bigger group of friends to try more signature dishes!

Probably the best Thai food in Singapore (especially northern Thai dishes). Absolutely amazing, full of flavour and spice. Very well balanced. We came as a group of four, and were given a table within 20min, service was fantastic. Highly recommend visiting

Ordered their delivery. The beef is medium rare, super tender and juicy. Cooked to just nice with the sauce that’s amazing. The pineapple fried rice is super good. With the pork floss is really amazing. The chicken is well marinated but the meat is a little too dry. The Tom Yum soup with clear base is very normal, very sour instead of the well balanced taste of Tom yum.

Came here with high expectations and I was not disappointed. The food was not the typical Thai food you get in Singapore; it was a cut above the rest. It was a pity that they ran out of the signature pork belly and grilled chicken which we wanted to try. We ordered the curry chicken, smoked duck and pork collar fried rice which were all superbly tasty. Just be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes before getting a table. I’ll be back to try the rest of their food.

Make a trip if you’re in the area but otherwise not worth traveling down for. Gets really, really noisy in the rear dining room to a point where you almost can’t hear yourself talk. Staff are friendly and attentive but can feel like their focus is to turn the table around for the next group. Food is good like many many other Thai restaurants in Singapore. Personally wouldn’t go back as the atmosphere is just too chaotic for a pleasant dining experience.

Obviously, it must be something unique and special, to be on the Michelin lists for 3 consecutive years ('21, '22, '23), proudly announced on the wall. Well known for many well-received authentic Isaan Thai cuisine! Reservations are advised to avoid disappointment or long waiting for tables (each sitting is capped at 90 mins.) Service staff were ever so polite and helpful! Some patrons were boisterous and loud. Others generally were well behaved, enjoying their food and own conversations.
