We came here for dinner recently, wanting a bit of a special night out, and we tried the premium omakase along with a few rounds of different types of sake. The restaurant is small, so you’ll definitely need to make a reservation, and note that for dinner (not sure about lunch), a deposit is required at the time of booking. The flip side of being in a cozy place is that you get a lot attention and personal service. Chef Koike, his two assistants, and the staff were all very kind and friendly. Everything just went smoothly. It was a nice experience. The courses we had were all very high quality and represented quite a wide range of tastes and textures. One that stood out for me was the saba. It was prepared very simply but really good. I lived in Japan for years and have eaten a lot of saba, but this was probably the best I’ve ever had. Overall, the meal was relaxed and not rushed. There aren’t multiple seatings so you don’t need to worry about time. They also ask you up front about any dietary restrictions. This is real omakase, not a set menu. By the time we finished the meal, we were both quite full and thoroughly satisfied and happy. It’s not an inexpensive place to dine, but for the right occasion, it is a very nice one and I recommend it. We would definitely go back.

We had the omakase lunch experience at 168++. Chef Koike served us fresh and sashimi that is in season. The baffun uni are from rishiri Island and are very sweet :) The restaurant looked posh, private and decor reminded me of Japan. Kudos to their hinoki scented towel. I would have given it a 6 star rating!

We had premium set-course for dinner and I would say it is the best Japanese omakase in Singapore I have had to date. All food are really tasty. It costs a bomb, but it's worth it. Sake and wine glasswares are also proper (Gabriel Gold stems for wine). Chef Koike is really skillful.

Great taste and authentic sushi. It would have been great if the chef’s attitude toward the staff was much nicer. I heard the chef yelling at the team a few times. The experience was ruined. It was good to experience since there is no second time visiting here.

I highly recommend Sushi Koike! It was an awesome omakase experience with a friendly welcome. The chefs were more than happy to share about the ingredients and the best way to enjoy them. Definitely gonna be back for more!

Overall the dishes is great however what bugs me was the dining experience is unpleasant. The chef was scolding and saying something that makes the other junior chef feels indifference, I felt pity it was weekend, they worked hard but just feel under appreciated. I had explored many Omakase place in Singapore and this was my first time encounter this incident I hope this can be improved for staff’s morale. When they feel unhappy it would reflect on their action which is the food that is served to customers

First visit and was there for lunch. Went for special Omakase meal $200++ and to be fair, it was nicely done. However, the restaurant was super noisy and they had forgotten that there were other customers around. Perhaps bigger group could be arranged in the room or to consider asking them to lower their volume. Head spinning and rather disturbing.

Very fresh seasonal ingredients, lovely warm rice in the sushi that enhances the umami flavor from the fish. Japanese chef is very friendly and focus on bringing the best food experience. 10/10

Came here for my birthday celebration and had an incredible time. The restaurant is small, there are only 8-9 seats. So you need to book way ahead. Certainly expensive, but it’s really worth it. We ordered special omakase set which is 300++ per person, plus drinks. I lost count of how many courses were served but definitely will fill you up. Chef Koji and staff are really really accommodating. Highly recommended and will certainly come back for special occasions.

As good as dining in Japan esp cant travel during this pandemic period. A marvelous dining experience to enjoy the seasonal items and the skills of the chef. And they have a good selection of sake to pair with the food. Excellent !

Went on a weekday for Omakase dinner.. we chose the standard menu at the counter seat and it was an amazing experience, with the friendly chefs pleasantly and patiently answering all our questions about the types of sushi and dishes we were being served. I requested to have no green onions (negi) to be added and they faithfully followed that instruction throughout the meal! The ika (squid) sushi was so surprisingly buttery and rich - wonderfully different from those commercially-available pieces of white rubber. I ate my first ever geoduck, it was so tender and sweet 🤤 The bundle of uni and rice which they place straight into your hand was so creamy and a perfect mouthful of umami~ Overall an unforgettable and tasty treat of a meal! By the way, their front door slides to open, don’t be silly like me and try to push and pull at it 😆

Not overwhelm with sizes of the sushi served is perhaps many still prefer. Fresh stock as most like. I still prefer the idea of a good cut are meant to enjoy at small bites, anything bigger or more will be too overwhelm and blinded by choking of dish after dish. Some varieties are always welcome to pamper own palette. Dishes for a value always adds up to too many dishes for a small stomach, so little chef have to help by contributing his stomach space for me. Small cozy setting is a yes always for us. #fonzfoodjournala #fonzfoodjournal @sushi_koikesg

This is my go-to sushi restaurant in Singapore, where I have been many times. The chef is a master of Edomae-sushi, a traditional style of sushi that showcases the freshness and flavor of the fish. He sources seasonal seafood directly from the Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo , so every time I visit, I find something new and amazing on the menu. For example, he showed me the difference in texture and taste between seaweeds from different regions, which I never knew before. It was an eye-opening experience. The lunch set is a great value for money, but the dinner omakase is where you can indulge in sushi to your heart's content.

Great dinner here. Service was exceptional and the Omakase was really good. Not the cheapest but the quality was there. Smallish establishment. Very friendly staff. They even send you off when you leave!

Hidden gem amongst some rather dodgy joints. Food was definitely above average. A little pricey but was a good intimate Japanese experience.

There is sushi, and then there is Sushi Koike. I’ve probably eaten at 100+ sushi restaurants across the world, including Japan, and no place stands near the quality Koike has. Note that there is no à la carte menu as they offer only omakase, and be ready to leave at least $200 per person. Don’t mind the location or the decor, which is nothing unusual. However, the food is outstanding

Came here with a bro. Great dining experience. Awesome food and authentic cosy old school feel about the place. Not a modern sleek high end joint in case anyone is wondering. Chef was engaging without over-doing it which I like. But only gripe is the service lack the refinement expected of a high-end sushi restaurant.

Absolutely worth every single one of the five stars. Master chef Koji cooked in front of us with super fresh Japanese ingredients (shipped by plane from Japan). His skills, care and personal attention captured us from the first moment. This experience redefined sushi for me. All sushi I ever had is subpar to master Koji's creations. Trully a hidden gem in the heart of Singapore. Needless to say that service, ambiance and feelings were top.

Amazing food, very friendly staff, we have been to most top japanese restaurants in Singapore and in our opinion Chef Koike San is better then most, the quality of the products is top and the price is way better then most. Thank you! It will be our new go to place !

Awesome experience with delicious food and great service! We went for the standard Omakase at $168++ for lunch. The sushi was super fresh, well seasoned and tender. Nobita was a great chef and took notes of our dietary restrictions very carefully. Totally love the 2-hour experience!

A Japanese foodie friend recommended this place. It tucked behind a very unnoticeable door. The sashimi omakasan is creamy and fresh, surprisedly filling too! They went extra mild offering luxury japanese fruits for my birthday too. I will definitely go back in different season.
