Listed as 73rd Singapore's national monument, this bridge is definitely a tourist visit area. The arch bridge was built between 1925-1929 to link Singapore downtown across Singapore river. There is a passage underbridge for the pedistrian to walk to across. The under bridge was also decorated with wall art.

Simple yet elegant old bridge. Name of the bridge is Elgin Bridge and it is of white color structure. Difference is it is not much of a steel structure, unlike other bridge you can find here. This is more like a concrete structure as a whole.

The bridge that divide North and south bridge road. Elgin Bridge is a vehicular box girder bridge across the Singapore River, linking the Downtown Core to the Singapore River Planning Area located within Singapore's Central Area. It was built between 1925 and 1929.

Walked across this bridge in early March. Elgin Bridge is a small arch bridge at the western end of Boat Quay. The bridge itself isn't all that interesting, but the views of Boat Quay are amazing, especially into the west.

Really informative and well put together exhibition, kept my 4 year old and myself entertained and informed with plenty of interactive stations. The view from the roof was fantastic and would pack a picnic next time to enjoy up there. Very impressive free exhibition.

You can see beautiful view from this bridge at night. North side of this bridge is Clarke Quay which is the biggest and busiest night place in Singapore, but south side of the bridge is also a good night place that is called "Boat Quay". There are many nice restaurants and bars, but not too much noisy and "party-ish" like Clarke Quay.

A very succinct gallery with theme of sustainability in Singapore and not only on the Marina Barrage. It is comprehensive ! Here, you will learn about the sustainability initiatives that Singapore has undertaken throughout the years on waste management and climate action plan. The most memorable artefact has to be the porcelain figurine that was presented to the long time economic adviser of Singapore Albert Winsemius when he lost the wager with Lee Kuan Yew. Mr. Winsemius thought that the Singapore River was beyond redemption and wanted to convert it into a closed sewer. Mr. Lee refused to admit defeat and went on a 10 year clean up effort to rejuvenate the river. In 1993, a grouper was caught in the river and the porcelain figure was given to Mr. Winsemius as a momento. There are guided tours here everyday hourly (except on Tuesdays where they are closed). Do remember to register online at their website for the tour ! For daily updates on Singapore heritage and stories, please follow me on Instagram (@heristage) and Facebook (@heristagesg)!

Best place to understand Sustainable Singapore and it's free. Best not to come at 5pm as closing time is 6pm. Book your free guided tour online. Also don't missed the Marina Barrage creating 3 benefits for Singapore. See the model for demonstration of the operation. Catch Bus 400 or walk from nearby Garden By The Bay.

Elgin Bridge, Singapore. This is the first crossing point across the Singapore River in early 19th century. The original wooden footbrigde was known as Presentment Bridge, also known as Monkey Bridge. It was demolished and rebuilt twice. When Elgin Bridge was built in 1928, it was made by reinforced concrete. This bridge separate North Bridge Road and South Bridge Road. Now the name Elgin. The melancholy Lord James Bruce Elgin lead the Second Opium War, albeit reluctantly, against the Qing government. Oversaw the end of the Second Opium War, also known as Arrow War, with the signing of the infamous unequal treaty, The Treaty of Tianjin on 26 June 1858.

The entire stretch on this road side is beautiful along the riverside. There are consecutive restaurants serving various cuisines. Mostly available options are to serve sea food along the river side. The river bed is covered with buildings on either side. This place is seriously stunning and breezy at times. Eye-catching tall buildings during the day and night and good place to roam around and click photo shoots. Witnessed ferry services to experience boat ride even at night. Certainly a Must visit place.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful! The very first bridge over the Singapore River was built here in 1819, but had to be expanded again and again to cope with the increasing traffic. Today's 5th generation dates from 1929: a cast iron arch construction by Rodolfo Nolli, an Italian who, among other things, also worked on the Raffles Hotel. At night, like almost everything in Singapore that is somehow pretty to look at, it is beautifully lit. It is one of the only 3 Singapore River Bridges that are considered a National Monument.

Mar 21 2021 sunny Sunday Jogged along Jalan Buruh, West Coast Hway, West Coast Rd, then Pasir Panjang Rd. Passed by Science Park II, Haw Par Villa and several temples. Then cable cars were within sight and I knew Sentosa is just a stone throw away. Tourist arrival is near zero due to Covid-19. With vaccination is under way in most countries, I hope the borders can be reopened soon and the sky is where we belong. Pushing further along Keppel Rd, Telok Blangah and Anson Rd, UOB Tower stands tall next to Singapore River. The Elgin Bridge sits on the Singapore River to give a beautiful postcard quality photo. There is a sense of achievement after completing my 10th half marathon in this year. Mizuno running shoes are durable and comfortable.
