Acting as a large green lung and situated right in the centre of Singapore is Central Catchment Nature Reserve. The largest of the nature reserves in Singapore, Central Catchment Nature Reserve occupies over 2,000 hectares of forest cover and is home to some of the richest forests in terms of biodiversity. The Central Catchment Nature Reserve and the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve once formed a contiguous forest. That all changed when the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) was constructed in 1986, separating the nature reserves into two fragments. To facilitate a linkage, the Eco-Link@BKE, completed in 2013, now connects the two reserves once again to allow animal movements and the dispersal of forest plant seeds. The MacRitchie Reservoir Park is located at the southern-eastern end of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. It is a popular starting point for visitors who wish to hike the MacRitchie Trails and the TreeTop Walk.

The place is serene! Most of the paths are manmade now so it's easier to hike up to tree top walk! There are A LOT of monkeys do keep your loose items safe at all times, also multiple signs are put up to not feed the monkeys.

This area consist of a network of jungle trails where you can trek. There many tracks that you can walk and the natural forest canopy provides a wonderful refreshing air with minimal pollution. Many kind of flora that you can enjoy along the way. You can track anyway between 45 mins to over 4 hours.

The oldest manmade reservoir in Singapore. During Covid-19 period, F&B that is situated near main carpark is closed. Vending machines and public toilets are available at central pavilion and the Singapore Canoe Federation (SCF) kiosk nearby. The time to complete one whole round of reservoir by walking is approximately 4-5 hours, shorter if you are running. Monkeys can be problematic, keep your loose items in the pocket. Refrain from feeding the wild animals.

Follow the trail to Jelutong Tower and Tree Top Walk. Enjoy the view and the trail. Have not cover all the trails. Will be back to try and experience other trails. Good experience to spend weekends with nature. Escape from the city view.

Serene. Refreshing. Challenging. Good place for a short trail run - end to end route is a little over 10km. Consider wearing good trail shoes with cushioning as the route is slightly pebbly. You will run into monkeys, birds, skinks, monitor lizards and jungle fowls.

This is a very huge catchment area located in the central part of Singapore. It is vital to Singapore. It consist of nature parks, rain forest, reservoirs and residential areas also.It provides a balance of nature with urban living. The reservoirs within the catchment area stalls water which will be treated into drinking water for the residents of Singapore. The rain forest provides havens for the local wild lifes ( example like birds, small animals, insects, reptiles). The nature parks provides residents with places to explore, hiking, jogging, strolling,do some physical exercises, nature photography or even having pinics and day out with family. In some areas there are visitor centres, resting pavilions, public restrooms, refreshment drinks stalls or seller machines. There are also some restaurants nearby, depending on which part of the catchment area you are in. The place is bound by end of Rifle Range Rd in the west, by Macritchie Reservoir Park in the southeast, and by Windsor Nature Park in the northeast, which are the only entry points to the reserve, also known as Macritchie Forest, or southern part of the reserve which is accessible to general public. The northern part is bound by the Mandai zoo in the north, the Nee Soon Swamp Forest in the northeast, Chestnut Nature Park or BKE in the west, Peirce Reservoir in the south, and Upper & Lower Peirce Reservoir Parks in the east, is reserved as live firing area. Visitors to the Macritchie Forest must keep to the designed nature trails. Open only from 7am to 7pm, but have no gates to lock out night visitors which are usually wildlife researchers or nature photographers. During the day the place is frequently visited by joggers and hikers. Cycling and vehicular or wheelchair access are not allowed. The terrain is rocky hence unsafe for cycling. The place housed Singapore Island's only primary rainforest. Popular areas include the Jelutong Tower and Treetop Walk.

Threre was six routes of trails and I chose the yellow trail , longest one with 11 km. Before you go, please check the weather forecast if you don't like the rain. But if you want to know the feeling of tropical rain forest, should try during the rain. There will be a lot of rain water streams and the dense of trees canopy make you feel the chillness. Beware of wild monkey and do not bring your food with plastic bag.

The Central Catchment Nature Reserve is a large forest reserve in the centre of Singapore. There are walking trails of various difficulty levels that cut across the reserve. You can enter and exit from Bukit Timah, Rifle Range Road, MacRitchie Reservoir and Thomson.

The place did not have any special things to watch and the bridge has an okay view. But the main problem was that one has to walk a lot for nothing.
