Raffles Place is a commercial space that includes buildings such as the Arcade, Clifford Centre, Straits Trading, Hong Kong Bank and OCBC Building – all situated within five minutes’ walking distance of one another. Raffles Square was Singapore’s earliest commercial centre that bustled with offices of agency houses and department stores. Soon after the founding of modern Singapore in 1819, traders from all over the world began to arrive here. Raffles Square was assigned by Sir Stamford Raffles as a commercial square in 1822. Raffles had decided to re-locate the business sector across the Singapore River to its southwestern bank. This area, however, was swampy and had to be reclaimed. A hill was levelled to form Commercial Square and the earth was in turn used to fill in the swampy ground to form Boat Quay. Indian convicts filled in the swamps and laid out plots for building purposes. This area eventually became the commercial heart of the city. Big Asian and European shops, offices and godowns adjoined one another.

The greenery is a very welcomed change of environment compared to the many office buildings all around the Raffles Place area. As the Central Business District of Singapore, this place is always bustling with humans all across the day! Many open space for anyone to sit around, have their meals, enjoy the hustle and bustle, read their papers, or even people watch.

Raffles Place Park is a green space within the heart of Singapore’s financial centre. The park has become a favourite spot for the city’s professionals who work in the surrounding commercial buildings to relax and unwind amidst greenery, away from the office. Rest on the platforms that surround the park and people-watch as you soak in this oasis of greenery nestled within Singapore’s iconic city landscape.

This is the breathing space for the highly stressed and high density urban CBD.

Raffles Place Park is a 0.6-hectare park in Singapore. It is strategically located in the central business district, having intensive pedestrian traffic with commercial buildings located on both sides. Many working subjects and professionals around the area visit the park. The lush Zoysia lawns on raised planters is the main feature of this park. These raised planters can also be rendered as sitting platform for park users. A Coffee Club restaurant available serves as a dining place for both visitors and office workers by providing refreshments. Bazaars, concerts, performances, and trade fairs can also be participated in by visitors. In addition, it is situated above Raffles Place MRT Station but however H&M One Raffles Place has been permanently closed.

There is a sign saying that this small park is a smoke-free park. And then not far from the sign, like 5 meter away, there is a man sitting and smoking a cigarette. Also not sure if sitting there is allowed as there is "No sitting allowed" text in nearby stones.
